Deuces Wild Strategy

I have been using the chart from Wizard of Odds.

I am very new to the game and am not sure what to do right now

Qs 2c 10s kc 9s

Should I dump the kc and go for straight flush or keep the straight?

4 to a straight flush with 3 consecutive singletons, 5-7 or higher

Does this mean the 3 non wild need to be like 9s 10s js instead of qs 10s 9s?

What is the pay table? You should be aware that you should only be using the Wizard's strategy for full pay DW.

It is the same as the wizard chart except 4 deuces pays 250

straight pays 2
straight flush pays 9

edit meant 9 for straight flush

Keep the straight... but I just found out that there is a big difference in strategy according to pay table. I purchased Winpoker, which is recommended on the Wizard of Odds site. You can tweak it for any pay table and it will always give you the best play.

Phoenician(sp) pay table for deuces wild requires you keep 2 pairs. Also 4 to a flush would beat one pair. Both examples vary from the simple strategy that you are using above.

Thanks chuckn. Downloaded the program looks interesting but only lets J or better unregistered! Might buy it if I hit a Royal soon ;) I will buy it.

You can also use expert mode at a Viper casino to analyze any hand. You can use 4-Play and 10-play DW, which also pay 2 for a flush, 9 for a SF. With this pay table, you are slightly better off keeping the straight. On the other hand, the 1-play DW pays 13 for a SF, and you are better off trying for a SF.

I'd add that the expected return is 99.37% on multi-hand at Microgaming Viper casinos and only 96.76% on single hand! Single hand at Cryptologic casinos pays 97.97% i believe. RTG vary the payouts from casino to casino so be careful. MG Viper multi-hand is the best i've found (plus it can auto-hold to the best strategy as GM points out!)

I'd go for the str8 flush as well, since you're only doubling your bet for the str8 if you keep the cards. You've got a good chance of at least getting your money back with 3ok, getting another str8, or a flush, or str8 flush by keeping the wild + suited cards.

Do invest the 20 bucks in Winpoker, its more than worth the price. I've used it for years and still refer to it on occassion when I have a hand such as this. I may check the difference between payout for str8 flush vs wild royal on this one and if its close enough, go 4 the dirty royal. Winpoker will give you the raw numbers to analyze this pretty easily. (that was just an hypothetical scenario though, I'd still go for the str8 flush in this situation)
