Many casinos send free spins offers from time to time. And sometimes they are offered to play on jackpot slots. The problem is that as far as I know, it's actually impossible to win a jackpot using these free spins - it can only be won when playing with real money (or bonus money).

If I'm wrong, please correct me. If it's true, then many casinos are just cheating us with such offers, saying that you can win a life-changing jackpot using these free spins etc. I think it's not acceptable, just received one of those offers today.

Didnt a Norwegian win the Mega Fortune Jackpot like 1 year ago with free spins from Unibet?

* Nice rollover amount to play through then

I mean that it's impossible to win a jackpot from free spins themselves, not from the money that have been won during these free spins.

It was a Norwegian guy over at Betsson that in 2011 won about €11.7 mill when he played with winnings generated from a few free spins.

At that time, Betsson was giving away daily free spins on Mega Fortune if I remember correctly. This guy won a couple of euros or something, bet €0.50 and hit the jackpot.

But yeah - it is not possible to for example win the Mega Fortune jackpot when playing with free spins given out by casinos.

I do occasionally get promo e-mails that are a bit misleading like "get 20 free chances to win the Mega Fortune jackpot".

I think this has more to do with ignorance. The marketing people probably don't know that it is not possible to win the jackpot on free spins.

TBH, I don't believe that the reason is just ignorance. How can it be that I, the player, do know it, but casino people don't? Yes, it's possible that ordinary marketing people who just write promo texts don't know about this fact, but their chiefs/team leaders/etc simply can't be so ignorant. And all these offers have started not yesterday, but many years ago, so it's impossible to believe that this "little mistake" still has not been figured out. Just promo emails looks way more attractive when they offer a chance to win huge jackpot almost for nothing. And senior staff of casino's promotion teams do know this fact as good as you know that you are not a penguin :smilewink:

Also, these free spins offers can be different. Some of them are genuinely free - you just have to log in, open the slot and play. But others require deposit/wagering/whatever to receive those "free" spins, and I think that in this case the most proper word is "cheating", not ignorance. And I'm sure that cheating is not the thing that at least accredited casinos should allow themselves to do. There are a lot of players who don't know that jackpots can't be won with those free spins, and do deposits/wagering to receive this non-existent chance.

BTW, the offer I received yesterday was for Mega Fortune, required a deposit and came from accredited casino:xxx
