Wow - so Ladbrokes are giving info out on what slots are ready to pay now??!!!??

I dont play at lots of MG casinos, but haven't seen this type of thing anywhere else.

Blimey.. that's a bit weird!

Even with the big "theoretically" in there, it's still a bit mad saying they are more likely to pay out... Most often played is quite common at a lot of casino's - wonder if this is intimating there is some truth in the UK Fruit Machine style "take some money, pay some out" conspiracy theory?!?! Wooooooooo!!! (Cue X-Files music)

Thought I would try one of them.

Done my b******s on Loaded this morning, so not much of a roll to play with.

Played 50p a spin, and was about a 10 up after about 10 spins.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....lol.

This is a very interesting find. I wonder what the criteria are for the choices. And whether they change regularly?

On a side-note, I think Ladbrokes graphics designers have done a top job on their casino website. The whole scheme, the way the pictures are done, even the instant Flash Game access to individual games, is brilliant IMO.

Time will tell on this one Simmo.

Im just astonished that they would give out this info. Are they really saying that their hot slots are going to pay out?? I'm still in shock and I will be waiting to see if they put any of the 5 reel slots up as well.

Actually when you think about this, it's odd. After all, we've been lead to believe (quite soundly) an MG casino can't change the odds or % payback on the RNG.

Assuming that's true, then any "Hot Slots" must be across all MG's. So if that's the case, why don't other casinos advertise it?

I think it's more likely based on individual payout percentages of the slots. Maybe these ones have the highest % payback. In which case, the information is "out there". We just need to find it. Or bombard Zoozie with reel data :D

Or...it's a cynical marketing ploy. Lol. Although it's Ladbrokes and they are known for being pretty cautious and conservative (a good thing in the casino biz IMO).

Weird.

Last year i had a newsletter off fortune lounge ( i think..)

And it was saying which slots are hot and which where cold

But Maybe it just a cynical marketing ploy so you can pump more coins in

Aha. This is more than likely the case. Nice one.

I will keep on eye on their hot-slots page over the coming weeks.

Ahhhh, nevermind. It says Hot SlOts....my mistake. :D

Indeed - so why don't we clearly know about it? I always thought it was fair play of Aus Vegas to publish the exact odds for each slot machine (just a shame the software was a bit 'rudimentary' for me at the time) - I think it would be great if MG would do this.

Seriously - it wouldn't affect 99.9% of gamblers playthrough or selection one jot - they'd still play the ones that looked prettiest and felt fun; but it'd be interesting for the slot nerds like me :D

Maybe someone with contacts at Ladbrokes should ask for clarification, because I do not expect CS to understand the issue and to deal with it. Either they are manipulating the slots (unlikely) or their advertising is misleading (more likely).

There was a Slutland casino on Casinomeister :), you can still find it on www.archive.org .

Fortune Lounge casinos do something similar -- they list the 'Hot' slots and the 'Cold' slots. The list of about 5 games shows up in the message of the day and seems to stay the same for about a week. They say that the hot slots are the games currently paying out the biggest wins.

Ah okay that makes some sense. Simply based on the biggest wins posted in the previous few days i guess.

Claiming that those slots are theoretically more likely to pay out is very wrong. I vote for rogueing Ladbrokes unless they take it down.

Hmmmm...

Do Ladbrokes have a casino representative here?

I play at Ladbrokes and have played these so called hot slots.
My theory is that advertising the fact some slots are hot means everybody will hammer them, which means they will be cold as there will be more players feeding the same machine, so more mouths to feed for the wins to go round!

If there are such a thing as a "hot slot" it is the slots that nobody ever talks about, those slots we turn our nose up at, because we think they are boring and then stick to the tried and tested.

But..but..but.. It's all random... Isn't it???? :what:

Er, yes it is :) A clever marketing ploy from Ladbrokes tho!

The argument i guess is whhether it is "clever" or "misleading". I think they ought to clarify on the page what the criteria for making a slot "hot" is personally, like Fortune appear to do. I have a contact in their marketing department so I'll draw their attention to it and they can decide the best course. They are pretty switched on.

Okay. Here's how it's correlated.

They take the actual payout percentage for a game over a minimum given period of consequence (ie: 3 years), then take the actual payout % over the shorterm, ie: 30 days. The calculation is done "daily" to create a table of the slots that have paid out over the expected odds in the short-term period, and tout those that exceed the expected amount by the mostest as the "hot slots".

What this means is that recent games are not included in the calculations until they reach a minimum term on general release, in order that the long-term figure is better balanced to reality.

Also, the long-term and short-term figures are created from Microgaming data (presumably Ladbrokes specific). It's brand new and it's in a "trial" phase to see how it goes so they are tweaking it as it goes along. I asked if i could get the raw data to develop something around. If this is popular and successful, that is a probability.

Cheers

Thanks Simmo for looking into this.

At the end of the day, all the games are meant to be totally random anyway so what they are quoting is slightly misleading.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what they are saying is something like this:

'Number 9 hasn't appeared on our roulette wheel for over 1000 spins. Now is a good time to back it!'

or

'If your favourite number is 20 on the roulette wheel, this is your lucky day! - It has appeared on average, 3 times out of every 20 spins for the past 2 weeks. Now is a good time to back it!'

From what I have learned on this forum, every spin, every turn of the card, etc etc. is totally independent of the previous spin, turn of the card etc. Therefore how a particular slot has been playing the previous 2 or 3 weeks bears no relevance at all as to how it will be playing today.

It's just another advertising gimmick. I definitely will not be taking any of their so called advice!

But thanks again for looking into it for everybody.

What a joke, I think they really should take a look at the definition of "random".

"Having no specific pattern, purpose, or objective"
