I just got off another hilarious conversation with Omar (llive chat rep) from BetPhoenix.
I am done with this place, this was last attempt to make some kind of relation with this casino.
I am attempting a deposit using Visa, getting message "Your transaction needs confirmation" or something like this. Going live chat and ...he asked me to provide my Visa Verify password that he can complete my transaction.
So, I was wondering, how many of you would provide that info to live chat rep?
I think this is unacceptable to even ask about password. Opinions?

also, got email today with $27 free chip offer. requested and been denied. Reason? last transaction not a deposit (in fact it was a deposit :)))

a couple days ago, went to live chat to ask if there any good deposit match available for me. Rep send me a link to BetPhoenix promotion page and...ended chat session.

but the greatest one happened a month ago or so. about 1AM, requesting live chat for Terms on some bonuses and getting reply "I DO NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION, CONTACT US BACK during the day". When I said, I want to play right now, not in 10 hours, he said, that there is nothing he can do.

You may have a misunderstanding as to what the visa verify password is. It's not you pin# you use at the atm. Normally, it's something like the last 4 digits of your social security number. It sounds like he needed it to try and help you get your deposit through the processing software.

As for the rest, ????

Hopefully Nicolas Johnson will be along to help you.

No, i did not. this is actual password that I use on some gambling sites to complete transaction. Visa verify process works to verify funds availability in my bank to complete transaction.
Some of gambling sites automatically directing you to this process, that's why I do not understand why BetPhoenix cant do the same. Let's say I gave him a password.
And lets' imagine one of them decided to still money from my card or use it on other site. Not hard card is on file, and password was provided...
Maybe, I am making big deal of it...that's why I asked for opinions.

and who Nikolos Johnson is?:)

Same thing happened to me a month ago. Hell if I was to give them my verified by visa password.

If they can't set up a webpage for you to do it, then they don't deserve my money.

You don't give any password to anyone. Specially a credit card.

hi . your visa verify pin is yours & yours only, not for ANYONE else to use ive had the same problem with the same casino , but not any longer there slots were tight anyway so it landed itself in the bin yet another casino gone )

Verify by Visa shifts liability to the cardholder. I don't know to what extent it has been tested in the courts but the essence of the VbV T&C conditions is that the cardholder is liable for online transaction carried out using VbV (a typical example: "You will be liable for all use of your Security Details unless it is a result of fraud or due to our negligence or the negligence of any party which assist us in providing the Barclays Verified by Visa service"). In other words, if you give out your VbV password to a casino employee who already has you card details, he can go shopping at your expense.

Here is a paper describing what's wrong with VbV:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

If YOU give out your VbV password, YOU are deemed to be negligent in doing so, and you will NOT be covered if this then leads to fraud.

The MERCHANT should have NO involvement in the process whatsoever, so never neeeds this password "to complete the transaction". What SHOULD happen is that after entering your details, you are redirected to a server run by your BANK (not the merchant), where you enter the password. Only THEN is the transaction authorised, and your bank's server sends you back to the merchant's server with the transaction having been authorised. The merchant's server can then complete the transaction, and request the money.

It is similar to giving someone your PIN number, and asking them to withdraw some cash for you. Surely you would NEVER give your card and PIN to someone you have never met, and over the internet, so WHY would anyone give their VbV password to soneone who already has everything else needed to use your card online.

There is a worrying trend of casino CS staff making such requests from players in order to get the money into the casino. Some don't know where the line is, and end up crossing it. Casinos should make sure their employees know where this line is.

Quick note: Someone was kind enough to point me to this thread, and I just saw it, I'm finding out what is going on. I'll be back with a reply shortly. :notworthy

I see 7 days later Nicolas has not responded. Not because of this, but because of other slow or non existant communication issues, I closed my account there yesterday.

Yes Verified by Visa passwords are not to be given to ANYONE....WTH would they even ask? I have had less than great CS there also....I stopped dep there....well I recently gave up RTG altogether. The lack of informed CS reps is disgusting at all of them PERIOD!

It is so sad to see what could be good casinos sliding down the toilet just because of lackaluster service. My account closure could have been avoided if someone just would have showed a bit of caring. I'm just one customer. I wonder how many more have been put off by such service? I wonder if customer service just doesn't pay well enough to attract competent employees?

He hasnt been active here in 5 days. LCB has him logging on and active as of yesterday & today. Dont want to read into it too much but kind of a concern he hasnt been representing in 5 days now. In the past 5 days telemarketing calls for deposits have started taking place, and even larger bonuses being offered? Is it a concern?

Naw, you're just like everyone else. Our feelers are very sensitive with RTG casinos lately, and for good reason. I closed a few accounts based on such signs and, so far, I have not been wrong, when looking back. If I had to say one area where almost all RTG casinos need improvement it is in competent customer service. I'm beginning to wonder if knowbody knows what that is anymore.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Sorry for the delay in response. To be real honest, I forgot about this thread, but I did not forget about this issue. A day after my first post on this thread, we banned our reps from asking for the sensitive data that has caused this thread to be opened.

I apologize for the fact that they asked in the first place.:notworthy
