Any way to prevent opening new accounts?

Hello

I have a gambling problem which I had managed for a few years but recently for no particular reason came back with a vengeance! I have betfilter installed on my PC which works great, but these days every other casino works on your phone and tablet!

After every big loss (which now is every time I gamble) I always exclude myself from that casino to stop me from chasing losses, however, I always seem to find new ones to join. I recently emailed very casino I could find to ask them to blacklist me and prevent me from opening new accounts and to pass my info to any of their affiliates, but they all said that I could not exclude myself from an account that I don't have.

I'm not out to complain about the gambling industry, this is my problem, but it is so much easier to manage when I don't have access to gambling online. I don't even think about it when I can't play.

Does anyone have any advice do how I can be blocked from all the major online casino groups? I have tried gamblock on my phone, but it killed my phone. I can't get rid of Internet as I need it for study and to keep in touch with people abroad. I know all my card numbers by heart too (as have used them so often!) so giving them to someone else for safekeeping won't work.

Any practical advice would be very welcome!

Blocking Access: Speak with your Internet Service Provider. Most ISPs now have adult content filters which can be customised to block gambling sites. On your mobile or tablet you can speak with the phone provider to block content to over 18 services.

Debit/Credit Cards: Telephone your provider, inform them that your card details have been compromised and they will send you replacements with new numbers. This will also give you a period of 7-10 days where you will have no access to any cards and should provide you with time to put things in place to help with your addiction.

Depending on your phone, you could try parental control software - look for something that has blocking for different categories of websites. Then if you find something that works, let a trusted friend or family member change the password.

Didn't get on with gamblock, holding out for betfilter for my phone but I don't think the've developed any software yet. Will try with some of the parental controls and will change my cards

This is only temporary. Longer term, the OP should look at ways of ensuring they have no means to deposit. Easier said than done when it comes to the new breed of phone based casino apps as they can take deposits from the phone account.

Mastercards tend to block gambling deposits at most sites, so are a better option than VISA. Tell the Mastercard provider to block ALL gambling transactions, rather than those not on the approved list (which is probably the UK licensed sites). Have a low credit limit, and get a bank account that does not provide a debit card. This should limit the consequences of any lapse, and if one does occur, get help in closing the loophole in the defences that allowed it.

The biggest problem is that it is impossible to get an industry wide self exclude, only to exclude from individual operators, and in some cases, individual softwares. One can, of course (with a friend watching your every move in case of a lapse), create accounts at every known casino group, and get the friend to choose the password and never reveal it. Then, having just created the account, self exclude from that site, and make it clear it's a gambling problem exclusion, rather than a "cooling off" period. You could even ask a friend to do this, so that by the time you find a new casino, your friend has already found it, registered your account, and blocked it for life.

advice from my ideas

1 cut up cred cards
2 sort out your pay to go to family member or trusted friend or partner
3 get all you bills rent and loans set to direct debit
4 ask the person who is holding you cash to buy you gift cards fuel cards that can not have real cash taken out
5 try other types of online gaming eg puzzle games WoW ect keeping busy is key
6 block yourself at all online casino groups and lad casinos bet shops ect
7 email all main asino groups with a copy of your id and your wish to be blocked from opening a account
8 dont blame yourself and get youself down think of ways to make things better

The best way to not open new accounts is actually to take the final decision to not play anymore.
That needs to come from you because a gambler always find a way to play.

Do you really want to stop playing?

Help is good and you need it but it's still you who needs to be strong.
Go to GA-meetings and don't stop thinking you're cured. Use it to get reminded, and to stay strong.
See it like a chronical desease you have for life but that will be easier to handle.
