    Hi,

I think Casinomeister should do an own auditor firm to check casinos payout ratios. It feel so wrong that Ecogra does it which is owned by Microgaming?

:what: MGS has never owned eCOGRA. They do a great job as it is. Why make false accusations?

    From Wikipedia

eCOGRA is entirely self-funded from its compliance

They are one of the founders of Ecogra, I assume they are an owner as well then, maybe Im wrong?

"Microgaming provides the software for the world's largest Progressive Jackpot Network, which has paid out over €375 million in total. Its software also created the world's first online slot tournament millionaire and one of the largest online jackpot wins in history, at a staggering €6.37m. As a founding member of eCOGRA and IGC, Microgaming is at the forefront of initiatives that set the highest standards in the gaming industry, notably in the areas of fair gaming, responsible operator conduct and player protection."

I think its very unethical that a founding member of an independent audit firm, audit their own casino payout ratio.

That's ancient history - relatively speaking. They helped initiate the auditing service (along with 888.com), and got it on its feet. This has nothing to do with ownership.

eCOGRA has a history of being an effective and fair auditor and player advocate. They've had nearly a decade to prove their worth.

A couple of years ago there was also a management buy-out at eCOGRA, finally severing all "founder" ties.

I didn't. Max runs it now, and before Max, Bryan used to run it:confused:

    Regards,

    Brian.

"founder" members do not necessarily "own" an entity. If anything, founders tend to take the role of a figurehead, much like the patron of a charitable group, which is usually a minor royal or respected celebrity.

The management buyout at eCogra should have settled concerns that the founder members had too much influence. eCogra has added further services that generate independent income streams, further reducing any relianace on contributions from software suppliers and big operators.

Even if they haven't got there yet, they are headed in the right direction.

The real problem lies with the regulators. eCogra membership, and thus compliance with it's standards, is voluntary. If a casino is regulated in a given jurisdiction, compliance with standards is compulsory, so the real player enemy is jurisdictions that are biased in favour of their paymasters, the casinos whom they license.

    Waste of time

eCOGRA along with any licensing authority bring nothing that adds to player security. As someone highlighted if you have an organisation monitoring someone who is paying them to regulate the chances of the little guy getting any satisfactory outcome is very remote.

In the past 2 weeks I have emailed the licensing authority in Malta 10 times and not had one response, eCOGRA have responded however they say they are not interested and I should contact Malta, when I contact the casino they say I should contact eCOGRA and so the merry go around continues.

These are stamps of approval from people who are just out to make money, they really have no interest in protecting anyone but their income.
