Betsafe Advert (Dave )

Was watching the tv channel Dave and noticed Betsafe are sponsoring their evening entertainment. The adverts seem to be biased around how they're paying for this from their customers losses. I know it's supposed to be tongue in cheek but I'm not sure I agree with it, what with gambling addictions and such.

Cheap, disparaging and patronizing all in one fell swoop!

At least it gives us an insight into how casinos view their clientele.

Good work Betsafe!

In between episodes of top gear. Well I would have to be on top gear before I invest in a site that mocks the players that their fleecing. :drink:

Genuinely would be inclined to make a complaint to the ASA about them after also seeing them. Seems to be quite condescending, plus they do not have the "If the fun stops. stop" roadblock at the end that they are supposed to.

It could be viewed as a "dare", to chase one's losses to get "revenge" after being taunted. This would probably violate the responsible gambling principles, and these apply just as much to advertising as they do to the games themselves.

This ad may well not "be transmitted in it's current form" for much longer.

I think some of the blame here should lie with the network Dave for airing such a distasteful ad in the first place. I know ad revenue is important but come on... somebody in the ad dept. fell asleep at the wheel metinks:mad: Responsibility should lie between the casino for making a repugnant ad AND for the network that decided that it was a good idea to air it. It takes a village.

So I did a little research and found another ad from the same campaign from Betsafe. Can't remember watching it on telly. It's worse then the ops one. They seem to be actually encouraging people to chase their losses. I am at a loss for words, and lost respect for a casino that I previously thought was a good and fair one.

I kind of like these ads. They have this subtile cleverness and deliver an important fact. The lady speaks with a forked tongue ofcourse, if it didn't there would be no point having such an ad, but it is still better than what most their competitors do, displaying huge bonus/JP offers everywhere, with a small responsible gambling logo at the bottom of the page.

However for most people the message should be clear: Gamble, and you'll most likely end up paying Betsafe's employees' wages, and contribute to yachts and luxury mansions of their owners. however you may get lucky for a while(but not in the long run).

I had a sneak peek at their next advert! It's quite symbolic. It will feature a sexy woman walking around the establishment, taking turns to defecate on every punter she passes.

Why not get straight to the crux of the matter, eh?

Well last year punters won 1 billion pounds from online gambling and casino's made 20 billion just by entertaining those folk.

There are folk who would willingly pay bloody good money for such attention

Can you find this ad again? It seems to have been removed from YouTube.

They are trying to be clever and different. I dislike all these ads from betsafe- seen about 4 different ones so far with the lady in the office. They are designed to take the p out of those who lose to taunt into getting revenge which is totally wrong. Saying that she bought the office with daves losses i mean how is that going to get new players to sign up? Really? Advertising the fact you will lose?

Bad taste or not, they have achieved something - they got people talking about their brand. I know what the reply is going to be: 'Well I certainly wont play there' But just by getting people talking means they have stood out that bit more than the rest.

I don't agree that they are encouraging chasing losses, its refreshing to see a company actually talk about customers losing money. Most of the other bs casino ads out there are more misleading in my opinion 'all flashing lights and terrible techno music - win, win, win!!'

Would be interesting to find out if the company has seen a rise in new accounts on the back of this campaign. My guess is it will go one way or the other quite dramatically.

In some ways uncomfortable to watch - but as Conker said it has got people talking. Im not sure where this sits with RS and if this advert could be seen as encouraging people to chase the losses.
But I suppose its more of an honest approach than some of the other BS adverts that come on the tv after the watershed. PR departments love controversy though as it gets them in the headlines
and Betsafe are no different and they do take a very bullish approach with the way they advertise which Im sure will equate into more players.
