I think its great that Wayne has organised this special tourney. Thank you.

It's a shame that, one again, it will be won by those with the deepest pockets who will happily spend $500 to win $1000. A great example is someone here who spent $3500 to win $5000 in a tournament a few months back. It's just crazy.

I would be glad to pay $25 a shot if there were no continues and only a couple of rebuys - at least then my chances are just as good as anyone else's....but I'm not going to spend $20-30 when I have practically zero chance of a return.

Until casinos adopt the poker style of tournament the high rollers will always have a huge advantage.

Sorry, but that's how many players feel.

one alternative would be to choose a slot of extreme high variance for the tourney. rebuys/continues are no surefire recipes for success in this instance.

    Hi Guys,

The tournament prizes are guaranteed and had to have re-buys and continues to make it viable. We have attempted to keep it to a minimum and had to settle on these amounts as the tournament is run over 2 weeks. There are 10 continues per re-buy.

@ Nifty29 I totally agree with you, there is an advantage if you choose to re-buy etc. But hey its gambling, I say do it the way you want to and see what happens. You never know if its your lucky day :D

Keep the PM's coming guys and good luck!

    Cheers,
    Wayne

I cant get Red Flush or La Vida to spin properly, not in tourneymode, not in normal play.
Support does not have a clue.
Tried everything I could think of and finally gave up.:(
    So you're not alone.

They prefer to ignore the issue, so I just uninstalled in the end.
I want my games smooth and fast, not glitchy with stuttering reels and constant freeze-ups.
I could not play a single spin without the reels freezing for a few seconds.

I am also one of those people who don't think it's fair that players who have lots of money can just keep re-buying and win if they want to. It's fine to make it have a few rebuys but come on- at least have a decent cap that normal people can afford to keep playing. It takes all the fun out of it in my opinion to let players spend thousands. I know the casino needs to make a profit but more players would probably be using the rebuy option if they felt they had a fighting chance against high rollers.

    Calling me crazy eh:cool:

Made perfect sense to me, clear $1500 profit for a weeks work. That is the kind of salary MP's get:D

Of course had I only spent $3000, I would have come second, and would have made a loss overall.

There is no "middle ground" in these events, you either play a little for the lowest prizes, or go "all in" for the top one.

The problem is that when the number of continues is so large, you CANNOT win WITHOUT them, even on the HIGHEST of variance games (which this particular event used, Thunderstruck).

Since this one has only 10 continues, it is not so bad, and limiting this to 10 rebuys means it is NOT necessarily going to be won by the player with deep pockets.

VWM, we know you aint crazy but to dosh that amount of cash for less than a 50% profit is out of many people's reach. i had to fork $50 in continues to win the tourney at red flush prized at $200. at least i can afford it.

For the benefit of people who have NEVER played an MG slots tournament (e.g. me), can you (or anyone) explain what a "Continue" and a "Rebuy" are exactly, and how much they cost?

    Thanks!

A REBUY means you pay to play the same round again.
Your previous score is reset to zero again.

A CONTINUE means you buy extra coins and playtime to continue the same round.
Your previous score remains, and keeps growing.

So if a tourney has 999 continues available, highrollers can just keep buying continues until they reach the top spot. They can 'buy' the prize.

When a tourney has rebuys only, its more like a lottery, and someone with not so deep pockets can still win if he/she hits the Holy Grail of the slot.

Last 32RED tourney VWM bought around 500 continues, and even if I had hit 5xThor on a payline in free spins 3 times in a row, I would still not finish first.

Nope, it was closer to 350. 500 would not have given me a profit. Had 500 been necessary, it would have been the last time I tried this. I was RELYING on being able to come first with LESS than 500 continues.

I agree though, that this type of tournament is NOT suitable for those with lower bankrolls, since they don't stand a chance even though they COULD come out on top through having the time & stamina to compete.

Whilst rebuys are fairer, where there is a large number available it STILL gives an advantage to players with large bankrolls, and they can just keep on buying until they hit what they feel will be the best score achievable.

As for CM now being in a MINORITY, we can't have that, can we;)

No I don't think YOU are crazy, just the fact that you had to.spend that to win.

There is still a huge advantage for the player with deep pockets here.

Well, compared to "normal play", this was a damn good bet! There were only two likely outcomes at this level for me, winning the $5000 cash, or the $3000 bonus, for an outlay that was limited to $5000 at worst. In my view, the WORST possible outcome was that I would spend $5000 to win $5000, so this was effectively a "no lose bet", where the ONLY possibilty was a profit (barring some MAJOR disaster, such as my PC blowing up). Coming second would still not be a total loss, and the ONLY reason this became a possibilty is that I did my best NOT to use all 500 continues through some tactical play (and tactical NOT playing) throughout.

Given the same situation (and with $5000 available), I would do it again - it was a good bet.
