Annoyed with Emu Casino

Hey hey

So I've recently moved to Australia, and to avoid any conflicts with entitlement to bonuses and IP addresses etc I decided to open a new account with Australian-facing Emu Casino. They're a sister site to Videoslots so I knew they were trustworthy.

Because I'm in the country temporarily, and my rent is inclusive of all bills, I was worried that I would struggle to prove my address for the purposes of identification. With this in mind, I contacted the support team to ask if a letter from the Australian Government with my name and Australian address on it would suffice, and they confirmed that it should be fine. I then registered and uploaded this document to my account.

I'm starting a new job next week, and have time on my hands this week, hence my desire to play slots. Foolishly, I decided to deposit and start playing before my documents had been approved (although feeling somewhat safe in the knowledge that the support team had confirmed that what I have should be fine). I deposited $150 and got to work slotting.

For my $150 I got a lot of play time, and eventually decided to withdraw when my balance was at $250. The cashier screen informed me that my withdrawal was denied because my identity had not yet been verified. My past experience of this process is that the cashier removes the balance from your account and then they hold your cash until your documents are approved. Not at Emu Casino: they just denied my withdrawal and the cash remained playable.

They took more than 24 hours to get around to processing my documents, and got back in touch to say that the document from the Australian Government was not acceptable, and that I had to provide a bank statement. (I hasten to add that for an "Australian" casino the hours worked by the document processing team seemed to be those of Europe). So the next day I went to the bank to get a stamped official document with my address on it, and duly uploaded it. I also had to re-submit my credit card as I had obscured some digits for the purpose of security and apparently this is not allowed (although it has been at every other casino I've sent scans of my card to). I've been waiting longer than 24 hours now and still had no word about the status of these documents.

Of course, throughout this whole time my balance was still playable and not available for withdrawal. Having the impulsive nature of a gambler I returned to play, and in fairness I got a lot of playtime out of the deposit. Eventually, of course, I bust out the full $250 balance.

Losing that money was my own fault. I should have patiently waited for my documents to be approved and cashed out. I'm also aware that, had I cashed out, I would have re-deposited the money in a few weeks anyway and ultimately lost it, that's gambling.

Regardless, I am annoyed with Emu Casino for:

1. Telling me that the document I had should be acceptable and then rejecting it after I've made a deposit and have a withdrawable balance.
2. Taking so long to review identity documents.
3. Rejecting my withdrawal and returning the cash to my playable balance. To me this is completely unacceptable. When a player clicks "withdraw" it signifies that they have finished gambling and want to get their money out. In any other casino I've ever played at they remove the balance (and therefore the temptation) as soon as you click "withdraw". I'm man enough to accept that I gambled and lost that balance, but I did make a conscious decision to withdraw and had the casino operated like every other casino, or indeed processed documents in a timely manner, or accepted the documents they said they would, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to lose.

Thoughts?

Yep have to agree it is fierce annoying that you request something and it is delayed.
I am sure it has happened to all of us that we have fallen into the trap of playing pending money.
Good luck with your new job out there and just be careful because if your a gambler Australia is paradise for us lol.

Same thing happened to me at Videoslots the one and only time i won something and wanted to cashout, there was no cashout button... Had to verify first. As usual they 5 minutes after busting out on the whole balance documents approved...

I would stay away from this whole group in my opinion they are not worth throwing your money at.. Very tight slots aswell compared to other casinos.

Update

I've just received another e-mail stating that the document I went out of my way to get from the bank yesterday (summary of accounts on official paper with an official stamp, which clearly shows my name and address) is not acceptable either. This, despite the support agent I spoke with urging me to get such a document.

Thoughts?
I think you already know the answer to that question.
As an experienced gambler you should have known (and indeed, you did know) that getting verified at a new address could be problematical, and that you should have got that 100% sorted BEFORE you deposited, no matter what any CS person told you.

As for gambling away your balance, well again, you know that is only your fault.
I don't like to sound unsympathetic, but I think you already know that you only really have yourself to blame for losing your money.

Next time: less haste, more patience!

Like you said, I've already accepted responsibility for both of these errors of judgment. Ultimately, had I been more patient, I could have made the withdrawal. I don't question Emu Casino's legitimacy or willingness to pay.

What I am criticising them for is:

1. A lack of consistency between the security and support departments. This has caused me to waste time obtaining and photographing documents which were never going to be accepted. There doesn't appear to be any way to communicate directly with the security department, you just receive an automatically generated e-mail which tells you that your documents haven't been accepted and to contact the support team, and the support team then appear to just guess as to what will be acceptable.

2. The > 24 hour time taken to check identity documents. Prolonging this process leaves players in a position where they can deposit and gamble to their heart's content, but can't withdraw or even flush their funds out of the playable balance due to the way the system has been designed. Do they drag their heels on purpose? I'm not sure, but the delay certainly benefits them.

When a player has a cash balance which they cannot immediately withdraw, psychologically the money takes on a lower value. Think bonuses with wagering requirements attached, or rogue casinos which are stalling with payment. You're more tempted to play that balance because it doesn't represent tangible currency anyway. By setting up the system the way they have, and taking as long as they do to process documents, they have (perhaps inadvertently) created a situation where players are more likely to continue to gamble rather than stop and wait to cash out.

If you have a strong willpower, or the patience to wait for the documents to be approved before depositing, then you won't run into these problems. But we're talking about gamblers, who are by definition an impulsive breed. I'm not blaming Emu Casino for the loss; but I am criticising the environment they created, which was conducive to that loss.

I agree with KK here but I wonder something else.

Don't you have an account at Videoslots then?
If they are sister casinos then Lucas maybe could have helped you and if you have been verified there before it would be easier now.

Maybe I should add that when I have been needed to send documents before cashing out I've always have had my balance to play on.
I had no idea that some casinos could hide it for me while waiting.

Yeah I do have an account with Videoslots. I suspended the account ages ago, but perhaps the same information could be used to verify my account with Emu Casino. I don't imagine I'll be going to the bother of getting more documents to prove my address.

Really? Every casino I've ever played at has at the very least made my withdrawal pending (and usually reversible), and then asked for documents before processing the payment. Crucially though, the funds have always been moved from my playable balance to a pending withdrawal.

I canot remember a time when a casino took money of me and waited to I.D to be approved, Not happend much but from what I remeber it has nether been took out and always stayed in the account to be blown,

The point is they should of put account on hold E.G no more depos and amount reqested to 1 side, Just incase there was fraud involved, But no I guess if you had won than you would not got money for some reason, but now lost than no dout I.D would be aproved so you go chasing it with more depos,

Update

Victor from customer service at Emu Casino has since got in touch with me to apologise for the inconvenience, and I've managed to get my account fully verified now. In a very kind gesture they have also credited my full original deposit back to my account, wager free, which was a welcome surprise!

Top marks for Emu Casino then! Very impressed.

Hi All,

We wanted to clarify some points with regards to Emu being a sister site to ours.

Emu is a whitelabel. (Not a sister site)
EmuCasino.com is owned by EmuGroup Ltd
Emu company, brand and product (EmuCasino) is completely owned/managed independently to the operations of Panda Media Ltd (Videoslots.com).

Should you need any assistance or have any questions for Emu, feel free to get in touch as we of course can direct you to the persons in charge.

Have a nice weekend!

Kind Regards,
Lucas

Oops, my apologies for distributing incorrect information. This might be a stupid question, but can you clarify exactly what a white label is?

my turn my friend what is a white label, lets see, I see a new bingo site open and states white labels, I rang up and got no where, I was told the help was from 1 site (wish bingo) this is rubbish as I have spoken to the person b4 when ringing up from costa bingo. Well they rekon that they have nothing to do with other sites which I no is wrong and should not say that, Here is the link to so say no bonus if already white label,

first deposit with the Company or any of its white label partners, and who have or previously had an account with any of the websites owned or operated by the Company,

I have been regerstard to costa, sing, costa and city, there is a new 1 now + wish bingo =6 but thee thing is no 1 gives you what white label is unless I miss somthing,

Emu as a white-label act under our license in curacao and rent our software.

They own their own player database and handle all customer relationships and branding themselves.

All player balances are protected by us so you can feel safe for your funds on EmuCasino as you do on VideoSlots.com.
