Boss Blackjack Dealer Error. Hit on 17 against rules at Victor

Today I was playing Blackjack at Victor Casino (victorcasino.com) which uses Boss Media software . According to the rules the Dealer Must stand on 17 and draw to 16. While my cards were 7 2 and dealer had A visible, I chose not to insure. I hit and got a King and chose to stand at 19. The dealer revealed a 6 getting 17 (11+6) but refused to stand and automatically took one more card (King) getting 17 and finally chosed to stand.

In brief: Victor Casino (which uses Boss media software) hit soft 17 which is against their rules. Has anyone else noticed this?

Rules for the Dealer
The dealer must draw cards until he has at least 17, and must stand at 17 or higher. If the dealer gets 16, he must take another card. The dealer may not decide whether or not to draw a card based on your hand, but must abide by existing dealer rules.

I have attached the screenshot & rules of the table where you can verify this.

Here we go again, I kept playing as I am trying to clear the bonus, I standed on 18, dealer got soft 17 and hit again and got 21. Lost $10 because of that.

Sent a mail to the support, lets see what happens. Comments?

Hey, at least they weren't hitting a hard 17. Wasn't that long ago that someone posted a thread about that...different software though.

Maybe it's time to look into whether or not Boss needs to be on that list.

Or maybe it's an honest glitch....never know.

But....it even says right on the "felt" that the dealer stands on all 17's....

:eek2: Wow thats a major glitch!
Smart idea taking screenshots!
It is not a glitch. VC must have switched to H17 blackjack without telling the player and without updating the help files.

Btw, there are some true gems in the help files. For example, they recommend that you double on 7 or 8 vs 3 to 6.

I don't see how the individual casinos can do this. It'd require code changes on the server side as well as the client side. They couldn't do this unless they had programmers on staff, as well as access to the source code; which I really doubt.

IE: They can change the payout % they want to keep, but not game details such as what's happening.

That's why I believe the fault lies with Boss, not the casino..Whether or not they know about it is moot.

Atlantic Casino has had a H17 blackjack for ages, and I think there was some other Boss Media casino with H17 rules. VC just had to ask Boss Media to replace their blackjack with the H17 version, they did not need to write new code.

True, but if they simply switched the BJ program out, it wouldn't say "Dealer stands on 17 and draw to 16" on the 'felt'...

Hmmm this sound like my mansion thread all of a sudden. Guess he should have read the rules?

He did :p

I am glad that others also see their error in this. They clearly state that their dealer stands on 17. If they have changed the rules, it would be fair that they'd state the correct rules. The rules at the table & their web site are both incorrect.

I sent them an email with both of the screenshots in this thread attached:

Dear Victor

I am refering to game blackjack played on Sep 10 2006 4:46 BM of $5. I was holding 18, your dealer had 17 but chose to hit and got 21 to win the round. I did not receive my winnings of $10 because of your dealers error and not playing according to the rules. Please refund me the $10.

They have done a "thorough investigation into your game history and did not find my game". I must wonder if they ever opened the screenshots. I will mail them again, and will share them also a link to this thread.

I'll keep you posted

How do casinos get away with this type of thing, granted the error in the new rules just needs to be edited. But my god! This was a 'thorough investigation'?

WTF ever.

My point exactly. How often do you feel that the Casinos can get away with just about anything just by replying with a standard replying "We have to politely tell you that nothing can be done".

I truly am glad that this board exists and some things get corrected. Not always, but sometimes. Players at Online Casinos' are truly gambling with their money every sense because if something nasty happens, players' have limited resources available to them to solve the issue. Thanks to Casinomeister once again for his tremendous contribution to the online gamblers community. Btw, VC replied and stated that they will look into my case again.

Don't give up. Give them the exact date and time so that they have less of a chance of not finding it.

Just got a reply from them.
I must wonder if they (or CS Jegana) ever really read my emails. This time they sent me their "tips how to play blackjack" even though I was refering to their "Dealer must stand on 17" -rule. :what:

Dear XXXX,

Thank you for contacting Victor Casino support.

With regards to your e-mail please note:

If the dealer's open card is: Hit on: Stand on:
3, 4, 5, or 6 11 and lower 12 and higher
Soft* 17 and lower Soft* 18 and higher
7, 8, 9, 10, or Ace 16 and lower
Soft* 17 and lower 17 and higher
Soft* 18 and higher
* An ace can count as 1 or 11. A "soft" hand refers to a hand with an ace that counts as 11. A " soft 17", therefore, is an ace plus a 6. A player with an ace has the advantage of being able to change the ace's value to count as 1 after drawing another card. A hand with an ace that counts as 1 is called a hard hand.

Best regards,Jegana
My reply:

Dear Victor Casino

I hope you really read this email throughout.

Thank your email. I must wonder why did you copy "Tips General Advice and Basic Blackjack Strategy for Beginner" from your blackjack page and sent it to me. Why are you sending me tips how to play blackjack? Instead, I suggest that you should focus on the fact that your black rules CLEARLY state that:

"Rules for the Dealer: The dealer must draw cards until he has at least 17, and must stand at 17 or higher.

This rule clearly is in conflict with the fact that your dealer hit 17. The rules states must stand on 17. So quite simply your dealer is playing against the set rules. I am asking you most kindly to compensate the $10 as stated as earlier.

Please also refer to: https://www.casinomeister.com/forum...rror-hit-on-17-against-rules-at-victor.14056/ , where I have a started a thread of this topic.

Yours sincerely, XXX

Will keep you posted, cheers..

They finallyrefunded my account. Thanks Victor Casino.

I wonder why they did not change the rules, as they still state that dealer must stand on 17. I I am pretty sure that the dealer still hits soft 17.

Dear Mr. XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Victor Casino support.

I have refunded your account with 10 USD.
