Hi guys

Interested in your opinion. I was recently testing a Playtech casino who shall remain nameless for now. I lost on my first sessions, kept playing and then finally hit a big one on Great Blue and cashed out. That all went OK so I played twice more: lost once, won once...both decent sums as I test as a VIP to see how they treat bigger players.

A few days later I logged in and the bet limits on the 3 slots I had been playing (Great Blue, Avengers and Fantastic 4) along with some other games had changed. Avengers & Fantastic 4 down from £40+ a spin to 60pence (yes, really!) and Great Blue down from (I forget exactly but around £30) to £7.50.

I was told the casino manager had made the decision but it wasn't specified if it was general so I checked with someone else who played there and their bet limits were still the default ones I first experienced. It's clearly a message they don't want me playing there anymore (although why they would do this when I was a) in a winning position, b) I never take a bonus and c) you always lose long term on slots anyway is a bit odd).

I was interested in other people's opinions on a casino that does this. Bearing in mind it's their business and they have every right to refuse custom, how would it make you feel if it were you? Would you regard this as odd for an accredited casino or not bothered?

Myself, I'm caught in two minds: I feel it's sneaky and reveals something about the way the casino management thinks that makes me uncomfortable but then again, they paid out no problem and I can just go and play elsewhere, so it's not a big issue. Thoughts?

Cheers,

Simmo!

That is seriously odd o.O.. only reason I can think of, is if you won a huge amount and they want to protect you from loosing it back :D.

I'd say stuff it, and move on. To me, it seems like a pointed insult, assuming it's just your acct and not across the board. Sure, it's their right, as it is yours to say, well, screw ya, someone else can have my occasional big losses.

I'd be pissed because it is like being backed off in blackjack even though I do not count cards. In a real land (and regulated) casino, they do not do this. Of course, the dollar machine MUST off dollar bets but with online casinos, they can change the bet amounts. But for an accredited casino to do this means they should not be in this business in the first place.

To me they are clearly showing that they won't be able to pay you if you win too much. They are not prepared to risk it yet.

You didn't say if it was new or not but for any casino to be so careful that they lower the bet I wouldn't trust them for a minute.
I don't play Playtech but I would really like to know which casino it is....but I know you won't tell. Can you whisper? ;)

Utterly bizare IMO, each spin a player makes is hugely tilted in the casinos favor, so the higher you spin the more they make, them reducing your max spin makes me think they don't have enough in the bank to take big hits, I'd be looking for somewhere else to play

Hadn't occurred to me this but it's a good point. Minimising exposure to risk.

I have told Bryan - this thread adds opinions. i will chat to him at some point and get his too, probably involve the rep for their side of the story and then decide.

I'd like to know what the rep has to say about this. Never seen this happening before (granted, doesn't mean that much:) - very weird behaviour to exclude single players from betting high on slots.

Rival casinos did that a lot before. Don't know if they had changed and I have never played that high so it doesn't bother me.
I do have experienced the opposite. a Club World casino that raised my lowest bet size to prevent me from playing there. Just as bad in my eyes

I hope its not Ladbrokes, I am getting niggling feelings about them lately, but I think thats just because I had a bad experience with a CS rep

what is more alarming is they can control it at the individual player level.

makes me wonder, can they control which rtp they're serving up to the individual player as well?

So do the playtech casinos have the max-bet rule for bonuses, if casinos can limit the bet size, then they can do it for those that take bonuses so they don't get trapped by the max-bet rule.

maybe there is something more to me just being paranoid about online casinos targeting players.

At those stake levels you become a risk if not only to the casino but to yourself, even a multi millionaire could be cleaned out at those off world Stella rates, you asked I replied.

Its up to the individual what bet size they make, if it was just up to the casino the bet size would be static. I dont understand why ant casino would do this. What were your winnings Simmo were they thousands or tens of thousands, (sorry if you do not want to disclose just tell me to p off :D ).

Anyway regardless of what your winnings were I still dont understand the logic of it

Silly of them. You were already a returning customer and reducing bets to 0.6€ is a bit of an insult for a high roller. Like others said if they don't want you to play some portion of that money back, then it's them that have a problem not you.

Many bookies can and will limit successful punters - even when there's no bonus involved (like in your case). So it's not really all that uncommon. Pointless I agree and unwise from casinos perspective - each €40 bet will make 200 times more money than a 0.2€ but it's their choice.

If they did that to minimize the risk for themselves then I wonder why they left Great Blue at 7.50 per spin, as thats definately the game with the highest potential.
Simmo, how much does a full screen of wilds pay in free spins with 10xMP?
Dont have a Playtech installed atm.

But Fantastic Four at 0.60?
Thats just plain silly..

Just take your business elswhere I'd say.

I never questioned the stake (well I did) I did question the risk? these have a proportion both to the casino and the individual and this cannot be denied.

If anyone here knows what they are doing I believe it's Simmo, but I'm sure he's thankful for your warning.

What is the risk to the casino though, if they cant pay the wins then they should not be in the business I could deposit a fiver tomorrow and hit a jackpot on a progressive and that couls be on a minimum stake, so I dont understand the logic of it, unless they are having money problems

If a casino reduces the stake they might have an insight, they might have an inclination of responsibility?

You mentioned that no bonuses were involved, so I do find it odd indeed. To lower max bets to a measly 60 p is indeed insulting.

Fantastic 4 is a progressive slot, so large bets greatly enhance your chance of winning the progressive, something paid in full by Playtech, and great exposure for any casino.

Most casinos court whales, not send them packing.

If a casino wishes to limit their loss exposure, why limit it to specific accounts? I could have a lucky run and bet big even though I'm no whale. In fact I do from time to time.

Especially unwise to treat a player who is also an affiliate that way IMO.

I'm curious if limits are the same in download and flash?

This goes back to the question, do casinos watch players and monitor the play while changing the bet sizes? This is not the first time this has come up. There are a few threads, but not many of a player complaining of a casino doing this.

I found this same reduction (limit) at one of the casino I play consistanly at , also , after hitting big and withdrawing 3 times. Now the max bet I can make is $2 on many of the slots I played and won on.

It is wrong on all levels because they have taken their fair share and now, you get penalized for winning a few of those bucks back. Makes no sense does it? As so many here keep saying, why does a casino need to do any of this hokie pokie stuff since they already have an edge... but here it is again..the casinos doing just that...
.

Thousands (I ended up about 7k up). For the record, I don't often max bet - I have my limits :D But as I said, when I test, I test playing with big bets (£10+) as I want to test a casino properly, not just with a cursory in-and-out. And this thread proves why. I find the bigger you can afford to play, the more you learn about how they run their business. I know how to manage my budgets and although I am playing to get a big win to test the cash-out process and how they treat bigger bettors, it's important to remember I don't aim to finish "up" (sometimes I do win, but mostly I don't, obviously). Going in with that attitude means it doesn't get emotional, which is where big losses tend to come in.

If they did that to minimize the risk for themselves then I wonder why they left Great Blue at 7.50 per spin, as thats definately the game with the highest potential.

3,750,000 x linebet. But the odds of hitting it are 1 in 430,208,500,811 spins (that's 1 in 430 BILLION spins!!). It does expose a casino to risk but you should remember that a casino will insure itself against something like that happening anyway, so it shouldn't matter.
