Casinomeister's Haiti Relief Fund

Oh well, Paypal is raining on our donation parade. They don't want us to do it anymore since I don't have an official letter from Oxfram stating that I am taking in donations under their name.

I understand they are "protecting" their customers, but c'mon - why be so anal?

So we are not accepting Paypal donations at this point. On the bright side, we collected over 20K - which mean after being matched by Calvin Ayre, that's 40k

$40k will buy a lot of water and basic medical supplies. Good going members!!

Bureaucratic Bullshit!

This applies in REGULAR fundraising events, which are planned in advance, but this is an EMERGENCY APPEAL, and there isn't time to go through all the usual procedures for fundraisers, which can take WEEKS.

Haiti was on the news too, it seems that whilst the donations are pouring in, having been converted into the water/food/shelter etc needed, they have stalled in "warehousing", rather than being quickly taken to where they are needed. Somebody needs to get their arse in gear, or face a cruel & slow dissection by the press and politicians once this is over.

EDIT.

Just given that lazy HippoVinylpotamus a kick up the arse, and he has sent you something via Neteller P2P for your Haiti relief fund. You have to accept or decline it, but since you have done this before (I haven't) you know this.

Not sure where else this is being done - so I can't really help. I'm still taking donations by the way via Neteller.

But only until tomorrow (Friday).

You can still donate through PokerStars. URL Not Found / Outdated

Until January 31st.

Probably better than sending to CM via neteller as, Neteller take around 6% (3% for p2p transfer, 3% for exchange rate (not applicable if your account is in euros)).

AFAICT, if you deposit $10/$100/$1000/whatever to pokerstars, there are no charges with that.

There is that, but the Calvin Ayre foundation add 100% onto the amount retained after deductions by Neteller.

Matched donation offers should be looked at first, and then the cheapest way to make unmatched donations.

So do PokerStars

This is what we need to know, there must be other schemes to boost donations, so maybe there should be a "sticky" thread to gather the details together, or maybe even a webpage (the Meister doesn't really have the time this coming week, as many of us know).

As I said before, if all else fails, the UK government will offer the charity a 28% boost under "gift aid" to represent the donation having been made from GROSS income, rather than net (after tax). Donations have to go through a registered charity, who then apply for the 28% where the donor has ticked "gift aid" on the form. I ALWAYS tick this, I don't see why the causes should miss out on 28% that does NOT come from MY pocket, and only requires the effort of ticking a box from me.

Alright! We've collected close to 25K and the donations section is officially closed.

Thanks everyone who participated - this is really great!

Very nice!
Unfortunately I can't make deposit via paypal .
let's pray together for Haiti..

Well, I was at the iGaming Awards the other night, and the check was presented to Oxfam. 65k was the total (GBP), and 50k (USD) was the share from what we generated from Casinomeister. That was awesome. And our drive lasted only four days.

Good going everyone.
