Resolved Cherry Red locked my account with my money in it, simply because I won't call them.

...I was mostly miffed that a casino that has a high reputation was acting in ways that seemed rather roguelike for a moment. And like others here, I sure am not calling some casino, especially these days when gambling online is shunned in some countries and probably monitored. (hopefully not!)
Now this is just plain silly. Roguelike because they wanted you to contact them by phone? You're doing business with them.

You refuse to call them - yet you have already given them your name, physical address, and banking details. :what:

If you're worried about someone monitoring your telephone, then you have much more to worry about than playing at some online casino.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been in the office to post back sooner regarding this.

We have recently put in place a call out program to new depositors, both as a security check to see that all is above aboard and also to welcome new players to the casino and to make sure everything is OK with them (as far as bonuses go, restricted games, etc). Before anyone asks, we are very careful with the information we provide in the case that the player doesn't answer the phone and another member of the household does - We do not say where we are calling from.

If the number on the account doesn't work or if there is no answer, then the player is contacted via email or player message (pop-up when logged in to the casino) to ask that they contact us so that we can carry out this process. They can either email or live chat with us to let us know a correct and working number so that we can call them back or they can call us toll-free and provide us with a working number, so that we can carry out the same process - Just takes a few seconds ;-)

I apologize for the trouble that the player had, but one must understand that if a player states that they refuse to verify their details with us, it may perhaps raise some concerns with us and had led to the account being deactivated etc.

Thanks,

Louise

To Bryan or Louise...

What if he had a phone phobia? Then what?

I know many people roll their eyes at phobias (I get it everyday of my life) but they ARE real. I'm not saying Slotomatic has a phobia, I'm just saying what if he did? This casino wouldn't let him gamble because of a disorder?

It seems silly to me to have to speak on a phone after giving them all the details already.

In the case of a player having such a condition, we of course can give some leeway and wouldn't 'force' them to speak on the phone with us if that was the case.

I am allowed to make private calls, however I am not sure that it would be appreciated if I used it to call a private call to a casino overseas!
I dont get it thoughm if all your docs are in order and u have sent verification form, why do they need you to call them. What if you are mute ;-)

Actually in principle, I'm with the OP on this one. Its not at all roguish or even PAB'able, but it would irritate me too if I was asked to call and my account was locked in the meantime.

I always give my mobile no. as my contact number and most casinos, quite rightly, will call at some point to verify details. It's good they do this as it shows they are following proper procedures and protecting both themselves and players from potential fraud.
