LOL I think this problem is more widespread and not only isolated to a few players.
Especially in tennis there were a lot of dodgy players in the lower regions like the Challenger tournaments that were caught either betting on their own games or mess with the outcome.

It is not only players in several sports, it is the big gambling mafia that have a big hand in this as well..

i used to play snooker to a fairly high standard met a guy who was world amateur champion at the time mention no names he told me most of the guys who were low ranking hence lower income were all betting on the outcome of there matches often getting money on intending to lose their match by a certain frame score ie reaching a frame or two then just chucking the towel in shocking really

He’s was a genius, had he played outside of England he would of won European player of the year easily a few times.
