Gambling Online Magazine Awards Seem Laughable

yea

i got the gold edition with the year to remeber for some reason.

casinomeister was listed under forums as honerable mention, i am not trying to suck up but gone gambling got the best forum, and that site is to congested, casinomeister is the best forum around......

as for the casinos in this edition, half of the casinos bought peoples votes by offereing them like 5 dollars for a vote. I think this magizine is a joke, the really only good casinos in it were inter, 32 red, neptunes, and trident

After seeing how many times Brandy was listed, I knew it was a fraud, but wondered if it had EVER been legit.

This sort of discussion (understandably) comes up every year right after the GOM announcements and the consensus seems to be that there are credibility holes on the method in which the vote is organised, but that the industry makes much of the results anyway. They certainly generate a rash of press releases from the great and the good!

We've all heard tales of vote-bribing by various operations, and there are always awards with which many agree as well as the converse in which many disagree.

Even assuming that genuine votes predominate, it's a subjective thing - the opinions of those who vote in the poll, which GOM claim numbered 27 000 this year (I think it was 30 000 last)

I guess it's something that should not be taken as too definitive - it was probably originally started as a bit of fun and general interest by the editor at that time.

I haven't yet seen any serious attempts to get such a player's poll on a serious level with ID verification, independent auditing, strictly enforced rules etc etc and I would think that such an approach would be quite demanding and time-consuming.

The opinions would still be subjective, but the accounting may be more precise!

GOM is a joke anyway. A got a few issues a while back and the poker articles would say "continued on page whatever..." You go to that page and there is nothing. The article leaves you hanging. What an awful magazine.

As soon as I see GOM awards mentioned in casino advertising I usually pass on that casino. The casino either advertises in GOM or paid for their votes. That particular casino will want to recoup their money so they may not pay or delay your payment (if you win.)

Yes I am paranoid of casinos and haven't played one in almost a year (other than Intercasino).

Brandy is really awful in its marketing antics but I have always been paid promptly by them and their support is quite quick too.

I will not play at any place that buys peoples votes.
It is unethical in my opinion.

It tells me they have something to hide if they can not get them on thier own.

I didn't pay for it, but I get this magazine. I hate it. I just throw it away. It's just a stack of ads. The first one I got I thought it was something worthwhile from the cover, but NOT.

November 05 article: "COY MANAGEMENT AT GAMBLING ONLINE MAGAZINE" at www.online-casinos.com
Old / Expired Link

Mentions, "Two ex-Microgaming staffers, Julian Perry and Gary Roudette are apparently at the helm."

Maybe you can give julianperry@btinternet.com a ring at his london technical office at the number listed on the gamblingonlinemagazine domain registration whois and see if he knows how to stop their junkmail.

Just a thought.

If you were really bitter, you could sign him up for a few copies of his own magazine. Link Removed (invalid URL)
