I think you've missed a step there (and my phrasing of "EU payment system" was very intentional), it works because of political things - it's an initiative of the European Union (started in 2008), not of the banking sector. It has expended over time to include direct debit functionality (2009) and faster payments (2017), but is still exclusively for euro-denominated transactions.

As you mention, there are members who are not part of the Eurozone and/or European Union - EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), EFTA (plus Switzerland), and then the UK retained membership of SEPA when they left the EU - plus some smaller edge cases.

A lot of the overseas territories are excluded though - so Greenland is one of the biggest outliers, but Curacao is similarly not part of SEPA.

Most banks support it - including those in the UK (although with UK banks you may get hit with conversion fees, which are going to be painful by comparison).

The SEPA fees are incredibly cheap though - e.g. €0.20 - which is much more appealing than debit and credit cards which are often percentage-based.

From a quick browse of the technical documents - it sounds like there are less consumer rights with SEPA payments as well - the window for recalling payments is much shorter at 10 business days, and there appear to be fewer reasons to allow such a recall.

So cheap fees and less chargebacks... can understand why they love it!

Yeah, i put 'regardless of political things' because when UK people hear anything about Europe, they typically have political things in mind. So essentially, i just meant that SEPA works here just fine, except for the currency conversion fees, as you say.

But when it comes to the EUR currency, SEPA fees are always based on the payment provider. Along with GBP, i have EUR on my Revolut account, and i can send EUR to my bank account in Belgium entirely free. Revolut sends it using SEPA and it comes within minutes. It's similar if i were to send you £10 from my Nationwide account to yours here in the UK, and it would arrive near instantly and would cost nothing.

Who exactly launched SEPA, i don't know. I simply remember this

while checking about their new digital currency that they are about to launch called the Digital Euro. And it say that the banking industry launched it with the help of of national governments, etc. It doesn't matter of course, just saying.

Those who charge different fees for SEPA transfers are usually some kind of commercial firms like payment gateways. These are now everywhere by the way and some look dodgy. Check online for something like casino payment providers, etc. I don't think it would matter to them whether they process SEPA payments for Curacao, Vanuatu, or similar specimens, lol

Yea, I believe it comes from an EU directive (around 2001) where they are not allowed to deduct from the amount transferred - which introduces a lot of transparency and thus if a site it charging say €10 and other sites are charging pennies (or absorbing the minimal cost entirely) then that shows up quite quickly.

Absolutely - charge ridiculous fees for an almost-free transfer, and with minimal chargeback rights... makes it much more attractive to shady outfits than debit and credit cards ever would.

FTR, Del Oro was kicked to the Not Recommended category because of the shills and initial “troubles” that led to the 60-day ban. My understanding is that they’ll soon be moved back to the Neutral Zone, thus I’ve changed the prefix on this thread in anticipation of that. Hopefully all will be well now and the drama will be left to fade from our memories.

Would avoid this lot. Ridiculous withdrawal fees and have blocked my account from withdrawing. Are happy to accept deposits though! They also limit withdrawals to £830 a day in hope you do the balance in.

I know we've covered the $1000 "reserves the right" (i.e. will do) clause on withdrawals - I'm curious where this 2% is documented because despite multiple members discussing it (with evidence), I can't find anything in the terms or elsewhere on the site.

The "payment methods" section clearly says 0% in both directions (and also mentions "5000" payment limits, somewhat misleading on withdrawals when they are going to cap you at $1000 anyway), and I couldn't see any mention in the T&Cs.

So is this 2% a stealth withdrawal charge? That would be even worse...

Yes, it looks that way. 2% on all withdrawals.
They've taken £50.98 from my cumulative withdrawals because of this.

Same for me with the Withdrawals, I was told by the Chat that after the first 3 withdraws the withdaw limit daily would be £10K, never seen that once, and its a straight 2% fee on all withdraws, my fees totalled over £80.

Hey StupidButLucky,

It’s nice to meet you!

I am happy to hear that you experienced some of our high rtp while playing with us :)

I am also sad to hear that you arent a fan of Del Oro anymore.

We take Resposible gaming very seriously, and want the best for every person betting in the Del Oro family. That is why we recently added a self exclusion tool, for players to be able to exclude themselves for however long they want.

I will send your feedback to our team, and if there is anything else I can do to change your mind about us, im always here :)

Have a wonderful Day,
John
Three deposits to your casino including a welcome bonus. Zero RTP. And daily lies, lies, lies, about some non-existent winnings. More attempts to contact directly via email, after I closed my account at this casino.

Exactly that. It's all false promises in the hope you do the balance. No reputable casino would limit their members to £830 a day withdrawal.

Their standard phrase is, 'play more and we will increase your limits.' Can't see any safer gambling issues at all.. lol
I must point out that playing at UKGC licensed sites means you cannot have caveats concering daily withdrawal limits.

Thank you. I was aware of this, but yet some operators, such as jumpman gaming, still have withdrawal limits, even though they are UKGC licensed.
