We're having an "Indian Summer" in the UK, and instead of moping about in our winter coats, this is what me & my friends were doing yesterday:

Obviously that's me impersonating a whale in the middle, with my daughter Zoe (in the arm-bands) and 2 of her friends in the English Channel!
Bloody freezing when you first get in - but OK once you get used to it!

Hey cool photo! Seems you are having a great time with your pals.

The weather is kind of crazy. In Madrid we are still like 30ºC and super sunny. I'm not complaining though ;)

Nice, quality time! Thanks for sharing.

Aw how fun!!! We usually get a pretty long Indian summer; no such luck this year. Snow's expected to fall one of these nights lol.

Enjoy yourself kk :)

Haha, great picture KK. Been pretty warm here in Norway aswell from thursday to saturday. But everything is back to normal now

Mate, You would not swap moments like that for ANYTHING in this world would you. Old KK young at heart and havin a ball with his kid and co.

It would be safe to say you are a helicopter father like me.

Whats a helicopter father you ask:

Helicopter parent is a colloquial, early 21st-century term for a parent who pays extremely close attention to his or her child's or children's experiences and problems

We're in the spring-summer transition at present, but the weather has been very iffy and all over the place.

The ocean here is pretty chilly at the best of times, but my wife swims every morning, rain or shine - summer or winter. Not at present though; there was a Great White shark attack near our home this past week and a poor guy had his legs chowed off, so the beaches are temporarily closed.

Apparently this is the time of year when the fugglies are here in force and come close inshore.

There's vid of the latest attack up on Youtube, with some good aerial shots of a really big johnnie cruising around the attack location.

1st October was the hottest October day recorded in the UK. 29.9 degrees C at Gravesend (Kent) beat the previous record of 29.4 degrees C. Yesterday (2nd) reached 29.3 - still pretty hot for an August day, let alone October.

Things are now cooling off, and soon temperatures could be LOWER than normal for October.

That is probably your last visit to the beach this year KK:D

My Great Niece and I spent the 1st on the M3, A30, A31, etc:mad: It was SUPPOSED to be spent at Paultons Park, but we didn't make it that far until 3pm, and I was not paying full price just for the last two hours, so we went to my Mum's place instead to have a picnic in the back garden. At least my car has air con:D

You're right there mate!
I didn't turn my computer on at all that day. Meant I missed out on a free-spin promo which might have made me a few €, but like you say, these times are all too few and you have to make the most of them!

I feel old now, I remember when you posted pics of that little one when she was brand new! :)
Yeah me too - and that was over three and a half years ago now.
Had another one since then - and that's nearly a year ago too now.
How time flies! :eek2:

Definitely NOT my last trip to the beach - it's only a 400 yard walk from where we live!

It's a shame you didn't make it to Paultons in time. We went there in May and it was great for little ones!
Because it was off season it was pretty quiet and so me & Zoe went round & round on her favourite roller-coaster about 6 times back-to-back without having to get off!

Thanks for all the thanks & comments everyone!

She's growing into a beautiful young "woman" KK. (And I agree with you chayton, it DOES seem like yesterday when she was just a baby:))You are creating a lot of good memories she will carry with her for the rest of her life, keep up the good work! It's wonderful to hear so many great stories of how so many of you take the time out of busy schedules to spend it with your little ones (even the big ones ). There are so many children in the world who never get a chance to spend quality time because the parents are too busy. Keep up the great job everyone!!! It's well worth it in the long run!

*side note* In a few years KK is going to be going crazy when his little girl starts talking about boys :D And that little one!!! He just makes you want to pick him and hug him!

The problem was that although it was "off season", it was such an exceptional weekend that "everybody" decided to go out for one last summery fling. Unfortunately, the authorities didn't suspend roadworks as they would for a summer bank holiday. The second closure of the M3 due to an accident on the trot (had another Friday that caused me to divert on the way up here) coupled with the closure of the A33 (another way into Hampshire via Reading), left us with no clear way into Hampshire from Berkshire. The journey back was quick, no accidents to block the road, so although the traffic was dense, it kept moving along.

My great niece has yet to start school, so true "off season" opportunities exist. Unfortunately, her aunties DID have school (yes, young aunties!), so there was little option other than Saturday for all of them to go.

A mere 28.3 degrees yesterday, the COOLEST October day so far in 2011:cool:
