Anyone looked at the Derby yet this year?

As much as I think English King has a good chance, I wouldn't be taking 5/2 about it.

The one I like at this stage is Highest Ground, still available at 20/1 with Hills, if it runs, I'll be surprised if it doesn't get placed at least. He was very impressive in his last race, pulling away with ease, against a decent field. The question mark is, will he run. I think yes, as Stoute ran Ulysses in the Derby before he was ready, and I see no reason he won't this time, thats assumig he isn't quite ready yet.

I think if he is a confirmed runner, then his price will be closer to 5/1 on the day. I rarely bet ante-post, but will be risking £20 on him at that price, basically the bet is, 14-1 that he runs in my view, as you could lay off part of the bet on the day, leaving you a free bet at around 14's assuming he is 5/1..6/1 on the day.

Anyone else got any views?

Ive looked at it a bit but not enough in any great depths yet , but I agree that the favourite is far too short for all he has achieved. I don’t think it was a strong Derby trial that he won at Lingfield even though he did win it impressively.
Stoutes horse looked the part, though I’m not convinced that the horse he beat the other day is as good as they thought it was.
If Kameko stays he will have a great chance.
I thought that Pyledriver ran a great race at Ascot and it he had a more fashionable trainer he wouldn’t be around the 20-1 mark, but I’m glad he is and I will have a few quid ew ante post .

Frankie is reportedly very happy with English King after riding him out for the first time recently. So much so that I suspect English Kings price will only shorten. But I'm not much of a one for on the nose betting and I will wait until closer to the time and once the runners are confirmed before I look for a value each way bet

I haven't decided what to do today, but it's between Mogul, Highland Chief Kameko, in that order at present.
Will probably so a RFC on them all too.

Will he improve enough on his 4L behind Pyledriver the last time out?
The reason I have gone for Emissary @33/1 EW is because despite needing the run last time out he came a very close second.

I think the race is really open, did the forecasts cos the amount of times I get it down to 3 and I pick the wrong one is unreal, at least that way I have a chance, only 50p's though so £3 total stake, of course now the outsider I picked will come second to scupper the forecast and really piss me off

I stuck my free £5 on this but I've done my bets for today so I'll just add it to my war chest for tomorrows racing

What a terrible race that was, wtf were the jockeys thinking letting him go that far ahead, well played to the winning jockey for the tactics but you could tell 3f out he wasn't coming back to them, yet they never started chasing him until far too late,

I think that the second and thirds places suggest that the market leaders where not as good as was thought

think its more that the race was completely falsely ran, every jockey bar the winner should get a 7 day ban for that, they never got anywhere close.

No way in the world would will any of the first 3 win another group one race this season, it was probably one of the worst run races ive seen in a long time and none of the other jockeys put their horse into the race

I would have to watch the race again tbh.It will be interesting to hear what the professional pundits have to say too.

They interviewed Balding just there now on ITV and he was in a state of shock, could hardly speak and he had the second and fourth horses in the race.
