Players all over Europe are receiving this email from Bodog.co.uk. A followup to support got an email that there is a lack of payment processing for those countries which is obviously not true since most/all countries can use Moneybookers and Neteller. Is Bodog closing its doors in all of Europe?

Starting 30 August 2012, Bodog.co.uk will no longer process transactions in your jurisdiction.

We recommend that you withdraw any balance you may have in your account by 30 August 2012. Minimum withdrawal amount is $/€/£10. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bodog.co.uk NOT closing- the affected countries:

Hi Everyone,

Apologies for the confusion- I spoke with bodog.co.uk management and here's what is happening:

“The only countries affected are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. We feel it is better to concentrate on our strengths & where we can offer the best product. The Bodog brand is known for its high level of customer service & spreading ourselves too thinly to try and cover a huge amount of smaller markets was proving logistically difficult. Bodog.co.uk will concentrate on growing existing markets".

Hope this helps,
Becky

“The only countries affected are:

For those not familiar with geographic data of these countries - they are 20 of about 50 European countries and represent a total population of 300 million which roughly equals to the population of the U.S.

I am sad to see Bodog closing here, it was one of the first poker rooms I joined a long time ago, and although I haven't played much recently, it was definitly one of the most reliable poker rooms / casinos in terms of customer service and payment speed.

Thank you for clearing that up Becky. There is some serious confusion at 2+2 in NVG that you may want to clear up. One poster says that Bodog could not get an EU license and are bailing from the entire market but the posters that are getting that email are in the smaller countries that you mention.

Edit: I see you have already hit that 2+2 thread.

Wow. Rough. We've spent the last few months trying to raise investment for licensing so we can set up the legal structures we need to start processing Moneybookers, Neteller and credit cards. Skrill/MB has been after us for awhile to set up with them, but since we're in CR and we don't have the structure where we can land the funds, there's no point in doing it. Right now we can still engage all those countries through Bitcoin.

I thought it would help us to get serious with other payment methods, but it's starting to look like there's no point. Arguably some of those countries aren't worth a whole lot... but to cut out Russia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Israel has to hurt a lot.

@Becky, I've now emailed Calvin twice about this...(in the last 3 years)... and until you guys let Jeff Ross go, he was following our progress and new games pretty seriously. Bitcoin's the future; Calvin said it himself. It does away with all these problems. Now do a google search for bitcoin casino, and the software I wrote is the first result. I begged Jeff two years ago -- before we launched -- to ask Calvin if we could be under Bodog's wing and brand our site as "Bodog Labs". I don't know if he asked, but apparently what came back from his boss was that you didn't want to split traffic flow off your main site. Now you're going dark in all of Eastern Europe...wtf??

*snip*

[derail] I looked at the bit-coin casino and saw a winner from USA but the terms upon download said USA is excluded. Poot! [/derail]
