That's the thing.....the number of times I've looked back on a session and thought 'that was my peak balance, I wished I'd withdrawn there' and then lost it all!

There should be a 'Peak-o-Meter' which tells you when your session is not going to get any better for that day. And by far the worst sin is reversing withdrawals, I've been pretty poor in that regard recently too. Self- discipline is the ultimate tool and the realization that the games are still going to be there next time you visit.

The only "skill" I recently used is when to cash out before the slot turns cold. With IR (the slot I have been playing most recently) this has worked because after I cashed out it suddenly turned and took money almost quicker than it gave.

How can you know that? You continued in playmoney-mode?
Then it's debatable if you got the same results.

When I cash out, I always leave some money in to play with, hence I know.

We all agree that slots are random and therefore all luck and no skill.
But as to cash-out determining factors such as..... when to quit, when to switch slots, when to raise bets... are these really skills? The law of physics says what goes up must come down. We are all susceptible to the ups and downs, gains and losses of slot machines. Sometimes I'm on a winning streak. If I'm not or my luck turns around, I stop what I'm doing. Never beat yourself up because you lowered a bet. What you get then you wouldn't have if you had stayed.

I too get a bit funny about knowing when to increase bet size or whether to just play minimum everytime. For instance, is it better to increase the coins per line, or coin value??

its complete luck on your end to 'walk away with winnings'. its skill on their end to make you 'walk away with nothing'. you can always walk away with something or nothing !!!

i have no idea what i'm saying ....... if you only played slot once in your life its pure luck but if you play somewhat regularly you develop habits (ones that give you the best chance of withdrawing hopefully) and you can use your experience slotting (i.e SKILL learnt) to use your judgement for what to do next (i.e cash out or smash your computer screen).

But if someone said ok here's £100 now I want you to try and get that to £1000+ by the end of the day then I guess some people would be more likely to do that than others by choosing different betsizes/slots . It's not that they would win more on average it's just that they would choose betsizes/slots that give a higher % chance of reaching this specific goal.
So "skill" in slots depends on what your goals are imo . Theoretically we are all destined to lose at w/e the RTP is but along the way you can have more fun and give yourself a higher chance of getting the results you hope for by playing one way or another . Just don't expect to win overall because slots only exist to take your money and they are programmed to do this ofc . But as we know you can defy the odds and with potential wins of 1000x or more then it can be a long time before the mathematical probabilities inevitably catch up with you .

Since its a slot a choose Luck in winning. For me the only skill that I can use is when to give up when loosing or when to walk away after winning. But still only you can answer if winning has to be used by skill or you just got a lucky day.
