B&M V Home

Went and spent the day and afternoon at the land based with mom and friends. Haven't been to the local in well over a yr and my 2 friends have never been so seemed good for a night out.
It was dead, so we got to pick and play w/e games crossed our fancy and a fantastic buffet.......and yet still...

..I gotta say, I still prefer online at home.
I like the selection at my fingertips. I like the luxury of my own chair, fridge, beer etc.

For those now online gambling, , have you come to prefer online to brick & mortars? Or is B and M still as good for you?

Literally just walked home from my B&M, me and my missus just downsized(Vancouver, like winning the lottery) and moved closer to the hub, we live a 5 min walk from a B&M, its great not having to worry about drinking and driving (simply wont risk even one pint), had a few, lost a hundred bucks, I agree its not quite the same but I have had my share of wins, its no Vegas (which I go about 5x a year cuz its cheap and easy from here) but not to bad, convenience and no stress mean a lot to me.

Never had the chance to hit a larger one when in BC - just a rather tiny one in Nainamo - a handful of slots at best.

Our closest here is Rama (Jasmine would know it well) and it's a fair size and good selection, lots of slots I'd never seen nor heard of.

But after a quick go at a few for novelty, I kept thinking ' hmm, I want to hit and pick up a MC to spin at home later' lol.
I'm AT the casino thinking about playing when I get home lol.

My last visits to a B&M casino:

2010 - Singapore - Resort World Sentosa, 4 weeks after their first landbased casino opened and you had to queue for 10-15 minutes to sit down for a slot machine and this was mid-week early afternoon. Never again!!
2008 - Melbourne - 2 x The Crown while on business trips down under
2007 - Las Vegas - being on a can making conference for a week (Cannex de las Americas)
2004 - Montpellier, FR - lived there 2002-2004, 2 visits in 3 years to the local casino, rather small, still all machines operated with coins :D
2003 - Las Vegas - 3 days on a round-the-world holiday trip, LV was my last stop before returning home

Can't be bothered really to leave home for a B&M casino, especially since most of them have banned smoking at the machines. Two funny things about that:

- Singapore - they are veeery big on anti-smoking (the fine for just tossing your stub on the road will set you back by 200SGD/150USD) yet in the casino they have a separate smoking section which you enter via 2 sequenced doors to avoid smoke and smell spreading to the non-smoking section. Hence, when it is about the money exceptions are always possible
- Melbourne - on my penultimate visit they still offered something like a smoking island around a cocktail bar in the middle of the casino, but no machines there. Hence, you had people crowding and squeezing in that small space while having their fags. On the last visit that was removed as well and you had to go outside for a smoke. :(

I prefer online casinos never really won much anywhere else and besides I like the comfort of my own home. Get too tired after work to go anywhere else so playing online is just relaxation for me and nice if I have a win. :)

I also look at the economics of it: beer and liquor arent ever free at our casinos, so youre looking at gas, booze, (possibly) meals and your gambling $.

At home, I can buy a box of beer and a prepaid card and save loads.
Plus, at home, noone gives me funny looks for playing in my boxers. :p

I prefer playing online casino in the comfort of my home, but once in a while do visit land based casinos to "feel" the rush :D:D
Though, it is more costly and not that lucky most of the time :(

Definitely prefer online. Most of the slots I want to play at the land based casinos are in use and you have to either wait or accept another slot that you don't like (usually go to Fallsview -- very busy casino as many Americans go there too). Although I have to say I do enjoy the noise, excitement, etc. I have only ever won at the land based casinos. Basically my online gambling has been strict entertainment value -- no major wins and any wins just get thrown back into the kitty for a deposit a few days later. But, as mentioned -- you can have a few drinks at home and not worry about drinking and driving.

And, I have to say Dionysus -- I am quite pleased that you can't wear your boxers at the B&M places. LOL.

If you know exactly what you are doing, B&M casinos can compare to online casinos.
One thing I can confirm about B&M casinos is that your play is not scrutinized to the nth degree like it is at online casinos.
In regards to the player loyalty cards; I have friends who work in gaming and they assure me that *no specific data* is recorded on them; only your point balance.

The anonymity of B&M casinos has value I think. Unless you are doing something illegal like swiping chips you'll never be banned or restricted.

Here in Ontario the Good, slot payouts are so low, in the 80's. I used to go very regularly, now I don't.

I love Rama, it has excellent food, and they are pretty generous with the comps. It's well run and pleasant. I've seen a lot of great concerts over the years. You don't have to be a high roller to earn a free room monthly, and it's a great hotel.

I've had the pleasure of meeting up with a couple of forum members there too.

I find myself missing autospin. Now most of the chairs are fixed in place, I'm very short and I am often an uncomfortable distance from the machine.

Some of the games have really great graphics. I found the Storm Queen ones particularly mesmerizing.

I miss the sound of coins hitting the trays though. There used to be a level of excitement as soon as you hit the gaming floor.

Definitely prefer Online. The closest B&M to us is also Rama. Honestly though I'm not one for people in general lol so I don't like having to sit beside a complete stranger to play. Haven't been to Rama in almost 19 years :eek2::eek2: (mainly because hubby doesn't play), but don't miss it at all. At home I have my beer, smokes, and a bathroom 20 feet away and I know who's butts have been sitting on it lmao :D

And thats where Vaping comes in  quit 3 years ago for the electronic type get away using it on trains planes and automobiles :)
although you gotta do it on the quiet in some places.

Vape On Be Happy! as the saying goes

I prefer online to B&M and you just summed up all my thoughts....I feel it strange to game while other people are around me

I've never played at a genuine B&M casino. We have "amusement arcades" in my home town here in Northern Ireland, and they usually have a strictly 18+ section filled with video poker, high-paying 777's machines (by high paying I mean maybe £1k) and that's about it.
I do enjoy sitting at home, getting a beer from the fridge, eating my own food, going to bed when I'm bored. Dunno if I'd prefer a B&M because I have no basis for comparison.
