Hmm - Whats Going On With Crypto VP?

I just noticed something while i was looking at Irebal's rather excellent double-RF win on Deuces Wild 10-play (https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/search) on William Hill 2005 edition.

In the bottom left hand corner there's a message that says

"Bonus paid on each discarded card returning to any hand"

?? Erm....correct me if I'm wrong, but does that mean you can now have a chucked card come back at you? That can't be right surely.

It makes sense if it returns to a different hand than your original one. If you know what I mean? I.e - It's reasonable that a chucked card could pop up in one of the other nine hands, as they're each theoretically drawing from a new 'deck'.

I think. Or something.

This doesnt seem right to me either - muti hand vp is meant to remove the cards you hold surely echoing whats left of the pack on the baseline?

This is a new game that Crypto calls "bonus" video poker. The discards are put back into the deck, and if you re-draw them you get a few cents bonus. The "bonus" game feature is available in all the kinds of VP Cryptologic has. I think I saw Crypto claim somewhere that these games pay back the same as the regular games. I would still prefer not to redraw my discards.

This "bonus" video poker is not to be confused with their Double Bonus video poker. Also all the old games are still available without the bonus feature.

Aha. Thanks Weedlayer  So the odds of Irebal getting one of his Royals in that instannce would have been 10/48 rather than 10/47 - or about 2% less likely basically. Conversely, in games with higher variance such as this, it adds more to the bottom end payouts and should make your money last 2% longer. Swings and Roundabouts i guess.

Does anyone know how the bonus is calculated? I was not able to find it in the rules. As I don't know the strategy for these games or even the theoretical return for optimal strategy, I will give them a miss for the time being.

I just tried it in fun mode, and it seems that you get 18% of the amount bet on one hand at Bonus Double Bonus, and 16% at Bonus JoB.

Wizard of Odds has addressed this new game. It has been around for at least six months. The amount of the "bonus" differs with the different games. And, if I remember correctly, for instance on Double Bonus, it is 9-cents playing for dimes and 23-cents playing for quarters, so in that case it seems to be a better deal for quarters. (9/10 versus 23/25).
