Hey all,

Have been suffering from really bad pains on the right side of my face since last week.
Been to the dentist and no holes were found in my teeth and the gums seemed fine.
She gave me an anti biotic as she suspected an infection somewhere in the jaw, or upper cheek area.
Now 4 days later the pain got worse and went to the dentist again.
Again all clear in my mouth and she was clueless.
She now referred me to a specialist as she was not sure what was causing the pains.

1. Could be jaw, inflamed due to grinding of my teeth which I do. :)
2. Could be still just an infection and anti biotics still need to do their work.
3. Trigeminal Neuralgia, a sudden pain in your face which is very rare and the cause is unknown.

I really hope it is still just a bad infection and it takes a bit longer to clear.

Just wanted to see if anyone else ever had an issue like this and how was it treated.

Painkillers don't work :-(
Maybe a bottle of whiskey does.

Mark.

Yes I had about a year ago terrible pain on the side of my face down to the jaw.

It was sinus related -infection , antibiotics cleared it up :)

A very warm cloth on the side of your face will give it more comfort.

Pain killers didn't work for me either :( and nothing a dentist can do.

After you had the third antibiotic will start feeling better.

I hope this helps

same as above - could be something seasonal (trhroat/ear/sinus infection) and a regimen of antibiotics might do the trick - could be a tension headache
in either case, a long, hot, steamy shower, cant hurt if it doesnt help ;)

Yeah I think it is an infection as the area just under my right nostril is very sensitive and tender. Just touching it hurts.
Will finish my AB and hopefuly it will get better then.

Thanks guys.

I don't mind a bit of pain and have a decent pain threshold but this pain is something else, cannot suppress or ignore it really.

Check with your pharmacist to make sure no drug interactions, but a decongestant is probably worth a go, as well as NSAID.

Cold packs to,reduce swelling, alternating with hot to sooth. Tea bags making good cheap clean hot packs, with the added benefits of tannins.

Freezees make efficient ice packs for small regions. Just wrap in a facecloth, or get to squishy point, so you don’t frostburn your face.

Nerve pain really sucks, settle down the inflammation.
