Yeah the UKGC say:

  • Keep under review duration of play for customers which can be an indicator of harm and keep this under review to identify changes which warrant intervention.

What it really means is since we banned bonus buys people are having to play longer to get the bonuses, LOL

This is what I can't get my head around...surely they must know it sometimes takes 500-1000 spins to get a bonus on some slots (mostly megaways). So they take bonus buys away and then want to penalise you when it takes a couple of hours to land a bonus??

Also what if you're having a good session and your bankroll is lasting? It's not a sign of harm when your £50 deposit has lasted you for 4 hours. Repeat deposits within that 4 hours would be more of a sign of alarm.

All I can say is that the UKGC seem far removed from the realities of slotting in general.

See I disagree here. You could blow a grand doing bonus buys in minutes.

Yet the same grand would and probably would last you hours and hours if it was normal scatter based bonus, in the meantime you have the potential for base hits and normal bonus rounds to happen.

It was a good thing banning the bonus buys IMO as they where just the equivalent of fobty so called £50 super spins (or whatever they where called)

Never been much of a fobty user, but they attempted to basically mimick the banned fobty super buys and implement it online.

I’m all for the banning of the above.

A slot is a slot, not a scratch card.

My point is if you're going to ban bonus buys (which is all good and well) at least have some understanding that people will be playing longer. Surely it's a good thing if your bankroll is lasting a long time

As I have asked before, how does one go about getting a job in the UKGC? Would love to apply and provide the role with some insight

But will they? I don’t think so.

As said the play time will be massively longer so in the meantime much more chance of a cashout or a decent win rather than say x5 bonus buys at £200 a pop..

The UKGC are useless, but a lot of what they are doing will help those who can’t control themselves, there’s a lot out there going on the stats and not to being the heathens into this (streamers) it’s gotten loads worse since they started there parasitic PR drive during lockdowns..

I remember sitting for 3 hours once, waiting for a Bonanza bonus. Balance barely moved in that time and I was doing other things on the other monitor whilst waiting for it to land. In the eyes of the UKGC this is a sin when purely looking at session length. Dig a bit deeper, however, and it was perfectly ok gameplay.

3 hours is better than 3 minutes if it’s a grand your playing with.

We're agreeing. I'm not saying bonus buys are a good thing...I'm saying you can't assume a player has an issue just because of their length of session.

It is. But what I'm saying is, the UKGC are seeing long sessions as a cause for concern when obviously a lot of the time this just isn't true.
They are basically managers with no gambling nor industry experience as crazy as this sounds.

I asked max here if cm had dealings with them and they had a bit I believe a while back but absolutely no input now.

I find it insane the ukgc won’t consult with neither a place like here or the actual players to be frank.

The only way the UKGC are helping those that cant control themselves is making all the UK facing ones disappear, that is until those players realize they can play non regulated ones, yeah great help??

As others have said they are quite clueless and there WILL be a point at which they proceed to cause more gambling related harm than they originally set out to protect against, and that time is possibly much closer than they think.

There is tons of ways to protect players yet they are not even thought of eg

1. RTP shown in load screen ( casinos wont be able to hide lower RTP versions )
2. All slots should load on max lines min stake.
3. Max bet should not be near start/spin, or do without it all together.
4. Max bet should not spin reels until warning promt is accepted or as above.
5. Autoplay loss limit optional ( if im playing 50 spins @20p im already aware im committing £10 ) why do i need to set it? set it to £10 as default.
6. Autoplay over 100 to 500 max allowed when loss limit is set by player.
7. Any SOW, RG, ML concerns to be checked at deposit not withdrawal.
8. Claims of Win up to 10000x etc should also have the true odds of this win displayed in the help/info file. ( If providers want to dangle those carrots they need to come clean on the true chance of that win )
9. I would also like to see at minimum each slot have to display its chance of say a 100x ( this provides a player enough to make a choice without a provider giving too much math away )
10. Slot profiles to be static to all stakes.

Just my 10p's worth if I worked for the UKGC!!

This pushing U.K. players to unregulated casinos is a nonsense.

Once the player gets ripped off they ain’t coming back, if they do then more fool them.

Im your biggest fan Playford, but my last 6 years earnings totaling £330,000 have literally 95% come from me accessing betting at Pinnacle via an offshore agent.

I keep £20 -40k there max, and if it all goes tits up I can handle the hit.

Decent unregulated casinos are needed with this pathetic UK nanny state as I enjoy a good gamble too without being asked for BS SOW shit lol.

Sorry mate, but to say its nonsense is a bit naive, I was referring to addicts and they will try and play anywhere and are less likely to even attempt a cashout as they addicts! so I stand by my comment that they are on the verge of doing more harm than good.

You cant say one minute that its all to protect players and addicts, then say its there own fault and more fool them, if they get ripped off at non UK casinos, which would come back to if you feel its there own fault why do we need all these new rules that are primarily to protect the minority that cant control there own actions in the first place, if they continue to lose its there own fault right?

Why should I not be able to play how I want eg the odd bonus buy because some people lose control? Where does it end is the real question.
