Brilliant win from Wales yesterday .
To go to Baku in that heat Turkey fans everywhere and beat them.
Hopefully that's us through to the next round pretty much.

And Bale's going to join Pearce and Southgate in a Pizza Hut advert soon ;) ("Miss?!", "Miss!", etc) - sorry for non-Brits, it was quite a funny TV advert after Euro '96

Edit :

I know a lot of members here are from England and Scotland. So what are your thoughts on tonight's game?

I hope it's not going to be a boring 1:0. I put a bet on both to score, so GO SCOTLAND ?
Probably better to bet on a player from each side being sent off. I hope I am wrong but it’s possibly the most overhyped game in history.

Another bore draw but now they really are boring with today's change of game.

Derby's miss the crunching tackles and the passion now with modern rules.

Was rooting for Scotland to score just to spice it up a bit :)
Find yourself a wee amateur team round your way and experience it the way it should be: elbows going everywhere, the use of the head without the need for a ball near you and some old fashioned boots in the nuts.

Yeah, the games been a tad sanitised over the years; though, if i was on 200k a week , think i'd be more concerned about my instagram deals as well.

Never been a fan of that counter-attack style unless its top-draw and I dont think we are.

Best defence for us is to attack against them for sure, but I agree, Southgate is examining a variety of ways to put 11 players on the goal line as we speak.

Harry Redknapp should have got that job, probably one of the best at getting the most out of a player.

When all said and done, England have some very talented players. Unfortunately as team they are predictable and don’t really seem to have a pattern of play or total commitment.

Let’s be honest, when was the last time you watched an England game and a passage of play actually made you say “wow”. I can’t remember for sure but probably 1996 (a while back then?) Apart from getting knocked out last time by Iceland but that was “wow” for the wrong reason.

It’s sad but I honestly think the quality of football has gone downhill. Perhaps it’s my age, I am willing to accept that our perception plays little tricks as we get older and we always think our day was the best but when it comes to this matter I don’t think there’s an argument to suggest otherwise.

I mean football should involve running, shouldn’t it? 95% of the games are played at walking pace nowadays. The big mistake England always make is playing in a style that suits their opponents. By that I mean trying to outclass them at their own game.

They will never do that as a large percentage of teams have way more technical ability than we do. The way to beat them is to play our natural game. 100 miles per hour, get in their faces, don’t give them a second on the ball, press high, run them into the ground.

People say, a team can’t do that for 90 minutes as you need to be super fit. Well most of them get paid a couple of hundred thousand a week and have nothing else to do but train so they need to push themselves harder and attain that level of fitness. When was the last time you saw an England player almost out on his feet at the end of a game?

Probably Nobby Stiles and several other players in ‘66. Oh yeah, the last time we actually bloody won something. Since then, I can count on 1 hand the times I think England have put in a good performance. It was once considered a great honour to play for your country. It strikes me nowadays as most of them don’t give a shit, more worried about social media and the likes. How times have changed.

So true. My generation was the so called golden boys beckham lampard rooney gerrard to name a few on paper great great team
But they were I would say the start of the social media footballer who’s hyped up online and can’t produce the goods. Some would argue that our best chance was with gasgoine and co I agree they had serious balls and played with pride for the shirt. On paper the current team is world class but it doesn’t translate on the field and it starts with management why did we choose a weak yes man and why do the rotten FA continue to get it so wrong with our managers it’s all about the money and that’s all it ever is about. I would love to see us progress, why do we try and stifle creative players and favour the backwards and sideways players it’s depressing sorry for the rant haha. And if you look honestly at the premier league most of the best players are foreign and that’s just facts, we get it so wrong with home grown talent and it starts at academy level they aren’t allowed to be creative and it’s so rigid it’s almost like your taught to fear going forward and always thought to look for the easy pass rather than creativity and trust me I know as I was in a academy up until age 16 I was dropped from a great height crushed me at the time

Chainsmoking, using a farily round rock as ball, 2kg shoes etc might have contributed to people being out on their feet after 90 minutes.
:p
Also, the world was in black&white back then (i have video evidence), imagine if your opponents had similar design on their shirt, super confusing.

England have no chance. With the squad they have, probably only 3 or 4 really good players who would be marketable, Kane, McGuire, Foden and Grealish. They have been and always will be limited under Southgate in what they can achieve.

In the last world cup they almost fell into the semi finals after avoiding all the good sides. The only decent performance was beating Sweden in the QF, a side comparable to ours. They played a good team 3 times, Belgium twice and Croatia once and were outclassed in all 3 games. Little has changed since, Germany aren't very good right now but are still far superior to us.

It took Sterling 61 games to score a tournament goal eventually, his decision making is poor and is too easily brushed off the ball and is not good at scoring goals - this is a classic example of players being overrated when playing at clubs that have the pick of the world's best players and the corresponding budgets. The machine gun midget is made to look good at Man. City by those around him, now he hasn't got that in a mediocre England team and needs to be creative himself, he's mostly anonymous. Another example of this was Andy Cole, had great players around him at Man Utd. but was woeful for England, finally scoring in his 13th. game against Albania after the game was already won.

We have plenty of game players but no real game makers and that's where Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain and Portugal are superior and therefore have the edge. I mean, Scotland are hopeless and they almost beat us last week. We don't have the quality of players to play the Guardiola-style football Southgate is trying. This has never gotten us further than the old double-centre forwards and wingers crossing system of the 80's and 1990's. And it won't this time.
