Another question - are we playing a single game or an entire casino?

Hello again,

I don't want to become irritating, it's just that I have so many questions that I want to ask you guys. I kinda feel guilty starting yet another thread, but at the same time; what is a forum without threads and questions?

Anyway, this is something I've wondered for a long time - Supposing I deposit £100 at Ladbrokes casino and after a while on Double 'O' Cash (or whatever) I build my balance up to £350, then withdraw the lot.
The next day, I deposit £100 again and play a different game. Am I treated as though I'm 'up' £250 and the game is then more inclined to take money off me this time? Or is it a totally different game where I have as much chance of winning as the next player?

I hope that makes sense. :)

Hello :)

I understand how you think, and I believe it is quite normal for players/gamblers to think like that.

Having said that, your thoughts are not rational. Every spin is a new spin. This applies regardless of whether you have lost or won in previous games.

We know this is not rational. All gamblers are "not rational". :p

Rainmaker, do not feel sorry or worried about asking questions. That is how all of us learned more about gambling on line. So fire away with those questions!

We like questions - keep 'em coming!

Microgaming's bonus video slots are totally random - as rainmaker said, each spin is a totally independent event (just like a roulette wheel) and the game does not have a memory.
Each player is playing in isolation - no wins or losses other people have will effect your results.

BUT... you should also be aware that MG also have AWP or "Pub Slots" which work in a TOTALLY different way and each spin is not random. (They are marked as AWP in the games menu). Some other softwares also have "fruit machines" which work in a slightly different way too. So if you're not sure which type of machine you are playing it is always best to come here & ask about it!

While spins are independent, it's important to keep in mind that every time you play, you are more likely to lose than win. The longer you play, the more likely you are to lose. I think this is a major reason why people talk about slots going into suck mode after a win.

Whether you play on in a session, or withdraw and make a new deposit makes no difference. Except seeing that money in your account is a good feeling, and it's good to withdraw when we do get ahead.

Thank you so much, I am really worried about asking questions here :p

Thanks for the replies and advice.

I think over time I've just become a bit paranoid and always thought that after winning, the games are 'out to get me' (for want of a better phrase).

jod5413 - I think you meant ME to fire away with those question? ;) :D

Just bumping this one up to say something...

You might have seen my post in the 'winning screenshots' thread - I won about £450 on LOTR's free spins feature earlier, quadrupling my deposit of £150 up to £600+

I never just 'take the money' when I win... I like to go play a different game for a while before withdrawing, but I set myself a target/limit.

I decided to play Break da Bank Again and said I would not go below £500. I kept an eye on the stats in this game while playing; I played 500 spins at £0.90 per spin. My biggest win was £25, followed by £12.50 and £10, but that's not the worst bit. I never ONCE got the free spins feature. Don't you think that is a bit harsh considering I played so many spins? It genuinely felt as though the 'casino' had every intention of getting as much money back as possible. I actually went down to £450 before withdrawing, which is still triple my money so I can't really complain.

What do you think, genuinely? I just hit an unlucky patch on BdBA, or I was destined to lose as long as I continue playing?

I have my suspicions ;)

Against my own self advice I went back for another blast at BdBA yesterday (I just couldn't leave it like that). Playing the same wager, I got free spins twice in less than 25 games/spins/bets (whatever).
Won £280 and quickly withdrew.

Wibbler - Yeah I agree. It's just difficult to get into that mindset when things are on a downswing.

Hiya: All i know is this. "Table Games" example. Most games are around the 50/50 win/lose area. The longer you play, the closer you get, "on average", to that 50/50 area. if you play 100 spins, and won 30, and lost 70, you just hit a bad run. Next time you could win 70, and lose 30.

When the latter happens, and you keep playing, you have already exceeded the odds of the game, and it of course will not last, or stay that way. Players keep playing. They start Losing...................................and think the casino is out to get their money back by some sort of cheating. It is just the 50/50 odds catching up to you.

A Table player can adjust their money management to counter this. I have no idea what a slot player does when they kind of know, "the losing streak is coming"?

A slots player can do the same as a table player - just lower your bet amount so you aren't betting above a certain percentage of your bankroll. Whether or not that is a good strategy is open for debate, but the option is available for all casino games, not specifically for table games.

The reason most people don't stop when they think a losing streak may be coming is because you don't really know - your next spin can be a huge payout and greed is the biggest factor that keeps players spinning more and more. Overcoming that greed is very difficult and it helps setting goals for yourself before you start playing; i.e. deposit $50 but stop when your bankroll hits $200. Of course, it's very easy to rationalize why to keep going, but that's where discipline comes in. Over the years I've found that setting a goal of reaching $x with at least x amount of hours played works for me. If I hit $200 in the first 30 minutes of play I don't want to stop so I'd set the rules that I want to play at least 2 hours or so, and if I meet both criteria I stop and withdraw.

Hiya; The reason i replied to this post was this. I have never seen ANYONE, win some money, and then just flat out, QUIT? It is my limited understanding, that if you do not play, "Max Coins", you can not win the Progressive, or the Max jackpot? At a table game, i get paid 35/1 not matter how much, or how little i bet.

I agree. When things are going Bad, it is Hard to cut your losses, and up and leave. But, I know from expierience, Leaving, and coming back later is so much better, than just losing all your bankroll at one time, in one fail swoop.

Streaks are part of every game/slot/ect in any casino. Why chase the bad ones into Infinity an Beyound, when the Good one are just around the corner?

Winning and quitting/stopping isn't easy to do, but believe me it can be done :). It's true that if you are playing progressive slots you need to bet a certain amount to be eligible for the jackpot, but for regular slots game you have more options for bankroll management. When playing progressive slots you need to keep your fingers crossed more than anything.

I've had times where I've been up $1000 with a $50 deposit after a very small amount of time and after I reach my set time I'm down to $400. Stopping there is the hardest thing you can do in gambling because you are itching to try to win back the $600 you just lost, but from experience going down that road will have you more often than not getting down to $300, then $200, then making high bets hoping for a big win and losing everything fast... To each his own, but for me this betting method has worked and has me coming out ahead more often than I used to, even if my irrational side wants to keep playing to win back the profits I lost.

VWM? I don't think I've ever seen a post by you with only one word...Are you okay???

/derail/

I once had a college professor that told each of his classes that the only stupid question was the unasked question. Never feel badly for asking any question, chances are someone else is pondering the same thing and are afraid to ask...
