Sorry if this is a bit heavy and downbeat.Miles away from the happy world of gambling.

I dont know if anyone saw the new reports about Aston Hall child abuse yesterday,
but It has put me in a real turmoil as I was one of the unlucky ones to be treated there.
In 1970,I was subjected to the truth serum treatment twice,during which the accused
doctor asked some very inapropriate questions about sexual encounters with
men,then proceeded to put me to sleep,without going into details when I woke up I
was um very aroused and he had left the room.
Until now I have always put it down to the effects of the drugs used but now found
he was strongly suspected of sexually abusing kids.Will never know what really
happenned during those treatments and will never get closure as the doctor is long
dead.Contacted the police today and they are very keen for me to make a statement.

Nothing to be sorry about, of course I speak for everyone when I say that what you and others went through sounds utterly horrific, with the chief culprit having reportedly abused at least 65 children, 'Dr Kenneth Miller', not to mention the other staff being fully complicit...

The more you read about it the darker it gets,some say that Jimmy saville was knew Miller and was invited to Aston,not
proven though.

All power to you my friend and I wish you all of the best with what you are committing yourself to in the future for speaking out.
I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I lived in the care system from the age of two and I know how cruel,heartless and evil some of the folk who chose to work in the care system where. However despite some close shaves I personally avoided any sexual abuse. IMHO Nuns and the clergy where the worst.
There where decades at the very least ( Dicken's Oliver?) where children in the care system where considered and treat as if they where simply very fortunate to have a roof over their heads and whatever they had designed for you was fair game.
Amongst my first memories was having to get undressed and dressed for the day all in the passageway outside our dorms where kids from 2-16 where made to strip off in front of one another. Teenagers being forced to expose themselves in front of all any sundry. There where tears every morning.
I was very lucky but some that I knew where not so lucky

I dont want to paint myself as a victim and cant say that I found the place threatening its just the uncertainy about the motivations for the truth drug
treatment although the drugs used were not supposed to be given to children(I was 15 at the time, not really a child) and very high doses were sometimes used.
I dont think there will be any ramifications from speaking out at this stage as the police enquiry has been completed and everyone that has come forward have given
similar accounts.One thing that has been brought home to me was the scale of the cover up and how hard people had to work to get it taken seriously,the corruption
in those days was endemic and there is a hell of a lot still to be uncovered.

btw: I never heard about Aston Hall (UK only i think) but i know Aston Villa

Try to see yourself as a survivor opposed to a victim, it's a strange phenomenon our brain as the impact on how we see ourselves impacts on our daily lives.

I really hope you find closure on this and it's heinous as to how any child can be subjected to this, take care of yourself and those closest first and foremost.
