Does anyone drink alot of booze when they are playing?

I thought this might make an interesting topic since nobody has to worry about getting into their cars and driving home from the casino after a night at the online casinos. As for me, my beverage of choice is hands down.... COFFEE! It helps me to stay alert and therefore I can keep my mind in a positive state. I find that when I'm tired and/or drinking alcohol, I get careless with the bet size and also stay on a machine much longer than I would have if I were fresh. This almost always has a negative result for my bankroll except one time I can remember that I was way up one night and wanted to keep playing because my luck had been so good that day at 32red. I was playing Gopher Gold @ $5.00/spin and was extremely tired. My ex-wife called while I was playing and I turned the speakers off and I layed my head down on the desk as I semi-listened to her rants and raves while I watched the screen and hoped she'd get done bitching and end the call. I just kept pressing the spin button while pretending to be interested in her conversation and all of a sudden I see the 5-dynamites line up and start flashing together. I had no idea what the win amount was so I raised my head off the desk and looked to see that I had just hit $5,000.00. Do you think I told her? Not a chance in hell! Suddenly I became wide awake again and headed for the cash-in button asap. That was the icing on the cake for my best outing ever (so far) at the online casinos. Cashed out around 14K on the slots that day. I'd like to see another one of those days soon. Getting back to the subject at hand.............. do many of you get drunk while playing? If so, how does that affect your play?

I gave up alcohol at least nine years ago. If you went sober to a casino (and stayed that way) you would see that getting the players drunk is just one of the many ways casinos "abuse" their customers. I think staying sharp while I gamble is smarter than getting sloshed. Just IMHO.

Oh man, can I hear that noise, lol.

As to the booze, for the most part, my choice of beverage is also coffee. But there are times (eg. on a Friday night when my little one is gone for her weekend visit), that I do like to have a few drinks while playing. As a rule, it doesn't mix very well. If I do manage to win, I never know when to quit. And if I lose, I just wanna play more, lol. Funny thing though, last August when I had my two big wins, I was drinking both times. Not sure if I would have had the courage to keep spinning if I weren't drinking. And when I hit 7 grand I knew enough to quit. But I wanted the money for a specific reason, so it made it alot easier. Same thing with the second win, quit at $3,500. So drinking or not, really probably doesn't matter. It's not like I get so sloshed I don't know what I'm doing, lol. And there's been times when stone cold sober that I've blown good amounts of money that should have been cashed out. Go figure....

I have to confess to many a drunken night of poker. I play more aggressive when ive had a few so tend to do better funny enough:thumbsup:

i like nothing more than a nice cup of tea when im playing the casino - if its late in the day, i may crack open a bottle of chianti :) :) :)

if im playing poker, i dont like to drink as i end up playing foolishly (im usually a very tight player and when i drink, i become very loose)

im also partial to a spliff or two, (i dont think your local casino would let you do that at their tables!!!! :D) especially when playing poker....

I keep'em separate. No use zapping your brain with two addictive substances at once, one or the other is enough for those kicks...

Plus, mixing alcohol and gambling could turn out to be an disastrous cocktail...one of the first effects of alcohol is loss of impulse control...not good for a gambler.

Cheers,
SM

Ha. Great post!

Online Casinos, I never drink... I just don't like to drink at home, though.

Brick and Mortar.... Another story. I have gotten quite loaded when in Vegas (and locally) and it always leads to poor decision making. Things like going to the ATM for more $$$ when I had a previous set limit. :)

Online I think I would get into the same trouble only it's easier.

hahahahhahaha
i am the only one who drinks on a consantant basis, i drink no matter what i am playing its a habit, a bad one at that.

plus i dont get plastered just like having some in the system:p

Cappuccino for me

When I go to Foxwoods or the Mohegan Sun Casino all I drink is Cappuccino after Cappuccino. Sometimes I do get on a beer kick Grouch or Rolling Rock

When I was in Vegas I usually got up, headed to the blackjack table, and had 3 beers before breakfast. There is no better way to start the day. :)

Just a Turn not a derail

If you call an online casino and tell them you are very , drunk, should they allow you to continue to play, or make a deposit?

I believe that almost all online casinos will shut you off if you state that you need to be stopped. Depends on how you word it. If you state that you're out of control, then you'll prolly be locked out for good in most places.

Great thread! Yes I drink ( only beer) when I play and smoke way too much. Anyone ever set a rule like can't crack a fresh beer unil the next bonus round?

Have fun
