Hi,

I got an email about the People's Postcode Lottery new Postcode Scratch.
Which is basically an online casino. I got £5 free bet for signing up without
depositing any money, so played a few games. I got £16 and decided to stop
but I could not cash out without depositing any money, which I thought was fair.
I deposited £10 which also gave me an £11 bonus. This put my balance up to £37!

I played another few games and decided to cash out, but the website says I
have to wager 30x my bonuses before I could cash out. It states I have to
play £500 more to cash out anything.

I spoke to customer services via a live chat, who told me I have to wager 30x
the bonus but not the deposit and for me to read to terms and conditions. She
then started ignoring me, poor customer service.

I understand I have to play 30x the bonuses to withdraw them which is ridiculous
to risk but I just want my original £10 back and I am not willing to risk £500
to do it.

Can they do this?

How can I get my £10 back? They can keep the bonus money, I still have it.

Thanks for your help guys!

Funnily enough this scenario was the cause of my only PAB to date - only I READ THE T&C's FIRST and the terms didn't mention it. Your terms did. Learn from this - read them first!

Well the T&C's states the bonuses have to be wagered which is fine. It does not state my own deposits have to be. But it seems my deposits AND bonuses come under the same rules? Is this normal?

Read the terms - you'll find that it's D+B usually. The thing is, you've come under the 'double stacking' rule - you make the qualifying deposit, and automatically get lumped with a deposit bonus on top of the one you already had. Any accredited site will remove this as long as you request this BEFORE you play it. I got conned by this because the terms had omissions in my case and secondly by the rogue behaviour of them allegedly not being able to remove it at my request. Bingo sites have quite trappy rules, even the good ones.

I have read the T&C's. They are a bit vague when from differentiating between rules of bonuses and deposits. I have spoken to the live online chat to customer services who would not answer the question do I have to wager the deposit 30x to withdraw it?!?!

I take it all I can do now is risk playing the money and bonuses 30 times and then cashing out?

Never signing up 'bonus' deal websites like this again!

Well.. What you have said, sounds like about every other online casino you can find. In very few places you would be able to withdraw anything, if you have taken a bonus to your account (and have started playing). I ques, that is not how it used to be in the "good old days".
But since online gaming industry expanded like an explosion in the last 5-10 years, with that explosion casinos got more and more good customers, but a long with the good ones game along a few rotten ones , who took the bonuses only to take advantage of the casino - not for entertainment. Trying to cover their ass(and cut the financial losses), casinos had to wrote more and more complicated t&c (and worse terms from customers side) and more and more higher wager requirements for the bonuses game along with those.
It might be hard to understand and you may feel cheated - so did I the first time I took a deposit bonus :D...

If you take a deposit bonus, you will be unable to withdraw until you meet the wr.

There is a possibility you are required to wager that 5€ welcome chip 60x and that deposit bonus 30x. So that would be 600€ all in all.

I wish you nothing but good luck with the wagering and hopefully you will withdraw plenty more then you would have before.
and.. READ THE T&C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice!

I gave up on the whole thing but I have just been thinking recently... Wagering; does that mean:

I can put a single bet 30:1 and that means I have wagered 30x the bonus & deposit

OR

Do I have to wager £1 30 times to have wagered 30x the bonus & deposit??

Or am I completely wrong?

If it is deposit plus bonus and you deposited 10 and lets say the bonus was 100%, then you would have $20 to play with and the play through is 30X so you would have to wager a total of $600 to cash out and if the bonus is "sticky" then they would deduct the $10 they gave you to play with in the first place from your balance when you withdraw. Remember, if it is bonus plus deposit then whatever the total amount you have to play times 30 if the play through is 30X is the amount you have to wager before cashing out. Hope this helps

If you're planning on taking bonuses with your deposits you'd better get into the habit of reading all the terms and conditions and questioning any you might not understand. There are usually a hell of a lot more conditions in there than just how much you have to wager. They'll tell you what games you can play and how much you're allowed to bet. They might tell you you're not even eligible if you're a student or in the wrong country. It'll save you a whole lot of headaches down the road if you ever decide to cash out.

If you're like me and don't have the ambition to sift through all those bonus terms just play with your own money. That way they'll need a pretty damn good reason to say you can't have your winnings.

You need to read the TOS.

"6. Bets, placed on any game, which abuse the betting system will not be counted towards the wagering requirements. We reserve the right to withhold any amount in excess of the player’s original deposit from a player's withdrawal if the player placed bets equal or in excess to 20% of the bonus amount before the wagering requirements for that particular bonus have been met. "

So you can't bet more than 0.22 at once without risking that they take any potensial winnings from you(pretty rougish IMHO). Do also read their restricted games list.
