Friendly question: but why all the account closures?

Hello all my fellow cm's,

Just a quick one from me, but seeing quite a number of posts from others saying things along the lines of: "tried casino such n' such, didn't like there withdrawal options, so I requested to have my account closed" or "tried this multi-platform casino, and one MG slots weren't loading, so I closed my account with them."

Now I understand if, say you had a gambling problem etc. along those lines, and wanting to do something about it, then requesting to have your account closed and making that effort to do so can be clearly seen as to why. But I seem to be seeing as of late a trend of people closing there accounts for trivial reasons when you can simply and easily just not play there, well that would be pretty clear. For eg. I try a new casino, don't really like it, nothing against them, just not for me, and now I click the X in the top right hand corner and I'm done.

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something, but to me, it seems like a lot of bother to contact CS to close your account if the reason is only minor. Especially as you most certainly know they are going to try and talk you out of it, tempt you with a bonus, and then it turns into 5 emails back and forth until they finally close your account - too much of a hassle when you can just simply not play there, well that's my opinion anyway. :)

What do you guys reckon?

More problems with this is that even if you have gambling problems, there will still be another casino to play at, trust me i know.

Kidding, aren't you? I'm one of those forum members you're talking about who has recently closed at least 7 or 8 accounts - It's no big hassle, really. I just open up a live chat window, ask to delete my account, some casinos ask for a reason - and I give it - and the job's done, account closed.

Never had a problem with "carrot dangling" or any other sort of delaying tactics ..... the reason *I* closed the accounts rather not not just play there was mainly due to the spam email problem, nothing more.

Here's the rationale behind that - you can log into a casino website and click on the "unsubscribe" button as many times as you like. 9 times out of 10 it will be ignored.

Deleting your account though - which can easily be set up again in the near future should you so wish - is a whole lot simpler, and effective!

Like davdav mentioned its not just about closing accounts for the fun of it,

To much emails, not enough bonuses, slow site, not enough games, People normally close when there pissed of with such things, Instead of getting pestered & having aload of sites opened people like to keep things simple, Keep to certain sites and no temptation to quickly sign in and be annoyed with yourself for playing there again,

Its like having a load of women on the go :) When you had enough you delete number, Only keep the ones you having some luck on, The rest is history, You do not want to be ringing them up after a few :drink:

It seems as though some casino/sportsbook groups are joining with other groups and becoming a new entity essentially under the same license. The problem arises when the new entity's terms allow for only one account among the casinos/books in the group. So how do you know who is using what license?

Keeping track of and staying ahead of these mergers is time consuming and tedious. Closing accounts you know you'll not use makes sense when all factors are considered. JMO :D

Does it seem like a good idea for a mod to keep track of these mergers and give us a heads up about which casinos are using the same license?

I know where you are coming from.

Many people seem to close accounts for slightest thing its just the way they think is best for them. Like yourself I just don't play at casino again if I don't like it but I never bother closing the account.

Maybe I would get upset if I never got bonuses etc. that I feel I deserve and I would react differently and close accounts. But as I have never asked any casino for a bonus after losing or for a birthday bonus I have never been refused one lol. I know im weird but I just am not the sort of person that ever asks for a freebie. If I get one without asking ill happily use it but just never asked for one and never will. But that's just way I am.

Guess people just feel that if a casino isn't offering them what they want then its better to close their accounts. Nothing wrong with that but like you I just leave accounts open and never go back to that casino.

I've only actually closed an account once. The casino was calling me constantly and would not stop no matter how nasty I got with them. Telling them to close my account made me feel like I was finally getting my point across but of course it did not.

It took a few more calls and me telling them they have the wrong number because I don't have an account with them for it to finally stop.

I still get lots of spam e-mail from them but at least the calls stopped. So in conclusion closing my account was a waste of time. If they had continued to call me I was getting ready to set them up on Auto fax and bomb their fax machine 24 hours a day for a few weeks until they got the message :D

Wow, kinda hardcore, huh? Remind me never to piss you off. :D

I completely understand and respect that, and do apologise if it seemed like a personal attack on anybody on this forum as I didn't intend to. I think my wording could of been better, I am sorry about that.

But thank you all for your responses and discussion on this thus far :)

Hah I really like your analogy on this, and makes sense ^_^

Ahh the good ole' auto fax, man that brings back memories :D

Have you read in full some threads some go into great detail why they close :D

Not particularly, nor do I have any post in mind that I'm referring to directly - just my everyday general browse and read through the forums, I had noticed seeing posts like that. Mainly replies actually, and notforum topics or OP's.

I too am with the OP - never closed a casino account myself (and I have over 270) - and never really understood why others went to the bother.
I always assumed it was just a "protest" move to try to get the casino to change their ways about something.

But having read this thread, I now have a better understanding of why some people do close accounts; the main reason is to stop the casino advising of crap bonuses or other offers of no particular interest. Me, I just ignore any offers under 100% but don't unsubscribe in case they do eventually send me something of interest.

Same with me with not unsubscribing etc. Of course you're always going to get those cheesy "Here's a bonus... JUST FOR YOU! ^_^" 75% up to $20!!! - hah ;D - just the daily standard everyone gets, but like you, I keep them open as sometimes there might be free spins or free credits. Plus any email from a casino automatically goes in my promotions tab with Gmail, so never interferes with my main inbox.

Im yet to close any down, You do not no may be one day there be something worth taking :)

Bingo sites are the worst, I was stung for for a £175 once as not deposit in 30 days,

Im kinda with you on this one, but i've closed my account on rogue casinos (before I found out about CM I played at Rival casinos).
But other then closed my accounts with rouges I haven't closed any since or what I can remember.

Only account I have closed down is my spin palace account. After having played there for 2-3 months exclusively and not knowing how much greener the grass was on the other side I found MUCH MUCH MUCH better places in 32red, Guts, Royal Panda, Betat and so forth.

What really did it for me that was up until really recently (I hope) they kept CALLING ME to let me know they are activating some stupid bonus on my account. The CS are so rude too - I told them to stop freaken calling me and I do not want to play here anymore but they don't even listen to you - they just keep proceeding with the bonus terms and saying crap like 'It would please me if you were the one to win the $3 million jackpot' or whatever. Kind of funny coz I was screaming at them at one point to S.T.F.U even though I could have just hung up but they kept on hammering me about how special I am to receive this bonus.

So I downloaded the client again, spoke to CS and said to close my account stop calling etc etc. Will see how that pans out
