CIRRUS: A casino initiative and an unexpected resolution

i agree with most u say Dom, but you can make money playing online and off, i been doing it for a while.

I know you do! :D

And so do a number of others. But the majority barely knows to play basic strategy. Most think that BJ means you hit until 17, then you stand. Always. Things like splitting and insurance and doubling are "gut " decisions.

I try hard to teach people how to play better. They should get the most for their money. But even with basic strategy, you will lose.

Now you have your own strategy and you have the experience of which casinos you do well with. And, I keep thinking you are also a bit lucky. :D

(yes, I know, there is no such thing :p )

If everyone played like you, there would not even be any casinos to play at. So obviously, people don't.

They also do not read wagering requirements or keep track of their play.

The no-pay situations you see on message boards are the tip of the iceberg.
The whole thing is exacerbated with the bonus structure - many many innocent players do not get paid when they win because they do not understand wagering requirements. Never saw them. Went to play their favorite game and won. Didn't get paid.

THAT is really really lousy and gives the entire industry a bad name.

That is partly the casinos' own fault because they put the FREE MONEY
$200 free bonus, 200% match .... blah blah ..... on their websites front
and center, but put the wager requirements in small prints and often
in another page. They know damn well that a lot of people will miss
the WR part.

It makes no sense at all from a business point of view - player aquisition costs are high, and they get higher and higher, and the bonuses make sure that no player stays really loyal to one casino. In some cases the combined acquisition cost a particular player incurred over combined casinos he played at far exceeds the money he spent on entertainment. This contributes to the casinos no-pay attitude - running a casino isn't as profitable as they thought, and it is a lot more complicated than they assumed. And doing it well takes a lot more capital than projected. With player acquisition costs that high, you will always see cheating casinos and unfair treatment.

I always thought giving bonus was the single most stupid thing a casino
could do. God knows who was the idiot that thought of this stupid idea
and acted on it. Now most online casinos are forced to give bonus.

And while I am saying unpopular things: Boards also contribute a lot to the players plight. Yes, boards do offer help and support. But they also put silly notions in new player's heads. Like that you can go out today and bonus hunt and make decent money. Yes, there are some advantage players who have it down to a science. But your average players will not ever reach that point, they will lose all their money trying though.

I was sceptical at first like you until I started doing it. No, you cannot
use it to make a living but for supplementary income or lunch money it
is pretty good. And no, you don't have to be a statistician, a scientist, or
a Ph.D. to do it, the "down to a science" part is hugely exaggerated!

Yes, yes and yes, sw2003.

I used to bonus hunt some 3 years back - it was easy to make a couple hundred a day. But I got so bored playing the same over and over and over again, I stopped playing altogether for some time. Then I started playing for entertainment and to test softwares through.

Yes, you can make lunch money. There are also some people making a living. Those are the ones I say "have it down to a science".
