It was a requirement for financial help from our government. But will take ages before all is in place. The 3rd payment still has to be done I believe, so there is some leverage.

Given the way things are in the UK, it would be nice if there was another reputable licence that would accept UK players. I rather suspect that may be the case in the coming years!

If they were reputable they would not accept UK players without a UK licence.

And if they got a UK licence they would then be tied to same conditions as other UK casinos so would be no difference.

Realistically the only thing stopping MGA casinos accepting UK players is a gentleman's agreement. Any some point profit will win out!

FWIW I'm seeing the early signs of this from the PAB side of things. Recently, and for the first time AFAIK, there are reports that Curaçao licencing is (somehow) accepting and responding to player complaints. Or so a few Curaçao casinos have claimed.

Caution - - perhaps EXTREME caution - - is still very much advised. For example a group called Curaçao E-Gaming (CEG) is acting as if they are an official body and are receiving player complaints. The trouble is that AFAICT they are actually just selling Curaçao sub-licenses and white-label style services; the complaints thing may just be a side-show to add the appearance of legitimacy, an added perk for their customers.

I say this because I had a PAB a while back where the player said CEG had previously given such-and-such a ruling on their case against CasinoX. I contacted CEG and asked if that was true. "Oh yes" they said. "And are you in a position to receive player complaints for other Curaçao casinos? " I asked. "Oh yes" they said. "And are you in any way officially sanctioned to do so?" I asked. Strangely the conversation abruptly ended there.

My point us this: CEG is (almost certainly) a license reseller and until it has been proven that they actually doing something for players as opposed to just providing a good front for their sub-licensees everyone should view this with considerable skepticism. The fact that CEG is happy to pretend to be an official body regarding complaints when that is clearly NOT the case does not bode well.

To be fair it needs to be said that CEG could be a good thing if they follow the model that Kahnawake implemented years ago. That is, a licensing body with a centralized administration, the muscle to police their licensees, and a real commitment to fair play from their casinos and fair treatment of their players. Given the dismal history of most Curaçao casinos and the inherently decentralized licensing structure of the Curaçao Master Licenses that may be a very, VERY big ask.

IMO, and until further notice, players can only count on what they've only ever been able to count on from a Curaçao casino: their own caution to find a respectable place with a good reputation and good people behind it. Caveat emptor has always been and remains the best advice for any player thinking of giving their money to a Curaçao casino.
