Ask me anything (about slots)!

It was nice to see it while it lasted. Thanks for confirming that I wasn't too heavy into the Malt.

However, good to know these aren't generally available. I rather like games like 'Ted' and 'Goonies' that tie in very well with the films they represent.

I usually try out slots with play-money before going at it with a deposit.
But what i really am looking for is to see a couple bonuses just to get an idea of what to expect when playing for real money later.
Would love if the playmoney-version would include a way to trigger the bonus, since thats what im after.
Especially for games that have bonuses that take a couple hundred spins to trigger on average. Takes forever just to see 2-3 bonuses in playmoney-mode.

Wouldn't the bonus frequency be one of the main things you'd want to get a feel for though?

Can casinos change odds on slots?

The short answer is yes.
In slots it is called Theoretical Return To Player or TRTP or just RTP, instead of odds.
The casinos can choose between several RTP versions of the same game that are available. They can't just make changes on their own. The different RTP settings are only the ones available and certified by the provider.

There are many threads on the subject, like:

Shock! Casino owners may change RTP in Play N'GO slots!
What casinos have the best payouts UK?

And many places here and in the main site to explain about RTP, like:

Slots: What you should know before you play

So it's 2020 are slots rigged? :p Are the casinos really rigging them while closed to lowest RTP'S ever seen?;)
answered your own Q
why rig when ya can order lower RTP :)

@trancemonkey I have a question let's say I am playing Book Of Dead and have around 200 spins at £1 without getting a bonus then I decide to leave that slot to try another but return to Book Of Dead to try and get the bonus again does it know from my last play how much I have had and if I got the bonus or not so I am asking can a slot remember how many spins you've had does it carry on where you left off?

Nope, slots have no memory of previous play. Its against the rules of all regulated markets.. the only time slots store bits of game play is where you have some sort of game persistence... for example, BTG games where you collect stuff (like Monopoly)...

When they make a slot and test it for x million spins to check the RTP is every variant tested again?

For example, Netent just started offering lower versions of existing slots. Do they have to test the new RTP versions again or is it based on calculations of the existing tested version?

Every RTP version has to be tested and verified by an official test house.

How come then Microgaming slots and Netent's Dead or Alive let you play at the same bet size which you left off?

For example, today, I have played The finer reels of life at £3 per spin and then decided to leave a casino, and come back on the next day. If I don't clean/delete all the possible stored stuff from my computer, by opening the slot on the next day it will show my bet at which I was playing previously.

P.S Sometimes, on MG slots, it's doesn't even help if a computer is cleaned. A game will still start from the same bet and with same symbols on reels from the previously played session.

The game can of course store data like that as that has no impact on the maths. That's just peripheral data

The version of the game you played is likely the one they make available on their website or demo server. It would enable people to see all the features.

It is not the true demo mode. If a site links to this version, it's likely that it was not intended to be a public facing version of the game.

All games have demo options like this for testing, development and demonstration purposes but it is very unusual for these to be made available to the public.

As per UKGC guidelines, the demo mode of a game should be exactly the same maths as the playable version - I.e the only difference should be that credits are already on the game.

So why do demo games run far better in comparison to real games?

Heck just watch roshstein; the wins he brings to the table are unreal for real money.

Under UKGC (and I believe MGA rules too) demo games MUST use the same maths as the real money versions.

Play at dodgy casinos, and no idea what they could be doing...and we all know Roshstein is fake. Let's not open up old wounds again.

You always say dodgy casino's, but there are nummerous outside of the UK such as Unibet, online casino's in Europe / Portugal (where i play for example) that do have a license from the goverment and are strictly controlled. Sometimes it seems that you just seem to avoid anything that's not within the UK. A dodgy casino woud'nt pay out 65k as that happend to me.

Dodgy or not; the maths might be the same, the win / volatility ratio is far higher with demo then real play obviously.
