"Free Spins" banned in UK?

Here's my VS text. Certainly not perfect, but I am just not sure as too how much "nanny state" we need and wand to have. And especially, at what point will the UKGC say, that's good enough. I think they are just starting and it will come to a lot more hassle for all involved, casinos, players and affiliates.

All very good.

And now I am going to be pedantic for the sake of it and to demonstrate it is perhaps best to link to the t's and c's.

You have not explained exactly that the wagering depends on the rtp of the slots.

Huge thanks to Dunover for taking the time and effort for producing that video clarifying the situation with pretty much everything that has been going on. Really is a top bloke bloke to go out of his way to make that and help people down the right path. Kudos mate. Now get back to Rhino, I want some bastardfying moaning lol :D You Shitta :D

Rob :)

Sorry but reminded of this 'Free doesn't always mean free'

Imagine how much game rework will be required if the same logic is applied to how in game free spins are described.

It is confusing already. Got this offer just now:

Claim 5 EUR Extra on the Special Games of the Day

Hi ?????,

???? has a special Super Tuesday offer, that will give you an extra bonus on the selected games for today: Book of Aztec and Blood Suckers 2!

Log into your account now, October 17, 2017, and make your first deposit. We will then immediately give you a 5 EUR extra bonus* to play with on the "Games of the Day".

You will also receive 100% up to 333 EUR + 77 Free Spins on that first deposit you made.

I don't like "extra", it is not good enough, "free" is more accurate.
There are only 3 rules that are important: Don't lie, don't hide the trouth, fast cashout.
They don't care about the most important, fast cashouts. Anyway, the "free" "extra" thing is about the "don't hide the trouth", and the solution is only one, crystal clear and right up there terms.

Don't make them change the "free" with "extra", make them start with "Deposit" in huge letters, i.e. not "get 50 free spins" but "Deposit 100 and get 50 free spins" as a headline.
All important terms should all be right under the headline, with big letters, in 20 words, like this : "Max cashout 100, only after KYC, WR 3500 from your deposit, max bet 2, only on certain games."
Then link for full terms (full terms on same page if possible) and only after that the rest of the advertizement or offer.

It is that simple.

As there are some threads regarding this. I though would add my post here instead making new one.

I had a look around just to see what new casinos come out lately and who had UKGC seal. And must say I am absolutely shocked!

I have not linked them just search for them in google and have a look.

Buddyslots
Jupiterslots

Looks like they are run in a basement in Malta by 1 person. Jupiterslots contact email is Phil (1 person??)

Have max withdrawal of £50 on bonuses with no deposits. If you make deposits all winnings are restricted to £250 this is absolute ridiculous and rogue behaviour.

Also having worst terms conditions I remember seeing. Not following advertising guidelines set by UKGC!!

Mrjackvegas

Lordslot

Again not following correct advertising guidelines. (I don’t even want to think about terms and conditions towards players have not checked these yet)

I am starting to think that it is basically UKGC putting all these restrictions on affiliates, so they have free hands to make ton of money approving all these casinos by them giving up front payments to UKGC themselves. (this is just a guess"tinfoil" as I do not actually know how it all works)

Can someone tell me how UKGC can put on these very harsh restrictions, and not even follow themselves allowing all these 1 person “basement” run casinos to be safe for new uk players??

I better stop here as I am so furious right now after discovering just these newly casinos but will be loads more like this out there. What is your view on all this also hope to hear from Nicola (will try give her a pm if does not come across my post).

Had this e-mail from Rizk today...

"Due to recent events and change in rules and regulations in the UK, free spins are no longer allowed to be called free spins. You must now call them extra spins"

Can anyone actually confirm that is true? I paid the ASA for a

(worthwhile for every webmaster for peace of mind) on all of the sites I manage and this term wasn't flagged on any of them.

This UKGC/ASA clampdown is starting to get annoying. Only yesterday one of my friends got his affiliate account closed permanently after not adding "18+" to every YouTube video. With over 300+ active players he was pissed at the one strike rule by the CM accredited casino.

In most cases the 100 free spins on Starburst doesn't tempt me but I suppose many here like a freebie?

just call them bonus spins...problem solved

If you're complaining about bonus restrictions. I don't think the UKGC bother too much about restrictions, so long as those restrictions are clearly shown.

If you're just complaining about these casinos not following the correct advertising guidelines regarding 'free spins'. Then just take a look through the accredited list here at CM, and you'll find that the majority of casinos listed ARE still advertising 'free spins'

I also feel the term free spins isn't used right by the Casinos, as they are not free. Just call them Spins.

The word 'free' has more value to the casinos, than the cost of the spins they are giving for advertising purposes. My problem with this was that it was my work and after so long writing these where you have to pretend like 50 Free Spins for wagering 200 is like giving someone lottery winnings, the whole deception part starts eating away at you. I have never taken any free spins, and most of my friends who don't gamble can't get their head around why anyone would risk 2000 of their own money to win 100.

Taking the Free out of Free Spins will make the Casinos have to work harder and they'll know they can hide behind the positiveness of '500 Free Spins', it will also make that Diabolical Promotions thread shorter so I think it's a good thing.

The problem is always the same, communication; Free means one thing to a certain group of people, while the same word can mean something completely different to another group of people. People need to get their definitions of words right, stick to them, and then communicate.

Can you ever be sure what a Casino means when it says anything without checking the Terms and Conditions?

Those twits at the UKGC are already ruining gambling anyway, so instead of pussyfooting around what casinos may not call something and generally being vague, why not just be clear and tell casinos what they can call free spins?

They prohibit just about everything behind obscure interpretation but are quick to chastise casinos for breaching those invisible rules no one knows.

Give them a term they can use then. The only casino using alternative wording is BGO, and that's because they've been cuckolded into doing so from previous run- ins with everyone's favourite regulatory body.

Still a tad difficult to take 'fair spins' seriously, mind

Makes me chuckle every time a BGO email lands, so much so I've snail mailed them a copy of the latest Oxford English.

"fair" - examples DO NOT include, Finn and the twirly f'kin nonsense, 3 Dimensional Triangles Immortality bullshit, Startworst or anything for that blleedin matter which is less than 0.20 per spin, fair to YOU maybe but what about your customers????

Bring back 50x WR please FFS!

And a £1.50 deposit charge and £2.50 withdrawal charge don't make anything free.
