Bingo T.Thank you for the reply and getting back to me.My message isn't about getting you in trouble with Foxwoods or with Mohegan Sun.You are only doing your part in making gambling more appealing to people.

The thing is Bingo T, many poker players, gamble on other games.Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have growing reputations for poker and other table games.

One of the major reasons people enjoy gambling in Atlantic City, is the fact that the En Prison rule is offered on Roulette.

The reason why many gamblers like gambling in the province of Quebec, is that they offer good limits on single 0 roulette games.

You were given a "general" answer by the pit boss, and I was hoping for an answer that the Casino manager would give.

That's why I keep track at what different limits on various games, that different casinos offer, to make my trip planning easier.

I seriously doubt that Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun are offering $5-$15000 single 0 roulette games.If they did, they would have some of the best limits in the world.Roulette players from all over Europe, would make trips there for that game.If the casino gives a fair chance at one of their games, for small and serious money, the people will go to it.

An example would be for the World Series of Poker.Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods both are involved in very big poker events, like the North American Poker Tour and World Poker Tour.

Maybe on your next physical visit to the casino, you will be able to jot down a list of table games and their limit spreads, to help the fellow message board people out.

It's easier for Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun to promote their poker game stakes, than it is for their table games.

It also helps you to mention these things on your bus trip, so when these gamblers walk into the casino, they'll know where to go to find their favorite games at the limits they want and can play at.

That's why slot players like to know where the 2 cent machines are, 5 cent, 25 cent, 50 cent, dollar, all the way up to the high end machines, to make their trip planning easier.It takes stress off the gambler, and encourages gambling.

I'm hoping that your follow up message, will be more specific than what the pit boss said.It would be great if the table stakes for Casino War or on Baccarat was $5-$15000.

Like on Hoyle Casino, many limits were listed for table games at $5-$5000; I wanted to know how realistic this spread was.

Can you seriously confirm that these limit spreads exist for the above games?

It would benefit many Canadians who are closer to the East coast to gamble in that region, than go to Las Vegas or Reno.

I should be able to sit down at one of these tables, and know that I have a good betting range for my bets, so if I want to lower my bets or raise them, that my bets won't be "capped" by a max bet.

The thing with slots, is that the games have the bet amount posted.This makes playing slots easier than table games.Less intimidation, less asking questions on what should be simple stuff.

It helps all gamblers to know this ahead of time, instead of getting angry because they didn't know ahead of time, and the information wasn't presented on the company's website, or explained properly by customer service.

Foxwoods celebrates its roots in bingo


In the beginning, there was bingo.
Before the slot machines, the table games, the buffets, the shows, the hotels, the glitz, the glamour and the convenience, there was bingo.
Connecticut resort gambling started in 1986 with a 1,200-seat tent hidden among the trees at the end of a country road, with no signs pointing the way.
That tent would double in size, blossom into the Foxwoods Resort Casino and over the next 25 years become the biggest gambling property in North America.
But it all started with a tent for bingo.
“They just flocked here and filled up the bingo hall right away,” said Michael Holder, Foxwoods vice president for bingo operations. “It was a success right from day one.”
Holder is one of six people remaining at Foxwoods who started with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe in 1986 with that bingo tent and worked continuously throughout the property’s ups and downs.
The Mashantucket Pequots opened the bingo tent three years after the U.S. Congress passed the Connecticut Indian Land Claims Act. By 1992, the tribe opened the Foxwoods Resort Casino, originally much smaller than the property now that includes 6,500 slot machines, 2,200 hotel rooms, 350 table games, two spas and two golf courses.
The Mohegan Tribe followed the Mashantucket Pequots lead by opening their casino in nearby Uncasville in 1996. Today, the two Connecticut resort casinos generate $1.4 billion in slot revenue alone and contribute $360 million annually to the state government budget.
Slot machine and resort gambling expanded to Rhode Island, New York and Maine; and Massachusetts is considering legalizing three or five of its own gambling properties.
But Holder was there, 25 years ago, waiting outside the bingo tent, wondering if anyone would bother to make the drive to rural eastern Connecticut.
“The players just showed up and never left,” Holder said. “The casino just enveloped us.”
To honor its beginnings, Foxwoods held its annual Firecracker Bingo tournament July 2, a 3,500-seat event with a $500 buy-in and a superjackpot of $1 million.
To honor those employees and all the other who contributed to Foxwoods over the years, the property will hold a much smaller anniversary ceremony on July 6 — the actual anniversary date of the bingo tent opening.
Rather than the lavish door prizes of corvettes and millions in payouts at the Firecracker Bingo tournament, the July 6 ceremony will be limited to a cake-cutting and a few remarks from Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council Chairman Rodney Butler and Foxwoods President and CEO Scott Butera, who started with the casino in January.
“They are going to give special recognition to employees that were here on day one,” Holder said.
On a normal day when Foxwoods isn’t hosting a 3,500-seat bingo tournament, the property pays homage to its beginnings twice. Seven days a week, patrons can play bingo at the bingo hall from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
The new hall isn’t the original tent. It was video bingo terminals and portable electronic bingo cards. But players can still play on paper.
“It has been fun going this all these years,” Holder said. “We look forward to playing this game and serving these loyal customers that come every year.”

Foxwoods: 25 Years Of Ups And Downs Since Bingo Hall First Opened

On a quiet road in southeastern Connecticut 25 years ago this week, "Mashantucket Pequot Indian High Stakes Bingo" opened as a 1,200-seat bingo hall with 50 employees. The hall was open Thursday through Sunday, "one session a day," Michael Holder recalled.

"That was our schedule for the first six years," said Holder, a former Electric Boat employee who was offered the position as the hall's operations manager more than 25 years ago. Today he's vice president of bingo operations.
That 35,000-square-foot bingo hall, about the size of a small supermarket, was the beginning of an empire that would become Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods, a sprawling complex that offers a full house of entertainment: table games, slot machines, restaurants, shops and concerts.

You both will have to read indicator section #13 of this long thread, on my posts to Bingo T, about casino limit spreads on table games, that MGM at Foxwoods offers to gamblers.

Every casino has a different limit spreads, and the laws vary from state to state, province to province.

It's nice to know ahead of time, how much money to bring ahead of time, or what information the banks need to know, so wiring the money down, for high limit play, will be easy to do.

The gamblers I know personally, vary in the incomes they all have, so some of these people like to gamble for higher stakes at table games, than those that would rather play 25 cent-$1 slots all day long.

I already have invites to check out Atlantic City, to gamble at their casinos, with friends of mine, so it's nice to know that we all could check out MGM at Foxwoods and gamble there.

Plus I like playing Omaha, and Canada doesn't promote Omaha games, so I play those online.

I believe that MGM Foxwoods offers Omaha games, so that would be another reason to visit.

There are gamblers that will play in Atlantic City just for roulette, because of the En Prison rule for roulette.Also many American gamblers who play roulette, want to play single 0 roulette.

So if Foxwoods offers single 0 roulette, with good limit spreads, it would keep the business of the gamble in their court, instead of having the business go to play single 0 roulette in Quebec.

There are many millionaires in the USA that love a good gamble, and roulette is one of these games they wish to play.Same with Baccarat.

Hopefully this thread will help you guys out, just like it has helped me out.

MASHANTUCKET, Conn.— Gov. Dannel Malloy says the state needs to do more to help promote Connecticut's two Indian-run casinos.

Malloy said on a tour of the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort casinos Thursday that the state has neglected its tourism funding and relationship with the state's tribes. He said the state will spend between $9 million and $15 million in the next two years to promote Connecticut and help draw more tourists.
In June, he kicked off a $2.6 million summer tourism campaign.
The governor's casino visits were part of his visits to Connecticut businesses over the past few months to focus on job growth.
Connecticut receives a portion of slot machine revenue. For the state's budget year that ended June 30, 2010, Connecticut received $350.3 million from the two casinos.

Malloy Affirms Commitment To State's Tribal Casinos


Although some people looked up from the mesmerizing glow of their slot machines to see what all the commotion was about, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy didn't seem to hold the attention of the Mohegan Sun's Thursday pre-noon crowd.

He visited the casino in Uncasville, and later Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, to talk about the state's commitment to reinvigorating its relationship with the tribal nations in what Bruce "Two Dogs" Bozsum, chairman of the Mohegans tribal council, called a recovering industry.

Bozsum cited the addition of 40 jobs to staff the Mohegan Sun's recently remodeled and expanded buffet and the upcoming creation of 125 jobs with the grand opening of Italian restaurant Balo as evidence that the casino is on the upswing. The resort and casino had its first-ever layoffs in September 2010, cutting 475 jobs.
Later, in a press conference at Foxwoods, Malloy apologized for what he called inadequate involvement and communication on the part of previous administrations and promised he would be more involved and work harder to promote tourism in the state. When the casinos are doing well, Malloy said, "The state of Connecticut shares in that success."
The governor also said he had hoped to pour $15 million into promoting tourism in the state, but said it is possible that might be cut to a minimum of $9 million should the budget and economy necessitate it. The futures of Foxwoods and the state, he said, "intertwine substantially."

Malloy said that the state is not certain yet how tourism in Connecticut has fared in this summer, but that he believes there is some indication of improvement. He said both Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium, often good indicators of market conditions for Connecticut's tourist industry, have seen improvement recently compared with last year.

The hotel industry also is experiencing a slight improvement, Malloy said. "It's not where they want it, but it's better than it was," he said.

Revenue from slot machines at both casinos was down considerably during the month of May, as were profits. No numbers have yet been reported for June.

Virginia Dodd, a Rhode Island resident, said she thinks government support of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun is a good thing. The patronage of the casinos speaks for itself, she said, adding, "People want to come here because of the casinos."

State Could Allow Online Gambling And Lottery Ticket Sales
Online lottery ticket sales, even online poker, could become a reality if Connecticut lawmakers approve new forms of Internet gambling during next year's legislative session.

A U.S. Justice Department ruling issued late last week clears the way for the introduction of online lottery ticket sales and online gaming in Connecticut and other states.

"It appears that [online] interstate and intrastate gaming is going to be allowed," Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Wednesday in an interview with The Courant.
Malloy, who has been outspoken about the need to increase state gambling revenue, welcomed the ruling, which clarifies the federal government's stance on in-state online gambling and opens doors that would allow Connecticut to remain competitive in a region where gambling options are multiplying.

"Obviously, gaming is an important part of our economy," Malloy said. "… It appears that the only thing the Justice Department has ruled is off the table is sports betting, with the exception of horse betting. So with that one exclusion, everything is up for consideration by the states."

To remain competitive, he said, the state must consider a plan that includes online gaming or risk losing revenue to other states.

With competition looming across all borders, online gaming in Connecticut might be one way to plug some of the losses that the state's two casinos are expected to experience when Massachusetts' casinos open.

After a four-year struggle, Massachusetts lawmakers last month legalized casino gaming. The law allows for the establishment of a single slots parlor anywhere in the state, and three full-scale casinos, one each in the Boston area, and the southeastern and western parts of the state.

Gov. Malloy: State Can't Stop Online Gambling
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is bristling at the suggestion that he's bringing online gambling to the state.

"I think there is a level of misunderstanding about online gambling and its prospects in the state of Connecticut," Malloy said during a brief press conference at the legislative office building earlier this morning.
"It is quite clear that Internet gaming is coming to Connecticut. Period. It's coming,''the governor said.
Malloy's remarks, which came at the end of a press conference about storm preparedness, were in response to a U.S. Department of Justice ruling made public last month.

The ruling eases the way for online lottery sales and online gambling.

In light of the ruling, Malloy says, Internet gambling is coming, regardless of what he does or doesn't do. The state of New Jersey is already drafting legislation to usher in online gaming and other states are expected to follow.

"We're going to have Internet gambling in Massachusetts, in Connecticut, in Rhode Island, in California, in Nevada and Mississippi and Alabama and I could go through all 50 states because the Internet is the Internet. You don't turn off the Internet at any state's borders," Malloy said.

"If it's allowed in any state, it will appear in every state,'' he added.

Malloy noted the irony of him being pegged as an online gambling proponent. He says he lost the backing of some Democrats from Bridgeport because of his stance on a casino in that city in the mid-1990s.

"I'm not bringing under any circumstances online gaming to Connecticut,'' he added, "it's a national decision that has largely already been made.''
Congress has show no inclination to stop the Justice Department ruling, Malloy said."Once it happens it's universally available in the United States and we have to decide what to do about it....Try and shut down AOL, try and shut down any service. You can't do it."

Blumenthal: Online Gaming a Matter for the States

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, long an opponent of online gambling, said this week that, while he continues to oppose it, governors and state lawmakers are the ones who will ultimately decide whether state lottery tickets can be sold online.

His remarks follow a U.S. Justice Department ruling last month on the Wire Act of 1961. The ruling is widely seen as clearing the way for Connecticut and other states to introduce online lottery ticket sales and online gaming.

That's something Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy would like the state consider. Blumenthal, however, said he believes the ruling is "very narrow" and focuses solely on the question of whether online lottery sales violate the Wire Act.
In a brief interview earlier this week, Blumenthal said the decision on whether online gaming will be permitted is a matter for governors and state legislatures, not Congress.
"I continue to oppose online gaming. The dangers of consumer fraud and scams ... are particularly significant,'' he said. "If there is an exception made for state lottery tickets, my hope is it will include those consumer protections against scams and frauds and also age verification [requirements.] ... But the ultimate decision is for the governor and the legislature to make ... it's ultimately a matter of state law.''

Yet a bill before Congress would legalize and regulate online poker on the federal level. The bill, H.R.2366, is pending in the House Energy and Commerce Committee's manufacturing subcommittee.

Blumenthal’s stance on online gaming in light of the recent Justice Department decision was recently discussed by conservative writer Don Pesci on his blog, "Connecticut Commentary: Red Notes from a Blue State." Pesci said he detected a thaw in Blumenthal's longheld views against online gaming, based on the senator's comments about the need for additional consumer protections should online gaming become legal.

In 2005, when Blumenthal was Connecticut’s attorney general, he told The Courant’s Rick Green: ``We have taken a more vigorous and more aggressive view about enforcing that act and the law. In our view [Internet gambling] should be regarded as illegal everywhere.''

Foxwoods Touts Luxury Outlet Mall, But Offers Few Details

Foxwoods Resort Casino celebrated its 20th anniversary Wednesday with a party, but underlying the hoopla and speeches lurked the hard reality of new competition, its own massive debt and the urgent need to transform its image.

Foxwoods hopes that a new, 85-store outlet mall with a focus on luxury brands will be the key to drawing visitors who aren't interested in gambling and will turn the resort into a destination where guests will book longer, two- or three-day stays.

Scott Butera, Foxwoods president and chief executive, told the hundreds gathered in the Fox Theater for the celebration that stepped-up competitive pressures on Foxwoods, along with the slowly recovering economy require that the resort take bold steps — the mall being a major one.

"It's going to be a true retail destination that we've never had before," Butera said. Construction is to begin this spring.

The outlet mall is to be built between the Grand Pequot Tower and the newer MGM Grand at Foxwoods. The plans seek to capitalize on an emerging trend of casinos adding outlet stores, which have been performing better that other traditional, full-price retail coming out of the recession.

But while officials of the Mashantucket Pequot tribe, joined by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and other dignitaries, unveiled the ad campaign, they did not answer the question many people want to know: Which stores will be there when the mall opens?

Greenwich-based developer Sheldon Gordon said Wednesday that he expects to announce in late May which stores will be in the mall. Sheldon, who is leasing the property, has built retail centers and components at casino resorts including Mohegan Sun and the Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas, as well as large outlet malls.

Gordon recently told Indian Country Today Media Network that he has "lined up most of the shops for Foxwoods."

Those leases include "outlet versions" of stores at other centers he has developed, he told Indian Country Today.

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler said the Foxwoods outlet mall is designed to connect the original casino resort with the MGM Grand, which are now linked by a skywalk, into a "seamless experience."

The mall will be "a cross between the local outlets and the Forum Shops at Caesars," Butler told The Courant. "This will draw from Boston and New York and hopefully farther."

Foxwoods now has 28 stores at its resort, mostly high-end. Officials did not refer to the debt problems that led Foxwoods to default on $2 billion in payments in 2009, but they indicated that the ambitious expansion is a response to the need to do something to refresh and reinvent the resort.

Butler conceded in an interview with reporters after Wednesday's festivities that he was nervous about the prospects of increased competition, but "we have the right team, the right components in place" to prosper.

Other added amenities will include a gas station, convenience store and restaurant, Butler said.

The outlet-casino combination, a growing trend, has been a successful formula in other parts of the country, including Las Vegas and Atlantic City and that success has sparked new ventures.

Linda Humphers, editor-in-chief of Value Retail News, said that the outlet mall trade publication has known about Gordon's plans and the Foxwoods project for about a year.

"Sheldon Gordon knows his way around high-end retail and he has outlet mall experience as well," Humphers said.

"In the past, outlet centers were near casinos, but not part of casinos," Humphers said. "You had to drive or take a bus to the stores. The new trend is for outlet centers to be part of the casino complex itself."

The Premier Outlet Shoppes at Foxwoods would follow that concept.

"The retailers decide if they want to be part of the project," Humphers said. "Decisions are based on location, traffic and the cost of going into a particular center."

Humphers said research by Cordish Co., developer of the Atlantic City Outlets, has shown that casino-goers and outlet shoppers share a similar profile: that of a 50-plus-year-old woman of middle to upper income.

Last July, Value Retail News reported on four outlet projects planned for casino venues in North America, including The Shoppes at Sands, which opened this month near the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pa. Among the stores: Coach Factory, Talbots, Guess, Chico's, Peeps & Co., and Corningware Corelle.

The Foxwoods mall will be within 35 miles of Connecticut's two other outlet destinations, in Clinton and Westbrook, whose stores include Coach, Talbots, Guess, Chico's, and Calvin Klein.

Mohegan Sun: new slot mechanisms?

I've been to the Mohegan Sun about 3 times within the last week or so and have noticed technicians changing out 'inner workings' on all (?) of the slot machines...and I mean a 'lot' of slot machines.
They temporarily close off entire sections of slot machines. Then each of the slots within that section has a large box, with shipping labels on the box, placed next to the slot. Technicians then change out the mechanisms with whatever hardware is in the new box.

The individual slot games appear to remain the same? Just wondering if the new mechanisms are a way of squeezing an additional advantage for the casino? Seems like a lot of work to change out all these slots... so I am guessing there is some advantage to the Mohegan.

Hours after Whitney Houston is laid to rest, her ex-husband Bobby Brown will hit the stage at an Indian Casino in Connecticut ... TMZ has learned.

Brown is booked to perform with the guys from New Edition at the Mohegan Sun Indian Casino at 8 PM EST on Saturday night.

Whitney's funeral is scheduled to begin at noon EST in Newark, NJ. It's unclear if Bobby plans to attend the funeral.

It's kind of like bookends, because hours after Whitney died Bobby performed on-stage with his group in Mississippi.


Wonder how people feel about patronizing this guy. Personally don't think much if he tries to play the sympathy card/capitalizes off of his ex-wife. Would be interesting to see what the audience there thinks.

Special Olympics Connecticut’s 2012 Summer Games

Foxwoods Resort Casino is thrilled to celebrate its twenty year partnership with Special Olympics Connecticut with the continued support of the 2012 Summer Games. The announcement was made on the heels of the success of this year’s Winter Games. Foxwoods once again will serve as the presenting sponsor of the aquatic venue for this year’s Summer Games scheduled for Friday, June 8 through Sunday, June 10 at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT.

“We’re incredibly excited to be a part of Special Olympics Connecticut’s 2012 Summer Games,” said Stephen Heise, Vice President of Human Resources at Foxwoods Resort Casino. “We have a long history of partnering with Special Olympics and we are thrilled to celebrate yet another 20th milestone.”

Since 1992, Foxwoods and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation have supported Special Olympics Connecticut by hosting yearly fundraising events and through in-kind event staff support provided by over 100 volunteers annually. For the last 19 years, Foxwoods has also sponsored the aquatics venue at Summer Games.

“We are privileged to have an enduring partnership with Foxwoods and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation that, for two decades, has helped inspire recognition and respect for the character, abilities and accomplishments of Special Olympics athletes,” said Beau Doherty, President of Special Olympics Connecticut.

One of Foxwoods’ many initiatives aimed to help increase awareness of Special Olympics Connecticut and its Summer Games is to spotlight athletes and families in the weeks leading up to the annual competition event. The Northeast entertainment destination will keep property guests and local communities up to date on the approaching games through their website and social media channels.

“On behalf of Foxwoods, we would like to congratulate all athletes who competed in this year’s Winter Games,” said Dale Wolbrink, Public Relations Manager at Foxwoods Resort Casino. “We are looking forward to working with all the Special Olympic hopefuls this summer. I didnt care for Foxwoods at all. The decor was unappealing, the waitresses old, one even bumped in to me
as she was drunk. It's way out there, and nothing else is around. Havent been to MS yet. I prefer AC anyway, even to Vegas. Vegas is too crowded, too hot, too expensive, too noisy, etc.

Derby Seniors To Foxwoods: No Dice!

A representative from Foxwoods Resort and Casino paid a visit to the Derby Senior on Main Street Wednesday morning in an effort to make amends for remarks published in the Boston Globe attributed to Scott Butera, Foxwoods’ chief executive officer.

The casino employee wanted to see if there was a way Foxwoods and the Derby seniors could “move on” from the controversy.

It didn’t work.

Derby seniors cancelled an upcoming trip there are boycotting the casino after a Boston Globe columnist wrote that Butera “can do without stereotypical busloads of senior citizens who show up with walkers and oxygen tanks” at the casino.

Butera told the Valley Indy earlier this month his words were twisted and he was repeating a statement the writer had made — and disagreeing with her.

The Boston Globe associate editor who wrote the piece stands by it.
