Budget 10 inch tablet

Sadly, I accidently smashed my iPad Air 2 back in February, and to fix the screen is about $300. Even buying a kit online is almost $200, and it's not something I feel all that confident to attempt. Did not love the Safari browser either. I did love watching media on it. The 7th generation iPad is within my budget (barely), but lacks the laminated screen which gave such a brilliant picture, and there is no removable storage.

I had a little FireHD Tablet I loved, but it was terrible to game with, but I sadly took it by mistake to Amsterdam a few years ago, leaving my cheapo Acer at home, with all the movies and TV I had downloaded. Ended up leaving it in the seatback pocket.

I see now that you can sideload The Play Store, and browsers such as Chrome on the new Amazon Tablets, and at $200 the Amazon Fire HD10 is the front runner for me. Does anyone own one? Since the principal use of it will be watching movies and browsing, it seems like it will suit that well.

The other front runner is a cheap chinese tablet from Teclast probably, either the teclast p10HD or m30. The p10HD is really new, can't find many reviews for it, but will be cheap, and has a laminated screen.

Anyone have a recent tablet that they love? I am looking for under $400 CAD but would prefer under $250 to be honest.

Black Friday is coming up, so I want to have it narrowed down before then.

Honestly, I just go for the Walmart android tablets; nearly always under 200 bucks and does what I want, which is mostly read, but fine for camera, surfing, netflix, music and slots.
Unless it's your primary device I don't see any point in getting high end models as it (cheap models) does pretty much everything.
Also, any 'i' tablet shatters at a sneeze whereas I drop mine almost daily and it's still scratch free

Just did a quick search and landed on this one.

Huawei MediaPad T5 10 16GB (around 1500sek)

But like Dionysus says, most all budget android tablets will do what you want.

Wow, 1500 sek is a great price for that. It's over $410, plus taxes of course, here in Canada, close to 3K SEK.

The Samsung Tab A is under consideration, but it runs about $100 more than the Fire tablet. A friend got a smaller Tab A for his birthday, I don't like the aspect ratio, but the colours and screen were good.

I have a hard time making decisions, even simple ones, due to my depression. But my old Acer Iconia B1-730 is still kicking, although some of my favourite apps are no longer supported since it's Android 4.4 I think. Battery is kinda pooched too, but it is about 6 years old I think. The viewing angles are terrible, but it still works great for playing Suduko. Netflix works quite well on it actually, just picture quality is not great, and I would like a bigger screen.

The current Acer is within my budget, but reviews are poor.

My current tenant is in need of a cheap tablet too, but he wants really cheap. His current one is an RCA, and it's completely dead after 2 1/2 years. He surfs, and uses spotify mostly.

That's actually a pretty good price for 128 Nordog, early black friday pricing, I'm not sure why it hasn't turned up in my tablet searches this weekend, or the flyers. I suspect the Fire will go on sale for at least $20, and maybe more, off, so that is closing in on twice the price. Shoppers currently has the Fire 7 on sale, but it's the older model, and I know they had the 10 on sale for just $150 not too long ago, but it was not reasonable for me to purchase one at that time.

I really appreciate all the help, it's been exhausting past week trying to figure this out. I spent $130 on badly needed clothes tonight, as well as $50 down the tubes on the Twin Race. So $300 plus taxes kind of tops my budget out for a want, not a need.

No resentment to Twin, last weekend's win gives me some play money, and I've been playing.

I've been holding off since February when I killed the iPad, but I'm not sure my willpower will extend another month to not buy something else with a couple of hundred bucks.

If anyone is really interested, I dropped the bottom of a near empty champagne bottle directly on the screen, flat on a formica kitchen table and it functioned for a bit albeit with some lines.

It seemed fragile from the start. My old kindle fire used to have an ad with leaving it on top of a car and driving off, and it had a couple of drops with me.

in the coming weeks leading up to christmas, im sure there will be alot of sales&deals to be had.
So if you can hold out just a while, i think it may pay off. =)
I'm not sure if there's an equivalent your way, here, Boxing Day (the day after Xmas) is the big sales day, similar to the American Black Friday (though we've adopted that too)

Whether I have money or not, I always read the flyers. I suspect my inability to resist great holiday bonus offers over the holidays will be detrimental to my budget from the recent cashout. One of the reasons for my real life popularity is finding a deal for various things, but I have not found boxing day to really surpass black friday and cyber monday on electronics, unless clearance on previous year models. I see that this past week.

I did buy some cute clothes, and the long needed rubber rings for my 45 year osterizer.

Yeah we have "mellandagsrea" starting i think 26th december.
A week where most every store put out pretty big discounts.

Its actually a bit of a kick in the balls to everyone who just spent a buttload of money shopping for christmas, haha.
Thats usually when i shop around if there is anything a bit more pricey ive been after.
Electronics mostly.

I pretty much bankupted myself with some home improvements...so here's hoping none of my electronics die (fingers crossed).
I usually try to grab something around this time, but thankfully, I'm ok right now. Generally, something's wonky and I'm scouring sales too.

Honestly, you would struggle to beat the Fire for the price, plus it will be on offer for Black Friday, its £149 in the UK for the new one at the moment, it will likely be £109/119 max this time next week.
Don't buy any cheap Chinese shit, they are all terrible, stick to branded ones.

Sideloading the Play Store is dead easy, so that gives you Chrome and the usual Google stuff..the speakers are pretty good, i Bluetooth an external speaker for extra oomph lol.

Both the Amazon Fire 7 & 10 are amazing pieces of kit and will give some of the more pricey brands a run for their money

Not terribly much to add or enthuse about that hasn't already been said, but they run everything you'd expect very well and at times make you wonder if they're actually making a hefty loss on them (not that Amazon are short of a bob or two)

I've owned really bad tablets, due to my mother foisting literally the worst pieces of kit onto me from all corners of the earth, then one day I actually told her to stop expecting £20 tablets to perform like i-Macs and buy something decent at an affordable price (and to stop my ever-growing collection of tablet/ door-stoppers/ coasters from getting out of hand)

Fire is probably the best all-rounder out there that I can see
