I read almost every post at CM even though most of the casinos i can not play at. I really need a life. I do not know if any other member deal with chronic illness but it is life changing to say the least. The only thing i look forward to is my afternoon nap :baby: and my tournaments i love dearly. When i have to venture out, i always hope where ever i am at will not take too long so i can get back home and rest. My son told me i need to force myself to get out more. I wish it were that easy. I decided to write this post because i am down right bored. 2 more hours until nap time :D:p. Oh the excitement of being on the move and applying to be an extra on the movie sets. I am sure those days are gone. Remember the movie Grumpy Old Men? My kids call me Grumpy Old Woman :D. Well, i guess i will go see if there are any new posts. Have a good day all.

I will have to get my son (the video game master) to show me how to. I have heard of that game at least. He plays black ops (i believe) after work and sometimes i watch him. He uses a mic and he kills zombies with friends. I could be wrong about the game name though, but i do enjoy watching him play. I suck at video games but i will surely give it a shot, thanks.

So sorry to hear rena that you're suffering from chronic illness. Perhaps looking into some alternative means to lift up your spirits and possibly your energy levels is an idea.

I chant a Chinese/Japanese mantra which always gives me hope and fresh energy. Google Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo if you like and see if it´s something for you. All the best and happy holidays!

What about taking up a hobby like photography? You can take photos of the most mundane and turn them into something awesome. Even the simplest smartphones can take some great photos, then there are software bundles that come along with them.

I will. I refuse the strong pain relievers and opt for Ibuprofen or Tylenol. Someone did mention meditation works. I usually don't talk much about it but i have Lupus. The internal form anyways. My mom had both skin and internal, which is a very bad illness. I am off to look it up and thanks. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Sorry to hear of you illness, really do not like to hear of these stories, whether 'physical' friends family or friends on here (where as you know I spend most of my time )

Can feel for you on both the illness and the boredom factor and will share you pain lol.

I suffer from (although not 100% diagnosed yet and hopefully won't be!) the symptoms associated with ME (chronic fatigue syndrome) so never any energy, any get up and go and feel although not totally miserable, down and under motivated most of the time.

Also being self employed which has rapidly degenerated into almost nothingness in recent times I've seen a decrease in work meaning more 'spare' time and hence greater periods of serious boredom, borderline pulling hair out.

This knock on effect of reduced income also means reduced gambling budget so can't even rely on a cheeky deposit to cure the boredom as often as I'd like / used to.

Only partially helps but I find forcing myself to do little chores which have waited months, years maybe, like finally clearing the cupboard under the stairs, throwing out those never to be used again items or taking stuff to local charity shop etc.

Also too much TV is boring too but I do love my TV series which kills the odd couple of hours, Breaking Bad, Prison Break, The Walking Dead, Homeland (starting this last one soon) to name a few.

Videos (some slotting, some not) on You Tube can also help nullify boredom.

Hope things perk up soon and I hope this post helps even if just a little :)

I do write poetry and short stories. I am waiting until after Christmas to get a piece added to my lap top so i can talk and it will type. Not sure what it is called but my mom has one. Sometimes i love technology although i do miss the old days ;).

Medical marijuana is known to be quite effective against things like chronic pain. If you are in a state that allows prescriptions, you may want to look into this.

Rena, when I first joined CM, I was not well. And it got worse. A whole year of my life and the highlight of my week was visting the wound clinic and having a shower, and the cafeteria in a wheelchair if I felt up to it.

CM kept me from madness and abject despair. Stay away from the narcotics as long as you can, they carry their own set of issues. I'll agree with Bryan about investigating medical marijuana, and I will absolutely concur that meditation helps. There are many forms, and it's not that difficult to learn, just takes practice, like most things. I've been meditating since I was 15, and while I may drift away from it at times, I know i benefit from it in many ways.

While I don't enjoy the best of health these days, I don't live in constant pain anymore. I do find a combination of ice therapy and heat helps a lot with muscle pain.

Also, CM is not the only forum out there. There are groups for every interest, from poetry and films, gardening and shopping tips to car repairs and origami.

Keep your chin up.

Pre-occupy your brain as much as you can and immerse yourself into something deeply. This helps for a lot of things, you just need to try different things to do & or find that will do that.

And it's just one of those things at the end of the day... you have to just try different things yourself, self motivate to do so, to be occupied in something and find something that sparks an interest
and passion into something or a variety of things. Soooooooooooo many things to do one just has to pick something anything, do it and try!!

Thanks for writing and sharing your story. Reaching out and sharing is a great step.
Since you love to write and can get around the digital world,... you should make full use of it. Either for your own hobbies - blog, instagram, twitter, post away, snap away... expand your circle and you wont be bored. I mean my insta is 99% foodporn. Many people make a living just updating and moderating social media for others. Anyway, keep keeping on.
