I just can't seem to win at all lately, I get the free spins but they don't pay much. I was hoping my luck would turn this weekend, but it didn't. Even at 32Red, my favorite casino, I've been having one bad run after another. Is anyone else on an extended losing streak?

I've been on a losing streak too - for at least the month of December. The casinos must have felt sorry for me today (playing slots
on Christmas Day  ) because I was able to do really well at Vegas Slot playing Ho Ho Ho.

Also did well on bonuses from Wild Jack, Maple and Spin Palace, all within the last few days.

I know this won't last, so will keep my wagers fairly low over the next couple of weeks and hopefully build up some moolah.

You and me both. Except I don't get the free spins AND they don't pay much. Lousy month. I swear, the day after I bottomed-out, all of these Winner Screenshots were being posted. I guess I just missed the good "luck" that was going around. I generally like to mix-up whatever I'm playing, jump between slots, 3-card poker, Let-it-Ride, BJ (not anymore though), and VP. I found that while I had decent balance playing the card games, the slots were merciless (and I ONLY use the casinos FLASH versions these days). I think my lifetime record for the month of December is BRUTAL.

I think that this particular losing streak couldn't have come at a worse time, because I would have liked to have done more with Simmo's! wonderful slotjunkie.info tournament. Now, I'm merely a spectator. :(

Since I must tabulate my results for this year (since it is soon to be the end of the year), I'm going to see what I already know. Which is that I never had 1 major bust-out period (or coming-out party) for this year at any MG casino. Considering the amount of deposits I've made at the majority of them, I would have thought that I could have punched-through JUST once. The best I had done was make it to $1,800 (at 32Red on my very first deposit if you could believe it), but I only made it to $1,000 on 3 other occasions. I would think that one needs to make it to $5,000 and higher a couple times of year to offset the losses (depending on how much you're depositing).

I did however, hit a Royal Flush for $4,000 at Royal Dice in the 1st quarter of this year (I even managed to take that up to $5,800 :D ), but that's at a PlayTech (and not a very reliable one at that). "Luck" and "johnsteed" don't seem to go hand-in-hand when it comes to MG casinos.

I know what you mean about punching through, the last time I did it was about four months ago. I started with $80, worked it up to $230, then stopped. The next day I was playing Spring Break at 2.25, was down to about 100 hoping the feature would hit. Just then, five beach parties come in, and suddenly I have about $1200. I went straight over to Thunderstruck on a whim, and started playing $9/spin and the feature hit within the first 10 spins! It hit five castles and five horns on two different spins, and took me up to $4200. I then played Ladies Nite at $9 for six hours straight  but never had any big wins, finally cashed out $2k (I should have cashed out the entire $4k but couldn't seem to find the button  . I've been hoping to have a run like that again, but it just seems like it won't happen :(

What a great streak. I've had stuff like that fairly frequently but way less than the total opposite obviously - lol. And like you i tend to lose about half of the max. before realising that i should really cash out ;) I'm working on a formula for 2006 to make myself more efficient in that area. I may post it when it's done. The problem has always been too much time for me i think.

How about MONTHS of bad luck? That would be me from June-December. There were spurts of good things happening, but they no way made up for the losses. 2004 was a very good year, I was way in the black, but 2005 wiped that out. If I hadn't hit a royal in Vegas I'd just have to say "I quit" not that that money is going into the online casinos.

I am always saying I'm going to do something and not doing it, but one of my resolutions for next year is to have a monthly budget and stick to it. After seeing the wrath of the bad luck demon, I'm a believer it can go on and on and on. Playing many hours of video poker several times a week with no royal from March til last week was very painful. Not even a nickel royal!

Me too, I've been on an unlucky streak since summer... apart from the occasional glimmer of hope, just keep losing. Very rarely even see my balance go back to my original deposit....

To be fair, I did get a biggish win at the local brick&mortar, which covered some of my losses (about 20%) for the past few months. But online, no luck for me. This year, the house edge has been about 80%.....

But that's just the way slots are. Risk of ruin = 100%. Better luck in 2006!

    Cheers,
    SM

I've been slaughtered by VP since last winter. It seems that since Feb/Mar of this year gambling (particularly VP) has been hell bent to eat all my money. If it weren't for a couple of bright spots from slots wins I'd have sworn off online gambling altogether.

The hits are few and far between. I hit a Royal the other day... First one in months. Here's the good part. It was on 100 play Aces&Faces, and it was ONE royal flush. A whole $40 worth. I do not like anything more than 3 or 4 hand VP anymore as I never get dealt those miracle hands that other people seem to get and which make multiplay worth playing....

Glancing at my annual totals... This month has not been good... hell, this YEAR has not been good. Barely scraping by ahead at a couple of casinos, down at most. And I'm not used to that.

Well, I'll be damned!!! Looks as though our VP luck dropped-out from under us at the same time. :notworthy

I wish I knew how good of a time that was while it was happening (sigh).

ALL of my 3 Royal Flushes came within 6 weeks of one another.

    February 1st - Royal Dice $4,000
    February 5th - Royal Dice $1,000 ;)
March 10th - BoDog (the dawg of online - or is it mutt? - woof!!!) $6.25

I stopped playing VP until this past month, seeing how I went roughly 6 months without seeing much of anything, that is... other than prompt losses. While I'm going to busy licking my wounds over the course of the next few months, I'll still remember that VP on the way down is MUCH kinder than slots on the way down. Little ups - BIG downs

Best of luck to all that are presently getting hammered while still having enough juice to stay in the game, and may your luck change for the better. :)

Sidenote: MUST remind myself to deposit just enough to have a go on VP during February - March.

With the RNG in place how can so many be losing?
    RNG: ripoff number generator.
I plated the Halloweenies slot the other day.Deposited $50 making bets of $1 or .20.Couldnt hit three rabbits for anything until I was down to .32.Then hit three for about $4 in credits. Then nothing til I was down to .24 and they came up again.Theres nothing random about not hitting sh*t for a few hundred spins and then when youre down to your last quarter all of a sudden it hitsfor about $7.Theyre just trying to sucker you into depositing more. Nothing random about it.

Something has definitely changed, it just doesn't seem to be the same as it used to be. If my "luck" doesn't turn very soon, I'm going to have to quit for good, as much as I like playing.

As I said earlier (in another post?), I have been losing my butt off at Inetbet for quite a while, so I decided to try INETBET one more time to see if It was actually me or the casino since I have been hot in the last 2 weeks ..well..it took my $100 so quick I fell over in amazement...definitely one to stay away from for a long, long time, for me...went over to another casino again, Sands of the Carib, and hit a nice one..so, my winnings streak is not dead..it's actually the casino IMHO.

Moving on down the line......back to where the money is flowing back to me... (isn't that a song or something?)

Gambling is streaky. And frankly, casinos are set up for us to lose in the long run. Players have very few resources to increase our advantage even slightly.

However ... Do we know how the slots payouts are set at online casinos? 73%? 85%? Lower? Higher? Do payouts vary per casino? Or only vary between softwares. (MG and Playtech, for example, each having their own payout and hold percentages.) A casino or software's average payouts can give us clues, but if their progressives payouts are included, the averages are skewed. I do know that VP should pay out as per the pay tables. But can those RNG's be set so that fewer RF's result from, say, drawing one card to a dealt 4 to a RF? I know nothing about the math of these things. And I know even less about the inner nuts and bolts of online casino software. Guess I'm just wondering out loud. :D

I had a really bad run at inetbet. I played over 500 dollars in the NICKLE machine mind you on the sevens inferno. I could not hit sevens for the life of me!!! On one 150 dollars, I hit mixed twice. Thats 3000 credits and not getting sevens. It had be obsessed. I went in there and stupidly played hundreds more over the past few days, and harldy ever hit sevens.
Something is not rite there. I have always loved this casino, but I have never had a 7's machine play that bad, land based, or online anywhere. It would run through 50 buck at a time without ever hitting the darn things, Hardy seems random. I know you loose sometimes, but thats just not the way that game plays. I should have just stuck with the poker, I harldy ever do to bad there.

This was my favorite casino until now. As much money as Poured into that darn slot, and it paying nothing at all, Im done there. I blew my last 300 bucks there tonight. Time to find a new favorite.

Heavy streakiness is to be expected when you play slots, and is consistent with randomness (VP is much less streaky). You lose most the time, then sometimes (rarely) get a short lucky streak when you may recover some or most of your losses, could be months in between.

Based on the PWC reports of 32Red monthly payout %'s, I estimate the average return of the MG slots to be 94.5-96.5 %. There have been some months below 94% and some over 97% (one even >100%), which is a testimony to the inherent streakiness of slots. My local Brick and Mortar (state owned, heavily regulated) has their slot payouts set between 93-95%. MG is slightly better.

I don't know of any Playtech casinos that publishes these reports. I think it's essential information for the player. I've taken the sign-up bonuses at a couple of Meister-approved Playtechs, but I'm disappointed that they do not have this information posted, and would like to see it before I play more there. Meister, any chance of this happening?

Lasseters and AusVegas have individual slot %'s posted. They go up to >97%.

    Cheers,
    SM

    On a Winning Streak!!

I too have had a terrible run of luck for the last 4 or 5 months. Hopefully this too has passed.

Just hit a royal at Spin Palace (see winning screenshots) as well as $1700.00 at All Jackpots casino, $600.00 at Lake Palace, $500.00 Royal Vegas. This has been in the last 3 days. It started with a $700.00 win at Spin Palace (my new favorite casino).

These were all done from a $50.00 deposit at each casino. Hope everyone's luck changes for the better.

    Happy Holidays!!

    Nice!

    Wow, that is great!

As far as RNG random, and the thing about getting down to your last coins before you hit something...it happens in land based, too. Last Monday we played some gawdawful ugly Wheel of Fortune downtown at Golden Nugget. Neither one of us even got a hit on whatever we put in. I got down to 1 credit and hit the bonus on that one line...250 credits. I couldn't believe it. Wierd stuff happens with slots.

I'm not defending online casino RNG's or saying they aren't truly random, I really don't know, but I don't see much difference in my personal play on slots in live or online casinos. I don't play them much, though, just when I get bored with VP.

If you guys want an industry thats at least reasonably close to expectation then you'll need to push for a client/utility that records the data and allows players to exchange that information with each other in text format or whatever

That way we can all spot those places who seem to be "flipping the switch" and avoid them.

Heres a guy at WOL who recorded his data, but he's the exception, most folks are too lazy.

Whenever I have had my doubts concerning the validity of the Microgaming RNG.. suddenly my whole theory gets blown out of the water when I see Slotster's latest screenshots of incredible hits on large bets. After all... if you were to "fix" the software, wouldn't you allow a few nice hits at the lower wagers rather than the higher bets? While I can agree with many here that the slots seem to be more of an uphill battle lately than ever, I don't know what to attribute it to. Here's another question you could ask yourself when you begin to doubt this industry. Why don't we see any disgruntled former employees of the online casino industry going public and revealing the secrets and dishonesty of it all? Slots are a perfect example of being at the right place at the right time. We've all experienced this phenomonem and I'm sure that we all will again.......... just some more than others.
