Fortune Lounge problems again

I totally agree with the fact their support is so poor causing the issues. I also agree with Bryan and others that there are surely many of these complaints that are lies and scams on the casinos but it seems this group apoligizes alot. At least they are decent enough to do that. They have apoligized for one of my issues in open forum, the other issue never got resolved. Also, their spam is bad. It hits my spam box so i dont see it until i skim the box to make sure its all trash. I have twice gone to FL to unsubscribe, maybe it is their affiliates that are bad spammers and not them? After my issues with them I dont get the idea I'm invited back, not that I'd go.

That hardware ID jinnia is something generated by Windows (the O/S), and used in the product activation system by Microsoft and not necessarily something generated or used by the casino to identify the computer. Since it changes when you add/remove various components, its unlikely they'd rely on that or even know how to extract it.

As I said before, the MAC address would be one of many things they could use to identify your pc. If you are connected via any high speed connection, then you are using a nic of some sort and have a MAC address. Even if you are using dialup, you have a pseudo MAC address that can be recorded. And there are still many other ways that you could identify a computer when it connects to the casino.

Just read the casino rules before you signup and play, since most of them say you can't use shared computers, or same household/school/etc computers. If you have any doubt at all, call or write the casino and ask them for a ruling.

that's right.

Wow, great point Jinnia! When we bought new computers for our home (2 of them) we gave our old ones to family members who live very close to us AND who started playing at the online casinos. This could look like fruad to a casino I am assuming because from what I have read all the ip address' could be the same because we live so close to eachother, as well as the computers being our old ones. I do know that our casino account numbers kept popping up on thier computers when they would try to join, what to them were "new casinos" Even though we uninstalled all of our programs except for Windows, our casino information remained in the computers data base. Rather than go through a bunch of crap, they both found casinos that we had not registered at & only use them.....but boy that can be confusing. Glad the computers went to family & not strangers. What scares me now is that I am learning that several casinos are affiliated with each other so we are all getting our casino info together to figure out who has what & where...again HOW CONFUSING!!!
When I intoduced them to the online casino world, I had never had any real problems. Now I keep them informed of many issues that I learn here. I recently gave them a few sets of rules that I personnaly try to stick with and if I should add any let me know.
1st rule: always do research on the casino
#2 always read T&C on bonus/payouts
#3 NEVER EVER EVER use bank account to fund ...only neteller or prepaid atm
#4 write down all info on what casinos youve joined & keep it somewhere safe
#5 FLUSH
#6 always max bet
#7 if you dont have the extra money to gamble with, DONT ASSUME YOU WILL WIN, when you are in NEED of money, thats when you never win!
Am I leaving anything out?

wanda5,

I'm sure jpm will explain to you, but your friends IP will be different than yours.

And not sure by not formating hard-drive if the information within the registry would make previously installed casino, software..etc.. read from that...??

Wanda, very good rule.
I think #7 is the most important one to everyone! And #3 and #4 are important to you. Did you get things clear out yet? Good luck!

Visited Las Vegas once. No gambling just see the show and watch people playing.

Yeah, some casino software does tend to leave some information in the registry and elsewhere, so that if you reinstall their program, it will magically pop up the account number. Formatting your hard drive will remove all that stuff, since you would be starting from a clean slate and reloading from windows on up to every application and driver, etc.

If you plan to do this, be sure you have ALL of the original disks and paperwork that came with the computer or you may find yourself stuck 1/2 way thru a reinstall and dead in the water. I wouldn't suggest someone do this unless they have some computer savvy. It can be rather involved. And you will be wiping out EVERYTHING. Emails, phone #'s, documents, applications, favorites, all of it will be gone.

jpm,

could an f-disk be performed on C drive only? This would wipe out registry also?? If so, then any folders and/or files they wanted to save could be moved to their D drive, E drive ...etc.??

Then they would be starting off with no information within the system from previous installs??

I use a program called REG CLEANER and it gets rid of all those registry BS that software leaves.

In that case jinnia you wouldn't need to use fdisk, since the drive is already partitioned into one or more drive letters. In fact, doing fdisk when you want to preserve the other letters could be problematic so I'd recommend against it.

You could move your files & folders you wanted to save to D: or E: or whatever letter you have available and them perform a 'Clean Install' with the new operating system. This will wipe out everything on the drive you install it to (C: in this case) and install a fresh operating system. Though you could move the folders that contain your applications (like Office, etc) those would not work after you install the new O/S, you'd still have to do a reinstall. But documents, quicken/money files, and other such things would be retained.

As murder1 mentioned there are programs like Reg Cleaner and others that I can't think of (CleanSweep maybe?) that can clean up your registry of all the droppings that removed applications might leave as an alternative to reloading the O/S. But that is still the most effective way to flush your computer!

Hi JPM and murder1:
Can you help me to clean out my computer. I dont understand much of what I read above, however, if I orderded the Reg Cleaner program, would that clean out my computer? Also, my kids are forever clogging up their computers with stuff and I need to teach them how to clean up their computers. Any help you could offer would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Linda

thank you for explaining that to me jpm.

Any time jinnia!

Linda, I'll drop you a note ang get some more info and see if I can point you in the right direction. I don't want to get any more off topic than I think we already are! lol
