The boss of Bet365 Denise Coates has paid herself £469million - the biggest salary in UK history.

The gambling tycoon, 53, increased her salary by 45 per cent, taking her total earnings since 2016 to £1.3 billion.

The payday means that, between April 2019 and March 2020, she earnt the equivalent of £1.3 million per day, or £54,000 per hour, and took home 2,360 times more than the Prime Minister.

The amount of profit they must make is sickening

She took a punt, she invested in her business, grew it and now shes reaping the rewards. And more importantly she's not hiding the profits or her pay offshore and is very prepared to pay tax on it.
Compare that to a lot of other people who try every single tax dodge to save themselves from paying a fair amount of tax.
Fair play to her.

Excellent bookmaker/casino. No KYC games. If you're verified you're verified unless you have a huge win and that would maybe need to be verfieid thoroughly but I'd imagine it would be a painless and efficient process.

Casinos/bookies should be looking at 365 and trying to emulate them where possible instead of making their casinos hostile, unwelcoming and a stressful experience for the customer.

Why is it sickening?
They took a massive risk 20 years ago and it paid off. They could have lost everything.
Exactly the idea of running any business is to make it as successful as you can.

They have done a great job so fair play to them.

But people have different ideas of what sickening means . A lot of it is jealousy as people have made great successes.

Definitely nothing sickening about someone making a success in life.

But i know what is sickening a lot of people. Being a Gambling forum that people use for information it sickens a lot of people that just to draw attention to themselves some members have found the need to fill their signature with junk photos that totally flood any thread they post on. Personally i always thought the signature bit was to add a link or a few lines. Not to try and get a reaction by making sure every page you post in is flooded with junk that has nothing to do with gambling.

This is just one casino, Fair play to her and her family I am just shocked to see how much she pays her self in a day and how much MORE profit they must make on top of that I never realised , But I would love to know how much of her salary is funded by addicts and problem gamblers

Insulting and abusing your fellow forum members is uncool, please don't.

See I cant even make a thread with an opinion without you lot having something negative to say, I just knew how negative this way going to turn and the same bunch who dislike me have to fucking pipe up and put there 2 cent in.

"But iIknow what is sickening a lot of people. Being a Gambling forum that people use for information it sickens a lot of people that just to draw attention to themselves"

All most every post I make is about gambling if I reply to a thread UNLESS the thread it self is about another issue.

Issue you and other have is that I am outspoken and I'm not just gonna bow down to you and other creatures on this forum, Like others say alot of the hate on this forum and contest goading is not for what I say its for who I am.

"Some members have found the need to fill their signature with junk photos"

After what ive put up with over past 2 years of this forum, I find it hilarious a little Image of A drag queen and Ru Paul gets you lot up in arms, Makes my day knowing you have to see The winner of season 2 Uk Lawrence Chaneyyyyy face every day and the Queen Ru paul. Just a very small victory that.

You and your vile pig friends on here do nothing but try and get reactions when you go and attack people for no reason so don't be 2 faced paul The amount of PM's I get from people on here about the way me and certain others members are treated on this forum I got pages of them, But they are to scared to speak out against the group cause they know they will get shot down and be next on your hitlist.

But its all good cause we all had enough and it wont be long now until it gets dealt with so Im told :D , So carry on crack on keep digging xx

Now Sashay away

1. Although the "fair enough, good on her" sentiment is understandable the sheer scale of her self assigned wage exceeds any reasonable rationality- I think what ticks most people off is the idea that setting up a bookmaker is worth 5000x what someone doing actual labour is.
But if what others say about her being altruistic is correct then there's really not much she can do about it aside from perhaps address the sicknesses her industry creates.

2. I knew someone would complain about that signature sooner or later, and I think escjamie did as well, I'd wager that's why it's there. Attacking the signature, or the OP in what is a reasonable thread, comes across as bigoted even though I believe the issue most people have with the OP is the abrasive nature of her posts in other threads.
Attacking her for earnest, reasonable threads isn't going to help your case.

I’m waiting for the day that someone who earns more money than could ever possibly be needed (several times over) gives away 75% of that wealth. Not just to charity but to ordinary folk. Let’s be honest, even 50m a year is more than anyone could feasibly spend.

1 million pound giveaways could literally change the life of some of her customers, for example. That would be giving something back and is what I would do in her position. It would be coming out of personal wealth rather than impacting on the business.

Then again, I understand that others on here are much more cut throat than I am, and that is OK too. Each to their own.

Why would you love to know that? Do you want to know the same about every casino owner?
I really detest the culture in the UK where theres so much hate for anyone who's done well for themselves. It's just jealousy.

The thing is Collin I can certainly empathise. Getting rich to that extent is as much about luck and a certain set of circumstances occurring as it is hard graft. There is always an element of lottery involved. People go to work, graft hard for 40-50 hours a week and earn a fraction of that.

Add on to that the fact that it’s an absolutely obscene amount of money (that just simply cannot be spent) and you can see why people would feel the money could be used to make other people’s lives better too.

Look at people like George Michael. Earned nowhere near that much per year but it came out after he died he gave millions away to charities and also complete randomers. Gave money to a lady who was on Deal or No Deal for IVF, gave money to a waitress at a restaurant he was eating at so she could pay her education etc etc. Genuinely altruistic people like that get my respect more than anyone else.

Of course it’s her money to as she pleases with, she earned it fair and square...but I just can’t help but think, how much is enough??

She is rich because Bet365 online was self-financed, not beholden to banks or other shareholders. It's a private company, owned mostly by her so theoretically she can have all the profits as a salary.

She is actually being very good by paying herself such a huge salary, as 45% of it will go to the treasury in tax. She could legally avoid over half of that if she was so minded to.

As said, she donates tens of millions to good causes. She also avoids the temptation of spunking it all into the bottomless pit of her crap Football Club Stoke City, sponsoring rather than owning it.

Or she could do what Saint Rashford and other footballers and 'celebrities' do - create a company separately to encompass say image rights or marketing and divert some income in to that. Then they can 'lend' themselves that money so the company's profits aren't taxable but go down as a loan liability. Last year, Rashford for example trousered at least 270k extra by using this loophole, 'lending' himself 900k. He of food bank fame. Not blaming him, he would never have thought of it himself, it would have been his agent and/or accountant's doing.

So we have a woman, very successful who was paid more than all the bosses of the FTSE 100 companies combined.

Good on her. The huge majority of the profits come from overseas, so it's an invisible export for the UK balance of payments.

I would like to see her become the first boss to ever be paid in excess of £1bn a year.

She should be admired, not ostracised.

P.S. I find it sad that a single woman can pay more tax to the UK Exchequer than Google and Amazon combined. That's where the real issue lies.
