I sat down at a BJ table at an Indian casino once. I bought $200 worth of chips, all green. I start betting 25-50 per hand and notice I am not losing any hands. I ran the shoe and got my balance up to $2400. Cards turned ugly and I kept raising my bet while losing and lost it all. This whole process took under 45 minutes.

You are not alone.

DO NOT FORGET

EXCITEMENT has its price and the adrenalin in your blood circle costs much more than 32$...

A few weeks ago I deposited either $20 or $25 into Red Flush. Somehow I hit something and then something else and played and played and got my balance up to about $900. I played it down to $750 and cashed out. They have a pending period. I went back and took $50 to play with....lost it. Took $100, lost that...another $100.....and so on until there was no WD left.

The problem is that I think "oh I'm only out $25 if I lose it all back" but really, if I cashed that $750 out and then played it back, I'm really out $750 right? Just because it's in my casino account and not my bank, doesn't make it NOT my money. I'm trying to teach myself that lesson lately - well especially since that Red Flush incident...I'm still licking my wounds a bit about that.

A very good point you make there. What people have to stop and think about is that $750 would be another 30 deposits of $25 - each with a small chance of getting to $750 (or something similar) again!
Or in my case, $750 would be worth at least $1,500 because I always play with bonuses.

No-one is saying it's easy, but if you can find the will power to hit that cash-out button at the right time you can have a much longer & more enjoyable time in online casinos. ;)

No, you lost $200 - your max balance of $270 - $70 you won at poker (unless there was a buy in for poker, then add that to the $200). IMO, any cashable balance is my (or your) money. Otherwise, why feel anything at all about your 0 balance? If I kicked myself everytime I felt like you did my tongue would be wearing my a-hole for a ring!

Boy, I can relate...Won a random jackpot about 2 months ago at Aladdins Gold. A pretty sizeable one. Well it took forever to get my paperwork ok'd so I just kept playing, I gave them back well over 3,000.00 ..I finally did cash out 2,000.00...But, when you hit something big, you just think, well I might do it again..Of course I know better..Hopefully I have learned my lesson..:D

Been there, done that. Justified it by telling myself I got my money's worth of entertainment.

What gets me is when I get nothing - when I can't even say I got hours of entertainment but the money disappears in minutes and there is no justification at all for having spent it in the first place.

Sometimes we are just plain old stuck wagering until that fateful point

I can completely relate as I think we have all been there at some point in time.
For that, I can appreciate playthrough because then I can blame the PT for big wagers and stop once PT is done :)

Absolutely agree KK. This mentality is perfectly aligned with playing only as playthrough remains. Additionally, with the 750$ example, say you have a trusty site with regular 100% match.

You can cash out 375 and redeposit with the other half to still have the same balance! This works well if you are trying to parlay a win without the guilty of giving it all back

- my two cents
