Hi colinsunderland,

Thank you for the information. We are investigating this and I have sent this to our affiliate team.

Br,

Daniel

I also sent the exact email address of a spammer and dodgy affiliate to dan ages ago via pm. The contact details to him also, yet he never had the decency to reply.

Things like that can happen. I think Dan is getting a lot of pm's every single day...and nights.
If reading them on the phone it can be possible to forget to answer later. I do believe he is a real human sometimes :)

Hi Playford7,

I am sorry for that. We got a few reports the same day about that affiliate, and I seem to have missed replying thank you for that to you in PM. I will follow up to see what happened with that affiliate.

Or you could be cynical and say while they are getting sign ups from the spammer, it isn't in their interests to close him down. Certainly the last one, the link wasn't 404'd over a week after the affiliate had been 'dealt' with

Hi colinsunderland,

I can confirm that is not the case. We have already closed down one affiliate from reports from you guys here at Casinomeister. We don't tolerate spam but our affiliate team do always need to do an investigation.

I hope you will have a great evening.

In which case, why is the link I reported in this post

https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/videoslots-newly-accredited.61870/

on the 22nd feb still directing to you? It should be 404'd by yourselves, the only reason I can see you wouldn't would be so you would still get the sign ups.

Maybe the affiliate has been closed down, but you are still benefiting from the spam if anyone signs up from the link.

So I got an email from the person who owns the domain that was used to spam me the past few days saying his domain has been hacked and he has nothing to do with the spam.

Taking that into account, presumably you will immediately terminate the affiliate account in question & 404 the links, I have forwarded the email to back this up to support again.

Would someone like to tell me what's going on here?

Colin I'm sorry but I have no idea who but I can assure you I am not spamming you. It looks like Jessica Samson (if that is a real name) has using my domain to spam from and I'll put an end to it for sure. You have my apologies nonetheless.

I'm dealing with VideoSlots directly, as I have the offender's affiliate link.

I will also lodge a formal complaint with the relevant authorities.

Hi Colin,

Thank you for the information. I know our affiliate team are looking into this and I will come back to you when I got more information.

Update on "spam" incident for #colinsunderland...

Hi Colin,

I wanted to give you a quick update on the issue you raised with me yesterday.

After receiving your email I spoke to a manager at VideoSlots to get to the bottom of it. In their defense they took my angst pretty seriously and got on the case immediately.

This is the outcome of their investigation:

  1. The Aff link in the mailer lead them to the offending affiliate.
  2. They contacted the affiliate about this situation, who provided proof that your record exists in one of his opt in lists (I have been provided with proof of this).
  3. Following your complaint the affiliate opted out your record in his database from receiving further communication from him
  4. VideoSlots asked me if I knew the affiliate so I asked for his email address and checked it against my database.
  5. Turns out that affiliate is in one of my opt in lists as a player and therefore has received emails from me in the past.
  6. He copied my Logo and domain name for his VideoSlots mailer, without my knowledge or permission, and emailed you... and many other players.
  7. I contacted the affiliate/player and have taken up the issue with him directly.

The up shot:

To me it looks like VideoSlots have got caught in the crossfire on this and they seem powerless to deal with your complaint against the affiliate, as he has provided proof of your opt in to receive marketing communications.

I on the other hand am super pissed off for being implicated in this through no fault of my own and I am in the process of resolving this directly with the offender. What's surprised me most, and I didn't even know until it was pointed out to me earlier today, that you had pointed fingers at me and posted my private details in this forum for all and sundry to see. I've been in this industry since 2005 and my hard-earned reputation is being damaged by your post. I feel you were a little trigger happy in making your remarks in a public forum whilst investigations were ongoing. So, anything you can do to vindicate me from this situation in this forum would be greatly appreciated.

I do genuinely apologize to you for receiving an email with my brand on it, but the long and short of it is that I did not spam you. I have never been an affiliate for VideoSlots... ever!

Please feel free to engage in a grown up conversation about this so that we can clear the air if needed.

Cheers

Prash

  1. I haven't, and I guarantee I did not opt in to any spam mailing from him, but am awaiting to hear from them, as for some reason they seem to have spoken to you about it and not me, perhaps dan can explain this? Just because I exist on someones spam list does not mean I opted in, presumably the record you were supplied with contains my IP from the opt in? I would be very interested to see that.

Following your complaint the affiliate opted out your record in his database from receiving further communication from him
VideoSlots asked me if I knew the affiliate so I asked for his email address and checked it against my database.

Again, not to me they haven't, but would love to see it. I'm not sure how they are powerless to take action against a spamming affiliate, who steals other people's content to use in a spam marketing campaign.

I on the other hand am super pissed off for being implicated in this through no fault of my own and I am in the process of resolving this directly with the offender. Details available on a public whois is not private information I'm afraid. If you have nothing to do with this spam then I apologise but your logo was used and your details were taken from the public register, no privacy breach has occurred.

I will wait for Videoslots to send me the proof of my opt in then will email you privately, Dan could you explain why I haven't had copies of this information that you have sent to a third party yet not to me?

Hi Colinsunderland,

We have not given out any information to a third party provider, but I guess they got your e-mail since you contacted Patel yourself and then an investigation have been made out of that from Patel's side since it's important for everyone that the e-mail list is correct. We do not work directly with Patel as Patel is not one of our affiliates, but we work with one of Patel's Partners.

I have just recently received an e-mail to confirm that you opted in and I will e-mail that to you straight after this post.

I just want to clarify that we do never give out information to a third party provider without having a consent.

Patel said he spoke to you (Videoslots not you personally), is that true or not?
Who provided the 'proof' you, or the spammer, to Patel?

Hi colinsunderland,

The proof comes from Patel´s business partner, and it was also the business partner that sent it to us.

I hope this can get solved and I do also hope that you won't get more unwanted affiliate e-mails.

Hi Colin,

I wanted to give you a quick update on the issue you raised with me yesterday.

So your business partner rather than some random customer on your mailing list was the offending party? Is that correct as thats how it sounds.

Is your business partner a casino as the screenshots i have been sent are from a casino back end, and I promise you I have not given those details to any affilaite site, nor have I ever seen an affiliate site asking for DOB, address and other personal information. It is VERY obvious from the screenshots they are screen shots from a casino backend, not just from the personal details required either, and NOT an affiliates mailing list. Who is the casino that passed my details to your business partner?

Reply for Colin

Hey Colin

So this gets more messy unnecessarily...

I just asked VideoSlots why on earth they think the spammer is a "Business Partner" of mine, because it couldn't be further from the truth. They put it down to a "miscommunication" internally between the person I am in contact with and Dan. I never claimed the spammer to be a business partner of mine... neither to you nor to VideoSlots. He is not. My business partner is sat thousands of miles away in Washington DC and wouldn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to affiliate marketing... of any kind!

A screen shot of your opt in (with sensitive data scrubbed out) got shared with me from the culprit, presumably because I kicked up an almighty stink and leveled some threats over being wrongly implicated in this mess. I honestly didn't look at it closely, because frankly it has nothing to do with me. My concern is strictly with having my brand and domain name linked to all this.

I didn't spam you... whoever did is not my business partner... my brand got used without my permission... and I am just as much a victim here as you are.

Anyway, I've said my piece and I can't spend any more time worrying about this situation. I hope this is now resolved satisfactorily.

Cheers

Prash
