This is from the site:

Dear Participant,

We are two master students conducting a research study about customer loyalty and consumer behavoir regarding online casinos.

We ask you to participate in our survey 'The Online Casino'. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Results of this study will be presented on Casinomeister.

Don't forget to fill in your Casinomeister forum username or e-mail address at the end of the survey. Several prices (including money prices!!) will be given under the participants!!

If you have questions you can contact us by e-mail at the address specified below.

Thank you very much for your time and support. Please start with the survey now by clicking on the Continue button below.

So MasterthesisGR, did Casinomeister sanction this survey and the use of his name on your website??

By the way it is spelled "Prize" or the British variant is "Prise"

Dear RobWin,

thx for your remark about the priZes;)
We notified Casinomeister about our research and asked them to link us to the front page of their site. Unfortunately we did not get a reaction so far, so we made this thread anyway because of the lack of time. We have a deadline at the end of may to get enough respondents to make our research significant enough.

So feel free to participate, we don't joke about the PRIZES:D

Research

This is a crazy way to go about this, Prize incentive or not. If you ask someone for something, and they don't respond, it dosen't mean you have permission. Most likely it means the opposite. It may be different if we knew you, and you had 500 post. Good luck with your study, but please get permission first, just my opinion.

It is not a research regarding Casinomeister and we don't offer prizes or anything in name of them. We just do a research for our study and need online gamblers to answer some questions regarding different aspects of "the online casino" like website layout, promotions or trustworthiness.

If you don't want to participate, don't:) If you think it is fun to think a little about the different aspects of online casinos, take a look at the questionnaire. The prizes are only their for rewarding you for helping us in our study.

I understand that English may not be your native tongue, but at least use a spell checker before publishing anything live on the Internet. I find it hard to believe that people that are in graduate school can make such simple spelling mistakes, or at least not take the time to spell-check their work.

That also constantly amazes me too Win, this is the second college student that we have had here recently doing a survey and it has been the same issue with both of them. Do colleges not offer or require these basic courses any longer?

I have delinked the survey for the following reasons:

* No prize description.
* Surveys are supposed to be impartial - giving prizes defeats the purpose of the survey.
* Permission was requested and not yet given.
* Survey is poorly designed

I am aware that this may be a legitimate request; however, graduate students should also know the proper procedures for running a survey - from what I saw, it isn't scientific at all.

Just remember that these graduate students are our future. They are too (insert adjective) to make use of spell check? Although, I have to give them credit for using punctuation, I really hate reading threads that are run-on sentences.

I'm going to conduct a survey and give out prices.

No it's not a spelling mistake. When you're done I'll send you a link to the Canadian Tire catalogue.

Well I'm British & I've never seen it spelled like that!
Something you win is definitely a "Prize" as far as I am concerned.

To me, "prise" means: to move or force, especially in an effort to get something open.
e.g. "prise the top off a beer bottle"

Lesson over - let's go down the pub!

lol KK...:D

I think it's kinda like the way some of you blokes over there spell "organisation" and us blokes over here spell it "organization" :p

* Survey is poorly designed
You ain't kidding!
I just had a go at it to see what it's like - talk about repetitive!
First it asks masses of questions about your favorite casino - many of the same questions repeated over & over. But if you survive that the bit at the end where it asks you to compare 5 aspects of two different casino set ups seems endless - warning: you will lose the will to live before finishing it!

Also this survey has the classic stupid question only someone who knows nothing about gambling would ask:
How much do you spend on gambling each day (or week, or month, or whatever).
What does that mean? We're not buying sweets!
How much you deposit?
How much you wager?
How much you lose?
What if you win? You're not 'spending' anything, but you're still gambling!!!
Sheeesh!

KK

I have a serious question? Are you guys affiliates? If you are I suggest that you don't ask for others e-mail addresses. Because it seems to me that by looking at the survey you are requesting e-mail address or forum names. I think the person doing the survey should be unknown. I wouldn't want my e-mail address all over the internet and get sold to the highest bidder.

To me, this just proves that they are not graduate students, and are affiliates looking (albeit stupidly) for whales that they can try to reel in. The fact that they used the Casinomeister name just backs this up even more. If they were truly graduate students, they wouldn't be looking for someone to "sponsor" this survey/questionnaire/whatever.

Call me cynical, but that's what I gather from those questions.

As with clinical trials, "studies" such as this should be 100% anonymous, and in no way should you be offering incentives for people to take your survey.

If I were your professor and found out that you were using these methods to get your data, you definitely wouldn't pass...

I'm conducting a survey on surveys.

1. Are you willing to take surveys. (y) (n)

If you answered no to question 1 disregard questions 2 through 75.

You hit the nail right on the head. You need to step up to the plate and come clean. No one here is going to fall for the old okeydoke.

Most of the casinos listed use PlayTech software. Hmmmm I wonder why?

I don't think it is a bad idea to have an incentive to take surveys, but maybe ask members to pm you instead?

I've participated in several research studies for graduate work where there has been a small honorarium...my tenant recently participated in one for perfect pitch at the university here, and there are routinely allergies studies that offer substantial cash compensation.

But the members' comments about the quality of the survey makes me suspicious, and certainly is you can't wait a few days for permission, shows a true disrespect for Bryan and the members of this forum. Also, if you can't wait a day or two, you obviously planned poorly.
