australian legislation amendments! HELP ME

Saw this over on LCB:

"From Monday the 21st August, we will not be accepting new registrations from Australia.Customers that already have an account with us will stay active until further notice."

However, I haven't received an email relating to this decision. Has anyone else?

Well this doesn't sound good!
Seemed like everything died down for a couple months there.

At the moment there are still plenty to play at but if videoslots shuts us out i fear many others will as well.

The new law says you cannot take bets from customers that are present in Australia. So if the casino don't know you are present in Australia, you can still play as an Australian. So I recommend to play via VPN a good and cheap one is tunnelbear(dot)com. Very easy to use.

I already use TunnelBear for a lot of my non-gambling browsing (Rawr!)

However I am not sure your advice re using a VPN to mask country of origin is a good idea. What happens to verification at withdrawal time? Or providing correct sign-up details, such as address and phone number?

All of these can - and probably will - result in confiscated winnings.

Its not illegal to take players that live in Australia as long as they don't play from Australia. Just saying that some operators might still allow you to play as long as they don't see you using an Australian IP.
I read a senator recommended people in Australia to play via VPN. (

Any where left?

So i only have till end of month at current casino and they are closing my account, I can't find any where else to join up as an Aussie player. The only online gaming options I have found are sports betting related. Has any one found any where to continue playing?
Annoyed to say the least.

But what about having an Australian bank account for deposits and withdrawals? And also given you need to verify ID to join and withdrawal. Won't playing via VPN be ok until you win, and then it will cause dramas?

If your bank rejects withdrawals and deposits with bank. You cant play of course. I would contact the support of the casino I play at to ask the above. You will for sure get problems with some and others not. One thing I know for sure, don't post publicly about casinos that allow you, because then you risk to have them close the market. Regulators read more than we think.

I believe many might close for new registrations and might still allow their old customers to play. However, we will see after the 11th September.

I heard BETAT and Slotty Vegas are still opening to Aussies atm. Heard it from the grape vine since a lot of people in Malta work in the iGaming industry companies here.. I'd check with their CS just to be safe.

There are loads of casinos who will continue to accept Australians - just they will have different games to the ones you may be used to.
Someone round here has a link in his signature to a list of the best ones...

So on September 12th, Australia will become an unregulated market, with all the problems that entails.

And unfortunately, a major problem is that Australia can never become regulated, as the mechanism for that simply does not exist.

Offshore gambling operators will not be able to legally offer services to Australians unless they receive a license from Oz ... Since there are no provisions in place for awarding a license, the law is more of an outright ban on such operators.

So it looks like the do-gooders who believe they have the right to dictate to us how we live our lives, spend our money, enjoy our leisure time etc. have won, irrespective of our wishes.

I sure as hell don't remember the government bothering with a plebiscite for this. Strange how they can make laws on certain issues, but insist on plebiscites for others!

What are our options then?

1: Stop playing. :what:

2: Play at our friendly local RSL club.

3:play at casinos still offering services to Australia, and hope like hell they are reputable.

4: AND....as KasinoKing mentions above, get used to totally different providers/games from those we know and love.

Got confirmation Thur night from Riverbelle chat that the second half of MG Viper casinos will also be leaving a day later (last day will be the 13th while its the 12th for Fortune Lounge).

I have also noticed that progressives are missing from viper across both groups so I have no last chance to try Mega Moolah :(

It does show in Videoslots but gives errors when trying to open it.

Can anyone else confirm that progressives are already gone ?

Casino-mate

I have just been told by a chat representative from Casino-mate ( accredited casino on this site ) that because they operate on a different license, they will continue to accept Australian players after September 13th. They will also continue to offer Microgaming games to Australians < That can't be right?

They will continue to put withdrawals via Instant Bank Transfer, if requested....

Have I just been fed the wrong information by one of their reps?

--------------

Jackpot City, who have never let me down, have informed me via chat ( but didn't get an email ), that they will stop taking play and deposits from September 13. They have stopped issuing cheques.

Casino-Mate is Sister to House of Jack.

How they get around legislation is by being a cloud based casino.
It may work for a while, but I'm sure any loop holes like that would be legislated if or when it became enough of an issue for government.

I've added a list of CM Accredited and Grey Zone casinos that are still taking Aussie players at the top of this thread.

I am just confused as to why we can play at certain casinos and not the rest, what is the difference, do they get taxed?

I just don't get politics
I'm not great on politics either  but they way I read the situation is this (and I may be wrong):

Microgaming & NetEnt (and a few others) are publicly listed companies in the EU.
All the "Big Boy" casinos are licenced in the EU and/or UK.
The EU & UK are very good friends with Australia - so they don't want to piss them off by allowing these casinos & games to be available against the will of the Aus government - so they would take action against any operator who breaks Aus laws.
Therefore the casinos really have no option but to pull out.

Casinos & softwares who are NOT licenced in the EU/UK don't have this "threat" hanging over them - so most will carry on as before.

BTW, Playtech are also pulling out of Aus... like anyone gives a toss! :p

At the end of the day Mina I think some casinos don't care for what the Aussie government is doing and if they have enough providers allowing Aus players then why not stay open to us as they probably making lots of money and isn't that their business is. Possibly all relates to where they have their casino license also.
The next step for the government is to start blocking the websites much in the same way that they are blocking pirate torrent sites now.

I just tried a couple of Microgaming games and get this error

Sorry - I got told the wrong information by one of their chat representatives.
I went in and played today and just found out the true story.

I'm also surprised Casino-Mate is back into the grey zone. I am about to make a nice withdrawal.
