Great news. About time the UKGC enforced this. Casinos just got away with this. This will put a stop to all those issued where casinos refused withdraws as the player didn't have the proper ID. So this will stop people being shafted from money deposited beforehand.

Stops problem excluded players circumventing details to open accounts, means no excuses from casinos on withdrawals, prevents underage gambling, players more protected. A very welcome move. What's not clear are the penalties and what happens with deposits if casinos don't abide by it?

They are supposed to do it within 72 hours anyway aren't they?

"Supposed to"...You said it. Their verification of age checks on some operators are bullshit. They check 3 things. Voters roll, date of birth and overall age. If 2 out of the 3 match they verify, it's scandalous.

Then nothing will change as thats all they have to check, but it has to be done before deposit not within 72 hours :(

I am hoping they have to suspend in that event until the player can completely prove who they are but you know some will falter.

At least they will have to provide a list of ID that will be required before a customer deposits, which I've been saying for years they need to do. Plenty of people don't have photo ID and don't know they might have to provide it, the more arsey casinos (GIG for example) make it a nightmare for people who don't have the exact ID required.
