"Frankenstorm" coming up

i don,t know if the photo is real or not.

but i would,nt believe anything snoops says.

and i did find out it could happen so i,ll leave the rest up to you. believe it or not.

Here's an update from Western Mass, where I live.

We don't have to worry about flooding. I was really worried about the high winds, they stayed at 30mph from yesterday afternoon to yesterday night. Winds gusts were up to about 50mph or so. Our power went out twice for about 1 minute each time. I haven't been out around our town yet, so I don't know if there's any limbs down. They say we still can have high winds, thankfully it seems ok outside right now. We could still lose power. There was also a low tornado warning in Eastern Mass (where Boston is) last night and today. I haven't heard anything about it this morning yet, they were rating it at a 2 out of 10, so it was a really low warning. It's from the warm air, the temp is about 60 degrees here.

Now MOST IMPORTANT....I hope everyone that got hit bad NY, NJ, WV, CT, PA, I can't even name them all, there are so many states who got hit bad. I hope you are safe and didn't have much damage. Update us as soon as possible.

Thanks-Great to hear you guys are good for now Just Play! Still waiting to hear from Secret this morning (about 60 miles out of NY city).

Good thoughts for you all today:)

safe and sound in New Hampshire. Power back on. mostly trees down. NY got hit real bad. Flooding and fires

Glad you are safe Kotsy-guessing that 12 pack served you well:D

Wanted to add that I have not heard from Secret yet. Don't know if they are close enough to the city to have been affected by the power outage-but thought she would at least get my text.

Fingers crossed!

Glad to see that people are checking in. :)

On the news here they were talking about maybe some blizzard warnings a little further inland or in the wake of the storm as well - hope that doesn't include the places without power.

It was surreal to see the NY skyline all dark, wasn't it?

Yea it was surreal! I read that the flooding has driven the rats even further out of their lairs too.

So many things to deal with-It's sad to see all the destruction.

I was thinking that especially in NY City there are all those layers of tunnels underground...hopefully the water doesn't weaken the structure that supports all of that. But I never gave a thought to the rats.

Humans down there too

I wouldn't miss the rats, but I was thinking about all of those homeless persons who live in the far reaches of the tunnels. Did any of them evacuate?

That's a good point-if they didn't evacuate, how long would it be before anyone even knew they were unaccounted for? That thought does not bring good images to mind.

I live about 3 hours from NYC. Has anyone heard from LHofsdal? She lives about an hour north of me. How about rockycatt (he's in Boston) or BingoT (he's in Conn.) or Jasminebed?
We are still under a high wind gust warning until 5 pm (they've lowered it from 50-85 mph to 30-50 mph thank God!!!), but it's started to rain again :( We lost power for about an hour (lucky!), but they are saying until the storm moves completely out of the area there is still possibility of power outages.

They've lifted all of the state of emergencies for our surrounding counties about 9 this morning. All schools remained closed today because of the wind warnings. Watching the news, all the damage in the city and NJ...so sad! My family vacationed in Wildwood, NJ for the last 7 years and then we'd make the short trek to AC for some adult "fun"time. The last 2-3 years has been sad seeing the devasation from Lee and Irene and past storm...I don't know how they will recoup from this?

Well, I better close as my internet has been sporadic all day. Keep safe everyone! My prayers are with those who are still in affected areas!

Kim

We are all good around here.
We never lost power but the wind was crazy.
The coast here in Ct got hit hard.
The highways here were closed from yesterday at 2 til noon today.
And us great people were the only one's that could use the roads to go to work lol.

Just walked through nyc

Hi all. JJ from nyc here. Damn.... Born and raised in this city and I've seen blackouts, riots, terror attacks, but I've never imagined the wrath of nature could do what was done to a concrete megatropolis. A note to Harry99 I believe Secrect is in the west village section of the city and is without power or internet service. I'm on the east side and was lucky. A section in Queens on the beach lost 80-100 homes on fire at once last night. FDNY and all first responders are some of the most selfless people I have ever seen. These guys fought this firestorm for the most part in chest high water........ A lot of people in coastal areas still missing so continued prayers will help..... JJ

I'm here, Beth! Instead of having a nerve wracking day driving, I had a whold days worth of sleep! The Line Haul truck from MA, could not make it ( he leaves about midnight every day) so this wasn't possible.

I am glad we are all ok....although I have not read every post carefully, as I am still woozy from sleep...;)

I will read now.

JJ, Man have you city guys seen it all! Did we ever expect flooding like that in NYC?...and a crane?...Ok, Crane accidents in NYC is not a rarity, so I have read. Plus, the most tragic occurence since Pearl Harbour...

You city guys are made of tough stuff and strong. Glad to see you are ok, too, JJ:)

Hey secrect, glad you're ok and got some sleep. There's and an old time section in the west village called highland from many years ago and long time new yorkers still refer to it as that. Kind of like I was born and raised in "hells kitchen" and I can't ever see myself calling it "clinton". Anyway glad you're ok. So much of the infarstructure of downtown is underwater it's unreal. The world trade site is under 13 feet of water in the path and subway stations. That site just can't catch a break......They say that only 1 tunnel in and out of the city is funtional. 7 to 10 days before subway system is fully up and running......I'll believe that when it happens..... 36 people died in the five broughs......what a shame.......JJ

Glad you checked in secret. NYC is devastated. The crane is unbelievable to watch.

wonder what they will do.

watch it here. it's incredible
