Canbet Casino closed it's doors today.

Dear Affiliate, June 2011
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: Canbet Casino

Please note that as of today, 30 June 2011, Canbet Casino will no longer be operational.

The decision was made to re-focus on Canbet's core business of Horse Racing and Sports Betting, and this means that all available resources will be diverted to these channels.

We kindly request that all affiliates currently promoting Canbet Casino remove the marketing material from their sites as soon as possible.

In the meantime, traffic from affiliates will be diverted to Canbet's Sports betting site, where you will still be credited with any revenue generated from registrations and play. Casino creative hosted by CommissionKing will also be replaced with Sports creative, so as not to leave broken images on your website in the event that you are unable to implement the change right away.

We thank you for your support and promotion of Canbet Casino, and hope to continue working closely together marketing Canbet's Sports and Racing products.

Kind Regards
The CommissionKing Team.

WTF:mad:

Didn't they think their PLAYERS deserved to be informed of this BEFORE it happened. This is the FIRST I have heard of it, and I have heard nothing as a PLAYER.

EDIT.

Logging into my account just now, they have INTENTIONALLY not given players ANY advance warning. Whilst there is now a notice about this in the lobby, the rest of the website STILL looks "business as usual".

In particular, the CURRENT 20% slots cashback promo is live, and players who have lost between the 27th and now would be expecting their 20% cashback on the 5th. Now they will probably forfeit this, and if they had an active bonus on their casino account, would not have had an opportunity to play it off.

If they had, say, accumulated passports in Tomb Raider II or similar, these too are forfeit.

They have shown NO consideration to their casino players.

We should have been told about this much earlier, and promotions going beyond the 30th should have been pulled from the website, and replaced with this notice. No further bonuses should have been offered for the casino, with the remaining days only being available so that players could complete WR and transfer everything to the sportsbook.

Fortunately for me, my balance is zero, and so are my loyalty points.

I have just checked, and the games STILL load, so it looks like those who have balances and valid loyalty points have a few hours left to rescue them, meet WR, and move it to the sportsbook.

I am now going to uninstall the casino and update my records.

Canbet - closed, pending purchase by Casino Rewards :D

:D

WTF:mad:

Didn't they think their PLAYERS deserved to be informed of this BEFORE it happened. This is the FIRST I have heard of it, and I have heard nothing as a PLAYER.

I was surprised to see this email amongst my affiliate emails, but to get nothing in the email address registered to the casino as a player was more surprising.

Also to be sending out that email on the day they are closing, where's the notice :what:

It's the first I have heard of it too. So don't feel bad :p

I don't actually suffer, but this is NOT the kind of behaviour I would expect from this class of operation, and it means I cannot trust other casinos not to do the same, and close without notice, and I may well have a balance there, and end up losing loyalty points, accumulated passports in Tomb Raider II etc.

Another thing, what about those who are playing MPV tournaments from their Canbet accounts, and have already used SOME continues, or are "in the money", yet the tournaments don't end till AFTER Canbet closes. How do they carry on and get the best score, and what happens to their prize money.

It is things like this that last over a number of days or sessions that should require casinos to give a certain minimum notice period to players, and something Microgaming should write into their contracts, as players will be expecting Microgaming to "make them whole" over any losses made because of the lack of notice, and MGS could face yet another scandal where players have lost out because an operator has "done the dirty" on them.

How can ANY operator expect players to feel confident when we are repeateldy subjected to these "ambush" actions, and expected to "suck it up" when we lose money, or value, from them.

Where did you see that?
And do those banners & links have affy codes?

Re Closure: Canbet affiliates owe me the princely sum of $20 - I guess I can kiss that goodbye! :xxx

And yes, they're tagged.

Well, it looks as though they are trying to milk every last penny out of the players by encouraging them to move to BelleRock from THEIR affiliate account, rather than search the internet and perhaps join through a regular affiliate. Not only are affiliates worried about losing this month's revenue, and having recently acquired players lost before they have earned them much commission, they are even being denied the chance to divert these players to other sites themselves, since they could have clicked through from the Canbet lobby and been tagged to Canbet. Canbet will STILL end up making money from their players, even WITHOUT operating a casino themselves.

Players get screwed once, but affiliates get screwed TWICE.

The CORRECT way to have done this for affiliates would have been to move the players over to BelleRock (with their consent of course), but arrange for the original affiliates to carry their original tag with them, so that all they would need is an account with the BelleRock program, and their ex Canbet players would be retagged to their account as BelleRock players.

The CORRECT way for players is simply to have given them a workable period of notice, and make this CLEAR on the website by ensuring that no promotions were advertised for beyond the closure date.

They have not gone bust, they are simply focussing on the sportsbook. There is therefore NO excuse for them not paying affiliates their last month's revenue, nor players their balances.

I logged into the download version, there is absolutely nothing I can see that would indicate this is the last business day. Banking loads (although I didn't deposit :D). Nothing showing under the My Promotions tab, but other than that, no notice.

its in a pop-up

its in a pop-up

Quite, but quite a few players close this before it fully loads because it usually has nothing to say.

STILL no email to players, and as far as everything else is concerned, it looks like "business as usual" right up to midnight. It's possible that they have locked down the deposit function, and a message will only show when you actually make an attempt, but players with balances have no idea that in 3 hours they will be booted, and unable to log back in again.

This will be a problem if they are right in the middle of a game, an MPV tournament, or have remaining WR to complete on an earlier bonus.

The lack of communication also gives players no idea what will happen about their 20% slots cashback on losses, their comp points, and balances that contain uncleared bonuses.

Those with only a cash balance should be able to access it through the sportsbook website, and use it's transfer function to pull it into the sports purse. Casino banking does just this, it does NOT use a separate banking function like the staandard one that usually comes with Microgaming casinos.

Whilst Canbet will probably make sure players don't lose balances, the complete lack of information about what procedures are to be followed will leave players in limbo all weekend, with many feeling they just got screwed over.

This is a classic lesson in how NOT to manage a casino closure.

Wow this is scandalous. Canbet are one of the biggest Sportsbooks out there, they must have a huge player base.

I got an emial from them last weekend including their 20% cashback on slots offer. Why would they send that out if they knew they were closing?

I've always found Canbet to be very reliable and they are a massive company in terms of funding. This is pretty odd.

Agree, one would think that a company with that large of a player base would run a very profitable casino..

The new owners started neglecting the casino players as soon as they took over. I was a VIP under the old owners, and would receive a VIP "special" from Clinton Katts almost every weekend. When the new owners took over, I didn't hear from Clinton for months, so uninstalled the casino once I found out they had been sold. There were a couple of token attempts to offer something to casino players, but the weekly newsletters concentrated on the sportsbook side.

This went on for some time, and things NEVER got back to "normal" for casino players. What they probably have is a large list of DORMANT casino players, and a large list of ACTIVE sportsbook players.

Those casino players that still played regularly despite being neglected have been "disrespected" by how this closure has taken place.

It's now 3 days since the casino closed, yet STILL no email to players. Players will only find out when they try to log on for their weekend play, and can't get in because their account is "locked".

If they have nothing in there, they can just walk away. Those who DO still have something of value in the casino cannot, and now face trying to get it all sorted out with CS, and during a WEEKEND when they will probably be told "xxxxxx are not in till Monday, please contact us then".

Unless you are working through a bonus you will be able to simply tranfer to the sports wallet after you login to the sportsbook at Canbet.com.

I don't see this as a reason to panic but clearly the situation is far from ideal.

I just joined Canbet less a week ago and used the cm bonus offer. Deposit 25 get 75 free I never did get my bonus I guess I will never. It makes me made as when I sighned up Im sure they knew they would be closing and they should of informed me when I sighned up.
This is what I dont like about online gambling!!!

This is the problem. They were FALSELY ADVERTISING such promotions even though the closure date was so close that they had no intention of honouring them.

All they can do now is put the bonus in the sportbook, but many players would have signed up for the CASINO, and may not even be interested in sports betting.

A snap closure like this where players are cut off midway through an advertised promotion, or have accounts frozen mid way through playing off a bonus, or playing in an MPV tournament, indicates this was FORCED on them, rather than something they had planned.

The date being the last day of June suggests that it was driven by the expiry of their contract with Microgaming, and they were trying to negotiate a better deal right up to the last minute. Microgaming wouldn't offer them what the wanted, so they decided to let it lapse and concentrate their efforts elsewhere.

The only other time this type of thing happens is when a company goes bust, but given that the Canbet sportsbook is still operating, this can't be the case here, which is what was so puzzling in the first place, as a company still operating should have been able to arrange an orderly run down and exit from a product they no longer wanted to offer.

When all the changes, followed by closure, of Royal Joker took place, the players received plenty of advance notice, and were kept informed on a regular basis as to what was going to happen, when, and how.

Again, cant say im surprised to see this particular casino close its doors. Again due to poor management. Im not saying all but a sizeable chunk of players are bonus players, ie we WANT bonus offers. I joined this casino a year or so back and apart from the initial sign up offer, the only casino promotion mailings I personally received (and they were few and far between) offered 15 % or 20 % deposit bonus matches. Err yeah thanks but no thanks, ill just simply pop over here to 32 red where i can get regular 100 % and even 200 % deposit matches for my money. Casino la vida and red flush i predict will also go the same route. Give it time....give it time.
