As "research" is mentioned, the only research needed is the one that has never been done AFAIK, relation between how "expensive" gambling is and how dangerous and harmful it becomes. Are the taxes implemented in a way that makes gambling more harmful?

BTW, the fact alone that they have introduced the 2.5 sec per spin, means that they agree. That they want to make gambling less expensive to make it safer. What about the RTP then?

Update on this, after looking into this further and @ThePOGG also looking into these changes, it could possibly be a move to exclude the use of Non UKGC Approved ADR's.

An updated article will be posted in the News Section of the site once confirmed one way or the other.

The UKGC will be the death of online gambling in the UK.

Who even are these people?

Gambling start to be really safe online shortly when it reaches point no one is willing to do that anymore..... We have quite many nice stories about SOW etc... hassles with nonsense demands, but if looking UKGC and some other regulators demands AND trainings provided for casino staff, there really can be seen that at least half of CM members are suspicious money launderers of terrorist financers....

These courses completed with tests are something really overdramatized and casino staff are taking it from there and only few add some common sense there what is reasonable and what is not. Like mentioned here many times, it's easier to get mortgage than get your SOW done these days for some casinos. When checking your bank statements, be ready to explain every single transaction in and out etc....

Happy that some still have that common sense instead of "computer says no" approach. These rules and practices are not made convenience of players. User experience is not number one when regulators make these rules and unfortunately too few casinos are thinking that approach how their practices feel for player (put yourself in these shoes and share your life story with casino to be able to play even you deposit average 200 quid monthly and never over 1000...).

And that is what I don't get. I am sure that UK banks already have practices in place to detect suspicious transactions in order to stop money laundering, so why the additional check by casinos if deposits are made from a UK bank account?

Stand corrected on this though......

You're correct, the UK banking system has rigorous AML checks in operation. Anyone depositing from and withdrawing to the same bank account should not be subject to these casino checks at all. The banks can already see all transactions relating to the account and would flag if there was an issue.

This leads me to believe that casinos aren't checking for AML in some cases and are actually intruding on your incomings and outgoings profile to ascertain whether you're a problem gambler risk to them.

With the above in mind, I'd suggest people should implement some of the voluntary RG tools on their accounts e.g deposit limits and perhaps loss limits too. This way it shows the casino you're not a problem gambler risk to them and it gives them fall back if a problem was to ever arise. 'Look Mr UKGC man, they had RG tools already set up'

I don't understand either, but if you see and go through these trainings and tests for casino staff in entry level, you will easily learn that most of people have gambling problems or are suspicious money launderers and casino needs to run very specific checks.

Fully disagree with these overextended checks where all your transactions need shown and if your mate loan/paypack few hundreds to your account, be ready to explain from where that money is coming from and is it legit....

You just need to fully fit in your profile casino is able to build from you. Deposit always same amounts in similar intervals not to go too high velocity in them, play same stake, don't dare to one month deposit over your income suggest is "healthy" level because you got tax returns or won from other casinor or lottery or what ever... and much more.....

I seriously haven't been profiled that thoroughly in any job i applied, Visa applied etc... what i've seen some casinos building your profile. Understandable when it comes to amounts/behavior which suggest RG/AML problems to be REAL high risk but now for some everything seem to be that. And ways how these are completed are quite horrible in too many places, some examples from insanity we have been reading from here, but just few examples. Hard to understand that casinos (some or most of them) can't find balance of UX (user experience) and following regulations, happy to know some are but not that many.

I see they are looking for some project managers...must be around the secret shopper compliance thing that they are pushing ahead with. Have read the guidance here, it's a little over the top imo.

I guess the first port of call should be the likes of Sun Bingo. Yes I registered there because the annoying advert made me do it!

Best part is, and this made me nearly choke on my liquorice, is how they 'implement' RG and Deposit Limits.

Want to lower your limits? No problem! We'll adjust your account in two weeks!
