Hi, I'm new to casino meister and I think its great site.
Without site like these online casinos well be ripping everyone off.
My question is abit difficult, I tried looking for the answer for the past couple of days so here it is.
I'm currently attending University and one of my business class project is to create any kind of gambling site. I decided to make a poker site, and because its a school project I'm not allowed to charge people any money, also we get higher grades if we don't spend money on the site, so ill try to keep that to a minimum. I tried looking for a poker software but ill I can find are casino software. Can anyone help?
Thanks

What do you mean "create"?

You sound like you are looking for a white label site that you can just put up on a server ready made. Those are definitely created to produce revenue and won't help your project.

I would be willing to give you pointers for creating a good non profit site.

But this is not any fast or easy project, it takes a lot of learning and a lot of writing and research. How much time do you have for this project? Do you gamble? What games? Do you know anything about webdesign?

Thank you for replying.
Some pointers would be great.
I have plenty of time on my hands, I'm willing to-do lots of researching and learning and plenty of writing. I gamble, I just play poker "7 hand stud and Texas Hold em" I just play with my siblings and friends, no online gambling.
I've created websites before but I use CMS's like Subdreamer.

You say you're in Portland--is that Portland, ME or OR? If so, I'm finding it a bit strange that the University would ask you to set up a so-called online gambling website, considering the current climate in the U.S. surrounding online gambling.

Good point. Which University are you attending?

I live in Portland Oregon and I attend PSU "Portland State University"
I have no idea why we have this project, my teacher excuse is that its one the hardest things to start up, and if we conquer the job of opening an online gambling site then were able to start up any small businesses.
Your guys help is greatly appreciated
Also we are not allowed to charge people and this site has to be 100% free.
So its not gambling because theres nothing to gamble with.

i'm guessing the main emphasis of your project is to create and drive traffic to whatever site you come up with, rather than the software, as creating software for a gaming site is an expensive business and requires teams of people to do it, which is why many sites buy sofware licences and dont develop their own software.

one possible solution is to join an affiliate deal, set up a site and have the download link on your site, to satisfy any legal requirements (which i presume is why it needs to be 100% free) you could go with one that prevents americans registering for real money play, thus when they download it they will only be able to play in "play money" mode and thus satisfy your 100% free rule.

you said you can do any kind of gambling site, i think you would be much better off doing a casino site, for example there are many providers out their who will let you brand their casinos for them, a good example is grand virtual who have a rep on this board, they even let you burn your own CD's so you can distribute, plus there is an add-on poker room (although you cant brnd this), plus many people on here know a lot more about casinos than poker, so people will not only give you advice on setting it up, but will be able to give you advice on marketing it, which like i said earlier i guess is the main focus of your project.

likewise you can do the same with this as i said earlier, use one that doesnt take US customers, thus people can only play in free money mode.

What companny should i do an affiliate deal with?
Also where can i buy programs to run poker sites.
thanks

unless you have large amouts of cash to purchase the software, then dont bother, even if you did would it be worth it for a project?, i havnt a clue how much they cost, but at a guess i reckon upwards of $100,000.

i'm not sure off hand which affiliate deal would be best for you, and if i did suspect i would be actually be doing the work for you.

to be keep the site a 100% free following my idea of having US players not able to play for real cash, then maybe one of the UK sites could be worth a try, for example ladbrokes, paddypower or wagerworks.

another one to consider is grandvirtual (AWA)/everest poker, who allow you to do a certain amout of branding yourself and even give you a file to download to your PC so you can burn your own CD's to distribute (this should get you some extra marks  ), although i dont know if they ban US players.

the best way to approach your project i think, is to set up a website which you will present as the website for the poker-room, and through your link rather than send people onto the poker web-site, you give them the download instead, so it appears that they are downloading your poker-room.

although this might seem a bit unsatisfactory compared to owning your own sofware and players, the fact is the majority of poker-rooms dont own their own software or a 100% of the players in the room as it is often a few sites pooling resources and players.

and while an affiliate deal might seem even less pure than that, it must not be forgotten that was what empire poker was essentially, despite there size they didnt own any of the players or the software, they were just a massive affiliate deal which on the outside looked like a totally independent operating poker room.
