Alright everybody. Before I even attempt to play there how are they? I see they allow United States players. Are they for real???

well they are for real.

it is weird though... You don't play against the players at the table you play against another player at a different table that gets the exact same hand as you.

I didn't much like playing there, I can't deal with the fact you can win every hand and still end up losing.

It's not

it's not just good old fashion texas hold em? Don't think I would like it then. I use to play at Absolute poker. But with all the scamming going on there, I quit. Now I'm looking for a good poker room to play at for U.S. players. :what:

Doyles room is taking US as well.

Duplicate poker is playing NL Texas Holdem. But the difference is that there is a duplicate table to yours, where the players get the exact same hands as the players at your table.

How you win is, accumulate more chips in the game or round than the player at the other table that is getting the exact same hand as you.

So you are not only competing with the other players at your table, you are competing with with someone at another table that is getting the exact same hands as you.

hard to explain... till you play.

Apperently its a pretty slow game. Anyone who gets frustrated with hand for hand play in tournaments will know what I mean.

If the other table is slow, it slows your game.

Ive not played on the site myself, just heard about duplicate poker. It seems more of a novelty style of game. I dont fancy the idea myself but it doesnt mean you wont.

PS, Ive also heard of payment issues but Ive not really taken much notice of the site.

Duplicate poker is 100% legal in the States (most US states) - they can accept most credit cards - and it's set up as a skill game. You compete against other tables.

If you want to participate in 100% legal games - this is it. They've been accredited here for about a year.

It's a nitch kinda game and it's a new concept, so they might be a little slower than a normal poker room in building a large player base, even though it's 'legal' in most of the States.

I did notice the last time I played that they have changed things a little and made it easer to understand the scoring.

This is a big step IMO cuz before it was really complicated to figure out what was going on. I do believe that because the scoring was so complicated it may have put a lot of people off at first.

World Championship???

NEW YORK (PRESS RELEASE) DuplicatePoker.com announced today the launch of the first-ever Duplicate Poker World Championship. The inaugural competition aims to determine the world's best poker player by using the Duplicate Poker format, which dramatically reduces luck and emphasizes skill. Players can qualify now to earn their chance to play in the world championship.

Duplicate Poker's innovative twist on poker limits the luck of the draw by dealing to each table in the tournament from the same deck. Players in each seat are ranked against players at other tables who were dealt the exact same cards. Since Duplicate Poker is viewed as a skill game, it's legal in most jurisdictions within the United States.

The Duplicate Poker World Championship combines online and live poker. Initial qualifying rounds are now running online at DuplicatePoker.com. Qualifications began on February 4 and continue for 30 consecutive weeks through September 14th, when the first round of regional online tournaments will take place. The regional round is divided into six distinct geographical regions totaling 180 players. This will be followed by a round of quarterfinals, also to be played online at DuplicatePoker.com.

Quarterfinal winners will be placed on a regional team of seven players. These finalists will win complete travel packages (hotel accommodations, airfare and meals) at a live venue where the semi-final and championship rounds will be played. The championship round will be scored both individually and as a team. An announcement of the exact location and dates of play will be made soon.

Entry into the Duplicate Poker World Championship costs nothing; players just need to make the top of the weekly DuplicatePoker Tournament Leader Board during one of the qualifying weeks. This means a new player who makes a very small deposit and plays for as short as a week could conceivably become the first Duplicate Poker World Champion."

It's not really poker, so I don't like it. You aren't working on pot odds and maximising your wins per hand.

It's more... keeping up with the Joneses .. a game I've never played.

Tried it, uninstalled it.

I still dont quite get the game myself and i too installed and uninstalled as a result. There were no players to even try to play at the time i logged on.

I can't understand how they're going to hold a "world championship" when clearly they don't have a big customer base and still have to use bots...

They used to have Phil Hellmuth's saying on their main page but have since taken it down....I can imagine that he had a hand in that...
